Join AWT as our new Environmental Economist & Nature Recovery Land Buyer and you will make a significant contribution to achieving our goals of creating 1000ha of new habitat by 2030, with the Trust purchasing at least 100ha of new land.  

This exciting area of work offers significant opportunities to tackle the climate and ecological crises. AWT has a wealth of ecological expertise and is a leader in local environmental markets having developed BNG and Bat credits and processes.

You will work with the Senior Leadership Team and expert ecologists, to develop the vision for large-scale land purchases and improvements to our existing reserves.  With your background in environmental economics, you will assess the multiple benefits each project could offer and develop business cases that facilitate investment from the emerging green finance markets. Resulting in a prospectus of land purchase opportunities which will guide the Trust’s ambitions up to 2030.

You will also support the Head of Nature Recovery with land purchases, giving you the chance to input into projects as they develop and see theoretical benefits come to life.

Key Tasks:

· Using  AWT’s Green Finance Review Process, carry out assessments of existing reserves and land on the open market, to enable the creation of a fully costed Land Purchase Prospectus, which will inform AWT’s actions for years to come.

· Lead the acquisition process for AWT's first Nature Recovery land purchase - aiming to be completed by the end of 2024.

· Work closely with senior staff to develop AWT’s customer base for credit sales. Initially focusing on Biodiversity Net Gain, bat credits and carbon credits.

The role of Community Stewardship Manager (Sooty Volunteers) will help to improve the lives of blind and partially sighted people by managing relationships with our amazing team of volunteer fundraisers who deliver RNIB's Sooty box programme across the UK.

Sooty has been the face of RNIB's charity collection boxes for over 50 years, collecting more than £13 million in public donations.

You will be responsible for ensuring our volunteer's contribution is a positive and supported experience, creating opportunities for volunteers to engage with other teams across the organisation and maximise fundraising income.

If you have a passion for volunteer engagement, community fundraising, relationship building, and communication, this is a fantastic opportunity to utilise your skills, creativity, and enthusiasm.

What you will need -

The successful person will have experience of volunteer management, ideally working in a fast-paced fundraising team or similar environment, and an interest in learning about creative marketing campaigns and supporter journeys.

You will be a great communicator with the ability to speak to a wide variety of stakeholders to ensure our supporters receive the best stewardship possible. You will also be experienced in motivating people to get involved, quickly building rapport and establishing long lasting relationships.

BACKGROUND: 
For many families there are issues that precede a young person’s gang involvement. Personal circumstances typically involve poverty, unsuitable housing, separation, family conflict, domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health and imprisonment.

Gang involvement increases the risk of violence and victimisation to the young person, their friends and their family, therefore, it essential when supporting young people to exit gangs we adopt a ‘whole family’ approach.

A ‘whole family’ approach involves working with the family to assess risk, ensuring all family members feel safe, mentoring young people who are involved in or at risk of gang and serious youth violence and offering holistic support to enable the family to achieve their potential and raise aspirations.

Without the right support, families can become trapped in a cycle of homelessness, crime, unemployment and poverty that is passed on from generation to generation.

St Giles Trust solution to this stark reality is our Children & Families Service. The C&F team offer an intensive and holistic approach that seeks to understand the complex and inter-related family issues behind poverty in order to resolve them. Children & Families Caseworkers break the cycle, unlocking chaotic families’ potential, and empowering them to raise themselves out of poverty.

Key Deliverables:

• To develop and maintain relationships with other agencies, ensuring a steady flow of referrals to the project; in particular schools, PRU’s, Youth Offending Services and Children’s Social Care. 
• To support families using a  1:1 tailored and holistic practical & emotional support to improve mental health & wellbeing, housing, finances, living environment and increase their readiness to engage in training and employment 
• To complete initial needs assessments with families and support them to develop individual action plans and regularly review to assess progress 
• To promote inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process and to include involved agencies in the delivery of the services
• To carry out and review thorough risk management plans with families ensuring each family member has an age-appropriate safety plan
• Provide a client led support service that responds to individual’s needs. Key elements will include supporting with housing, finances, schooling, parenting, health and wellbeing, ETE and criminal justice
• To support families who are affected by domestic violence, this will include working with victims and perpetrators
• To deliver the service in a timely and targeted manner, working through identified issues on the action plan, promoting case closure as an achievable outcome
• To close cases effectively and positively, identifying a survival plan for the client that can be used for ongoing support and agencies that can be used if serious problems develop in the future
• To support the Team Leader  with other tasks as and when required
• To carry out any other similar duties as required, including providing support to other St Giles Trust projects on occasion.

We are recruiting for an experienced Employment and Transition Mentor to work closely with Autistic/neurodivergent individuals aged 16 to 25 residing in the Bromley borough, to enable skills which will assist them in overcoming barriers to employment and achieving their vocational goals.

This role involves assessment, guidance, and advocacy to ensure that each student reaches their maximum potential. 

