Job description

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And its girls who are most affected. Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for more than 80 years and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Opportunity

As part of the Global Logistics & Procurement team in Plan, this post will provide support in designing, co-creating, developing and maintaining Supply Chain policies, standards, procedures and tools, which reflect best practice to help enable project delivery improvements through improved Supply Chain performance across the organisation.

As Process Improvement Officer, you will support the Process and Standards Lead with technical processes mapping, improvement and expertise across Operational Planning, Procurement, Assets, Transport, Inventory and Warehouse Management, Distributions and GIK (Gifts in Kind). You will also be involved in supporting the assurance and audit processes.

In this role you will engage with members of staff at different levels and functions within the Global Hub and also in National Organisations, Regional Hubs and Country Offices.

The Individual

We are looking to recruit an organised and self-directed individual who has previous knowledge and experience of supporting the development and maintenance of processes and procedures in a Supply Chain environment. You will also have experience of supporting the design and embedding of change management activities (specifically Business Processes), and the implementation of processes within a complex organisation.

You will be able to work across a diverse organisation to manage stakeholders and ensure high levels of engagement to achieve desired outcomes. You will also ideally have knowledge and experience of major institutional donor rules and regulations, such as USAID, ECHO, DFIF and UN agencies.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills. Your attention to detail, consistency and thoroughness will be excellent, as will your ability to be a pro-active team player with a flexible and dynamic approach.

Location: Global Hub, Woking.

Type of Role: 6-month fixed term contract

Reports to: Systems and Standards Manager

Salary: £30,000 - £37,350

Closing Date: Sunday 5th January 2020

Early application is encouraged as we will review applications throughout the advertising period and reserve the right to close the advert early.

Please note that only applications and CVs written in English will be accepted.

A range of pre-employment checks will be undertaken in conformity with Plan International's Child Protection Policy.

As an international child centred community development organisation, Plan International is fully committed to promoting the realisation of children's rights including their right to protection from violence and abuse. That means we have particular responsibilities to children that we come into contact with.

Plan International believes that in a world where children face so many threats of harm, it is our duty to ensure that we, as an organisation, do everything we can to keep children safe. We must not contribute in any way to harming or placing children at risk.

Plan International operates an equal opportunities policy and actively encourages diversity, welcoming applications from all areas of the international community.
