THE ROLE

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WORKER (WEST MIDLANDS) Benchmarked Salary: £18,600 - £19,200 FTE £31-2k Hours/FTE: 0.6 FTE

Department: Safeguarding on Transport UK Team

Location: Birmingham (West Midlands) area with travel to support other project areas when required

Responsible to: Programme Manager: Safeguarding Partnerships Community engagement work –

Work as part of a dynamic team delivering the Safeguarding on Transport (ST) project, in partnership with British Transport Police (BTP). You will be responsible for developing our community engagement work in the West Midlands, as well as supporting the wider UK work. This work consists of developing the Safeguarding Action Groups (SAG) and also encouraging members of the local rail industry to engage with our training and become part of the safety net for vulnerable young people on the rail network. The role will require working closely with British Transport Police, station staff and employees as well as local services in the area.

About the role

The Analysis Directorate is a team of around 50 analysts and data professionals at the heart of the Foundation’s mission. We use innovative analytical approaches to understand the health of the UK population and the performance of the health and care system. Our work informs policy, evaluates interventions, and supports improvement across the sector. We also empower analysts across the Foundation with access to high-quality data, tools, and platforms.

We are seeking a Data Delivery Lead to drive the implementation of our data strategy and lead the delivery of our data platforms and infrastructure. This is a pivotal role within the Analysis Directorate, focused on enabling the work of our Data Team — a group of data engineering and data management specialists.

You will oversee the rollout and improvement of key platforms including our Secure Data Environment (SDE), Open Data Environment (ODE), and Trends platform. You’ll manage supplier relationships, coordinate delivery across multiple workstreams, and ensure our data systems are secure, user-focused, and strategically aligned.

This role is ideal for someone with strong programme management experience, a solid understanding of data systems and governance, and the ability to lead across a technically complex environment. You’ll be central to shaping how data flows through the organisation and how it supports high-quality analysis.

Overview

At Operation Smile UK, we work with global colleagues to improve the lives of those living with cleft conditions around the world – by providing surgery and comprehensive care services to patients and strengthening health care systems in the countries where we work. Operation Smile UK’s Partnerships Team works to maximise high-potential income channels such as corporate partnerships, major donors and trusts and foundations. The Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer will play a key role in the team securing critical income from global and national corporate partners and from our network of committed community fundraisers.

We are looking for a candidate who thrives on building relationships – with partners and with colleagues in the UK and around the world. You will be a brilliant communicator, someone who can juggle multiple priorities and inspire people to believe in our story. Ideally, you will have at least a year’s experience in a relationship management role (in a commercial or fundraising setting), and a particular interest in international development. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Fundraising

· Take the lead on managing a portfolio of small and medium corporate partners - taking responsibility for all aspects of these partnerships, including communication, staff activities, events, reporting, income collection and acknowledgements

· Provide support to the Senior P&P Manager in activities relating to OSUK’s global corporate partners through managing employee-led activities across the portfolio.

· To manage and develop new initiatives for employee engagement and community participants

· Support on new business acquisition, specifically in creating new avenues for income generation through existing partnerships.

· Responsible for managing inbound enquiries relating to corporate partnerships

· Lead on producing corporate-related social media and communications content

· Maintain orderly upkeep of all relevant records and databases

Community Fundraising

· Lead on the handling of all inbound community fundraising correspondence, including donations received, merchandise and speaking requests

· Develop a strong understanding of fundraising platforms such as Just Giving and Enthuse, maintaining their upkeep and reconciliation with Operation Smile's financial and reporting systems

Additional Responsibilities

· Expand your understanding of Operation Smile’s programmatic work globally, of cleft lip and palate conditions, health system strengthening and the global surgery sector

· Support other areas of the Partnership Team’s work, including events.

About the role:

This role is based in our Islington office with the flexibility of hybrid working, travel will also be required to other VS offices across London.

As a Children & Young People's Caseworker, you will be required to:

• Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments and ensure each CYP receives an individual tailored support package that fully meets their identified needs, including safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
• Provide one to one support to children and young people living in families affected by domestic abuse.
• Effectively manage a caseload of different risk level cases of approx. 12-15 young people and provide specialist support to reduce the risk and increase safety
• Review the assessment of risk on an ongoing basis, ensuring appropriate and immediate action is taken in respect of any CYP facing significant harm, making the necessary referrals to MARAC and local safeguarding processes as required given the legal framework relating to the protection of children and the policy and procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children's Board.
• To consult with and involve children and young people in making decisions about themselves and the development of the service.
• Establish links with relevant statutory partners in Social Care, Education, Health, Police and Housing, with the intention of supporting children and young people who have been impacted by domestic abuse. Attend meetings as required.
• To advocate on behalf of children and young people with experience of domestic abuse to ensure the diverse needs of children and young people using the service are met.