In partnership with the London Borough of Bromley, this new unique role has been developed as part of an exciting pilot project funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to support autistic/neurodivergent students to transition from school into further training or permanent paid employment. 

The successful candidate will provide training and workshops to participants and their support networks to enhance understanding and coping skills. In addition, the role will be required to provide training for other stakeholders (employers and other organisations) to raise awareness and ensure they understand the needs of the participants. 

Main Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of participants to help them take the steps they need to gain employment. This can include CV writing, interview practice, work experience, apprenticeships, college and/or other vocational courses, paid employment opportunities.
• Work closely with local employers and engage them in signing up to the Employability programme  
• Act as main liaison between participants and professionals working with the participant to ensure that reasonable adjustments are made to enable success
• Provide information and signposting & collaboration opportunities to participants.

We are looking to recruit a self-motivated, enthusiastic, hard-working experienced Information & Advice Officer to join our organisation.

You will be committed to providing up-to-date information and advice to older people and their carers in outreach locations, via telephone, online and face to face. Working to approved quality standards, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of providing advice covering a range of topics including (but not exclusively); Welfare Benefits, Housing, Social Care and local services. Experience of delivering Welfare Benefits Advice is required.

ReachOut is a national mentoring and education charity, rooted in local communities. Working in under-resourced areas, we support young people to grow in character and confidence, sparking change in themselves and society. 

Our Youth Project Leaders are individuals who are passionate about working with young people, supporting them to reach and be confident in their potential. You may be an experienced youth worker, or have experience facilitating sessions or working with young people and leading volunteers.

Your Job Description 

As a Youth Project Leader, you will: 

• Deliver ReachOut sessions at the same partner school on the same day and time weekly during term time.

• Prepare your ReachOut sessions, following ReachOut’s curriculum and adapting the activities to the needs and interests of your assigned group.

• Facilitate engaging ReachOut sessions for the young people attending by ensuring that the voice of young people is listened to and impacts the way the sessions are planned and facilitated.

• Manage and support a group of volunteer mentors; supporting them to build strong rapport with their mentees and helping them to understand how to best adapt their mentoring approach to the young people they are working with.

• Support theyoung people in your session to reach and be confident in their potential by facilitating the creation of good mentee/mentor relationships and by running activities to build the ReachOut Character Strengths.

• Complete monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure the sessions are as impactful as possible and set up strategies with the help of your line manager to help each young person in your group reach their mentoring goal.

• Keep in touch with the parents/carers of the young people in your group about attendance, successes and challenges.

• Manage your project’s weekly admin by planning your sessions, maintaining your attendance and providing detailed project updates to your line manager.

• Attend ReachOut events and socials with their mentors. • Follow ReachOut’s policies/procedures to safeguard young people.

• Act and communicate in a professional manner, in line with ReachOut character strengths and culture.

• Attend all compulsory training.

About the role

This role is all about developing a welcoming and supportive support group community for kinship carers wherever they live. Building belonging, resilience and empowerment for support group leaders and kinship carers.

Funded by the Department for Education, our national Peer Support Service is creating a sustainable and life-changing legacy for kinship carers across England.

This is a game-changing service for kinship carers and builds on Kinship’s 10 years’ experience of developing peer support groups, and two years delivering a national service which has set up 145 new groups. 

As a Peer Support Officer, you’ll make sure we deliver an exceptional and consistent peer support service for kinship carers.  

You’ll set-up and develop new in-person groups in areas of high need, as well as supporting existing groups to thrive, developing a resilient and powerful peer support community.

Purpose of the role

Taking responsibility for the North West of England, you will reach out and work directly in local communities to develop sustainable kinship peer support groups.

You’ll need to think strategically – mapping areas and utilising resources to be effective and efficient in managing your time and building local connections.

Using community engagement techniques like coffee mornings, community events and linking with our training and support service, you’ll build local connections and relationships.

As you develop a group and recruit support group leaders, you’ll provide standardised training and help the group to navigate forming and storming – providing reassurance and support to empower the group.

Once the group is stable, you’ll transition the support group leader/s over to the ‘Hub’ team to build confidence and knowledge to run their group independently.  You’ll also support online groups and special interest groups to transition to independence. 

You’ll ensure targets are met and that kinship carers receive a good experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• In person (face-to-face) strategic outreach into local and regional communities including setting up and attending local engagement events.

• Set up and develop at least six new sustainable in person peer support groups annually, attending up to six sessions in person (if needed) before transition to self-sufficiency.

• Recruit and retain support group leaders to develop their peer support groups.

• Deliver standardised training to support group leaders (group roles and responsibilities, safeguarding, setting up, running and promoting a group).

Essential requirements include:

• Proven experience in reaching and establishing strong relationships with hidden or underserved communities in person.

• Significant experience developing peer support communities.

• Proven experience of recruiting, managing, training and supporting volunteers in community settings with an emphasis on understanding and working with vulnerable volunteers. 

• Proven experience of ensuring outcomes and impacts of services are evidenced through high quality data collection.
