Join Wings for Life and take the lead in shaping one of the most exciting and impactful event portfolios in the charity sector. You will drive the strategy, growth and delivery of a diverse programme of premium fundraising events, mass participation experiences and high-profile partnerships that inspire supporters, engage world-class brands and generate vital funds to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
Your portfolio will span exclusive owned fundraising events such as Mikey’s Mountain Miles, our skiing fundraiser with Mike Tindal MBE; The Clay Day, a premium sporting and hospitality experience with our Formula 1 partners; and two established golf events, including an owned event, Gourmet Golf, and a supporter-led initiative. You will also play a central role in maximising opportunities through major third-party events and partnerships, including the Wings for Life World Run, the London Marathon 2027, and high-profile Red Bull events.
This is more than event management. It is an opportunity to identify new opportunities, develop innovative event concepts and create unforgettable supporter experiences that stand out in a crowded fundraising landscape. Working closely with senior leadership, ambassadors, partners and supporters, you will combine creativity, commercial acumen and flawless execution to grow income, build awareness and strengthen Wings for Life’s position as a leading charity brand. Whether enhancing existing events or creating entirely new experiences within and beyond the Red Bull universe, you will play a pivotal role in delivering ambitious growth and lasting impact.
What We're Looking For
We’re seeking an ambitious, creative and highly organised event leader who thrives on turning great ideas into exceptional experiences. You will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality events, achieving ambitious commercial and fundraising targets, and building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Equally comfortable developing strategy and rolling up your sleeves to deliver flawless event execution, you will bring the energy, entrepreneurial mindset and attention to detail needed to drive growth across our events portfolio.
As a manager, you will lead and develop our Event & Fundraising Specialist, providing coaching, support and professional development while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture. You will also play an active role in supporting our individual fundraising programme and championing a ‘one team’ approach across the organisation.
Success in this role will require strong commercial awareness, budget management expertise and the confidence to negotiate, influence and present to senior stakeholders, partners and Board members. You will be adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a relentless focus on delivering outstanding supporter experiences and maximising return on investment.
Experience working with premium brands, VIP audiences, luxury hospitality or high-end events would be advantageous, as would a passion for identifying new opportunities, creating innovative event concepts and challenging conventional thinking. Above all, you will be a solutions-focused self-starter with exceptional relationship-building skills, a genuine passion for our mission and the drive to help Wings for Life achieve extraordinary impact.
We value experience, talent and results over formal qualifications. If you have the vision, energy and expertise to grow one of the most exciting event portfolios in the charity sector, we'd love to hear from you.

WHO WE ARE
University Hospitals Birmingham Charity consists of four hospital charities supporting some of the busiest hospitals in Birmingham – Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital.
Being in hospital can be really tough physically and emotionally. This is why our hospital charities do as much as they can to help patients and their families feel as supported as possible during their treatment.
Each hospital charity provides the added extras that are "over and above" what the NHS can fund as standard. This includes life-saving equipment, state-of-the-art facilities, training and research, as well as free accommodation and patient comforts.
Across UHB Charity we are currently raising funds for a Total Body PET CT Scanner as well as our Children's and Newborn Appeals and Home from Home accommodation for civilians and military personnel, to name just a few.
As a Legacy Administrator you will help us raise much needed funds that will make a real difference to our patients and their families.
JOB SUMMARY
This role is primarily based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, with the expectation of occasional travel to other hospital sites.
This post is within the Fundraising Team at University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, which is the official charity of Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital, Solihull Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
This is a new role within the Charity Team. In this role, you will be a crucial part in ensuring that all legacies to the charity are administered in a timely and sensitive manner, maintaining and building great relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
This role will involve occasional evening and weekend work at charity events and events organised by our supporters.

Head of Development | The Line
As The Line enters its next chapter following its tenth anniversary, we're seeking an ambitious and strategic fundraising leader to help secure our long-term financial sustainability. This is a rare opportunity to shape fundraising for one of London's most distinctive cultural organisations.
The Line is East London's public art trail that connects Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and The O2, following the waterways and the line of the Greenwich Meridian. Our mission is to connect communities and inspire individuals through a dynamic outdoor exhibition programme where everyone can explore art, nature and heritage for free.
Locally rooted and internationally significant, The Line enables artists to connect with people and place in new ways. Recent installations include works by pioneering minimalist sculptor Rasheed Araeen, the first public artwork in the UK by artist Zineb Sedira, and a co-commission with the local community by Turner Prize-winning artist Helen Cammock.
The role
This role is suited to an experienced fundraiser with a strong track record of securing significant income, including six-figure gifts, within the charitable sector. Working closely with the Director and Board, the Head of Development will lead fundraising strategy, strengthen supporter relationships, and diversify income streams to support The Line's future growth and impact.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, you'll secure income from trusts and foundations, individual donors, corporate partners and other sources; build and manage relationships with funders and supporters; identify new opportunities for growth; and ensure excellent stewardship across all fundraising activities. You'll also line manage the Development Coordinator and oversee freelance fundraising support.
Key responsibilities include:
What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced fundraiser with proven success in generating significant income within the charitable sector, ideally in arts and culture. You'll have:
Desirable: senior management experience, established fundraising networks and sector relationships, knowledge of tax-efficient giving, and experience managing donor programmes internationally.
What we offer
At The Line, we value an open, inclusive and nurturing environment to promote collaboration, creativity and wellbeing. We believe in the transformative impact of art and nature, and are committed to increasing access to the arts and challenging barriers to participation.
Equal opportunities
We are committed to equality and diversity within our workforce and in all opportunities. Our recruitment process is open to all, but we would particularly like to encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds, those who identify as LGBTQ+, those from lower socio-economic backgrounds and those who identify as disabled, as these groups are currently underrepresented in the cultural sector more widely.
How to apply
Please complete the application form, including your CV (no more than 2 sides) and a covering letter (no more than 2 sides) telling us how you meet the essential and desirable experience in the person specification. Please also complete the Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form.
The closing date for applications is 5pm, Thursday 30th July 2026. Interviews are expected to take place on Monday 10th August 2026.
If you would like any further information, have any specific requirements, or would like to discuss any aspect of the role in confidence, please get in touch to arrange a call.