You will need to have the following essential skills:

• Experience of working directly with vulnerable children and young people aged 4 - 17, on a one to one basis, with a proven ability to work in creative and appropriate ways to engage with children and young people
• Experience with assessing risk and taking appropriate action to safeguard children and young people experiencing domestic abuse.
• An understanding of the current issues for children and young people experiencing crime, domestic abuse and relationship abuse
• Experience of delivering effective multi-agency and partnership work, including building relationships with statutory and voluntary CYP service providers
• Effective organisational skills, including experience with planning, prioritising, managing crises and a caseload, and maintaining accurate and confidential case records
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills and Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, databases, internet and Outlook

JOB DESCRIPTION

Working to specific income targets, the Supporter Engagement Manager is responsible for acquisition campaigns including regular giving, direct mail appeals, online fundraising, legacies;  retention campaigns including ongoing stewardship to increase supporter engagement. You will grow relationships with supporters and work closely with wider fundraising team to devise and execute creative and effective stewardship journeys. You will have a sound understanding of fundraising membership schemes and sector regulations, with knowledge of best practice CRM and/or fundraising database.

The Supporter Engagement Manager will work with the Senior Head of Supporter Engagement to develop the strategy for increasing income across all individual giving streams and then work with the Marketing and Communications Manager and the wider team to implement it. You will play an instrumental part in creatively engaging supporters to get involved in our high-value campaigns, events and regular giving programme. This includes our annual matched-funding campaign and reoccurring giving programmes, which last year raised £1m and £150k respectively. The post-holder will be key in taking the Individual Giving programme to the next level, providing proactive engagement opportunities and efficiently work with data to provide timely, targeted, relevant and engaging communications to our various supporters.

You will manage an interesting and diverse portfolio of funding agreements and ensure that the monitoring and evaluation are carried out; distilling any learning from the portfolio in line with the Units commitment to Learning and Impact.

About the role
We’re looking for a warm, proactive organiser to help more women seeking sanctuary access our Touching Safe Ground programme — weekly trauma-informed yoga and English for wellbeing sessions in East London. You’ll reach out to asylum hostels, GP surgeries and community and legal services to connect with women who may benefit. You’ll support them in attending, help sessions run smoothly, and manage practicalities like childcare, refreshments and expenses. A key part of the role is also building a brilliant volunteer team — recruiting, supporting and coordinating volunteers who make our sessions possible. You’ll also work closely with the Project Lead and colleagues on outreach, monitoring and partnership-building. This hands-on, local role is perfect if you’re organised, people-focused, and committed to empowering women who have faced hardship or trauma. Supporting over 750 children and nearly 1,000 families annually, Acorns Children’s Hospice is a vital lifeline for families across the West Midlands and Gloucestershire during unimaginably difficult times.

Palliative care for children aged 0–18 is delivered at Acorns’ hospices in Birmingham, Worcester, and Walsall, as well as in family homes and other community settings. Acorns’ holistic, tailored approach is designed to meet each child’s clinical, emotional, cultural, religious, and spiritual needs.

Corporate fundraising at Acorns is on an exciting growth journey, with ambitions to increase income from £800K to £1M in the next two years. This role offers a warm and well-developed patch, a supportive team culture, and space to be creative in how you grow and uplift corporate partnerships. You’ll be the lead relationship manager for a portfolio of established partners across Birmingham and the Black Country, focusing on stewardship, renewals, and smart uplifts.

While the focus is primarily account management (around 75%), you’ll also contribute to new business through activities like COTY pitches. As Corporate Fundraising Manager, you will:

• Lead the stewardship and growth of existing corporate partnerships, using creative and strategic methods to increase value and longevity

• Collaborate with the Business Development Manager on new business opportunities

Ideal skills and experience:

• Strong corporate fundraising or account management background, ideally with experience managing partnerships in the £30K–£50K+ range

• Comfortable pitching and presenting to corporate audiences at all levels

The Role;

• Provide a caring, safe, secure and accepting environment that meets the physical, health, social needs and rights of the young people. This will include supporting less experienced staff via positive and effective team working to achieve high quality standards of care that are set and agreed by the Registered Manager on behalf of the Trust. This work will aim to respect and promote the needs of each young person arising from their racial, cultural and religious background.
• Assist with the assessments of need and formulation of plans. This involves working in partnership with other agencies and taking into account the wishes and feelings of the young people, their parents and other persons with parental responsibility, in line with legislation pertaining to the young people.
• Maximise educational opportunities and achievements for the young people looked after within the unit by assisting in identifying, establishing and supporting educational provision and contributing to educational reviews.
• Develop and maintain a good level of awareness of child protection issues, assessing and recording risk. This will include referring child protection issues to the Registered Manager and incorporating consistent boundary setting into everyday practice in order to ensure effectiveness in the prevention and appropriate management of challenging behaviour.
• Maintain accurate and up to date records of the work undertaken with the young people and complete written reports for planning meetings and statutory reviews as necessary. This will be in consultation with the line manager and be undertaken to a standard commensurate with the professional aims of the service.
• Undertake a range of domestic duties, including cooking and some cleaning, to a good standard, to ensure compliance with health and safety policies and the guidelines for young people and staff.
• Take responsibility for the promotion of safeguarding and the welfare of children and young persons for who they are responsible for.

About you;

• Good standard of written and oral English
• QCF(NVQ level 3) in health and social care (CCYP) or equivalent or willingness to achieve award within timescales set by trust
• Working in a residential setting, undertaking the full range of duties in a well planned way that respects and values the young people as individuals.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to write reports
• Working with young people and an understanding of the issues affecting them.
