About the opportunity
This is a temporary, casual opportunity at an upcoming pop-up shop in Bicester Village from 29th July - 25th August 2024. We require a Retail Manager, who will be responsible for the successful day-to-day running of the shop.
This includes opening and closing the store, tracking and reporting units and incoming, as well as managing volunteers and merchandising. Occasional evening and weekend work is required to lead and support the shop.
The Smart Works Shop is a key fundraising initiative, taking place throughout the year at various locations. The Shop brings together donations from brands and individuals, which are then sold in a premium shopping experience, at a discounted price. 100% of the proceeds go directly to Smart Works, supporting unemployed women with the clothing, coaching and confidence needed to get the job and transform their lives.
They must be able to speak confidently about the Smart Works service and the transformative power that customers are contributing to by purchasing items at the pop-up shop.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with demonstrable experience in retail and merchandising and experience of running a shop floor. If you are passionate about motivating a team and the mission of Smart Works, we would love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Opening and closing the shop.
- Tracking daily units and reporting daily numbers to the Charity.
- Co-ordinating volunteers and retail assistants, supporting them to maintain the shop floor and assisting during busy periods.
- Merchandising and maintaining the shop floor, including bringing out fresh products.
- Ensuring personalised customer experience with brand and product knowledge.
- Lead on achieving sales goals and targets.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, ensuring the floor is organised at all times.
Skills you should have
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrable experience in retail and merchandising.
- Experience in merchandising across retail categories such as fashion, accessories and lifestyle.
- Experience of using digital payment systems.
- Confident leading a small team, with experience coaching and supporting individuals to thrive in their role.
- Flexible can-do attitude and a good team player, with experience in achieving individual and team targets.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.

The Service Delivery Manager role is ideal for someone who thrives when building relationships with young people, is highly organised, and has the passion and drive to achieve outcomes in challenging environments. This is an exciting on-the-ground position, working mainly within prisons in East Midlands, but as part of a team working in prisons nationally, as well as in the community in partnership with other organisations. You will be responsible for engaging young people in prison and in the community to participate in Spark Inside’s life coaching workshops and one-to-one coaching. You will also manage our team of freelance coaches and play a key role in project management and smooth running of our coaching programmes.
To succeed in the role, you will need to build and maintain relationships with people at all levels in the criminal justice system including prisoners, prison staff of various levels and commissioners. You will also work in partnership with Youth Offending Services, the National Probation Service in the community, and other organisations as Spark Inside’s partnership work evolves. Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, the Digital and Social Media Marketing Manager will craft exciting, engaging digital and social media campaigns that deliver results for a range of audiences. The postholder will create and edit web pages using WordPress (no coding required) and deliver targeted paid-for advertising campaigns in Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads. The new Digital and Social Media Marketing Manager will also act as marketing lead for Hand in Hand’s cause related marketing partners, including creating social content, drafting blogs and press releases, working closely with the fundraising team.
To be successful, you will have marketing experience either in an in-house, or agency role, with excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills. You will be a competent digital marketer, with experience using digital marketing tools (e.g. MailChimp or HubSpot), and design tools such as Canva. You will be an effective and thoughtful communicator, able to build effective relationships with colleagues and corporate donors. What's the role about?

Location: Ideally based in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex or Greater London (north) with the ability to travel within this region.

Working closely with the Head of Facilities, the successful post holder will be responsible for the management of Facilities Assets and the implementation of Health and Safety and Environmental Management in Family Action’s Central region (approx. 40 sites). You will support with our assets across the whole of the charity, including supervising some external contractors. You will be a confident communicator who is able to work under pressure, achieve targets and meet deadlines. Your skills
You will have a strong track record in delivering Facilities Management and a focus on quality, performance, safety, welfare and management controls. We want to hire a ‘can-do’ and energetic leader who will build and sustain positive working relationships with key internal customers, while developing partnerships that will continue to evolve and effectively meet the needs of the charity and every service user we support.
Main Responsibilities:
· Conduct Health and Safety site audits to a schedule across Family Action’s Central region.
· Support responsible managers with risk assessments across Family Action’s Central region.
· Support and give advice to local management teams regarding their Health & Safety system, through regular meetings and tickets raised within the Facilities helpdesk.
· To work closely with the Head of Facilities to develop corporate services for Family Action’s Central region sites.
· Help develop the Facilities departments’ JWA (SLA) and ensure they are consistently applied and regional measurables are reported to the Head of Facilities.
· Assist local management teams with planning and undertaking repairs and refurbishment as well as the day-to-day maintenance of Family Action assets (properties and equipment) in conjunction with the relevant budget holders and landlords.
· Monitor and respond to tickets raised within the Facilities helpdesk system (SalesForce), as well as all relevant emails sent to the Facilities mailboxes.
· Collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers, including the engagement of new suppliers and nurturing of existing relationships through meetings and KPIs.

· Member of IWFM to at minimum at Affiliate level (or equivalent).
· Trained to IOSH Managing Safely Level.
· Good working knowledge of standards and legislation applicable to Facilities Management.
· Experience of delivering site relocation and mobilisation projects.
· A friendly, helpful, and welcoming manner as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Experience of setting up new properties, developing systems, and manging projects.
· Experience with Office 365, One Drive, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
