Job description

Since 2004 New Routes has been working with, and supporting, refugees, asylum seekers and isolated migrants in Norwich to support their wellbeing and ambitions and by providing skill-building and social programmes in a safe and welcoming environment. We promote cross-cultural integration and community awareness, working with individuals and families from over 60 countries of origin. We work closely with an extensive network of partner organisations, both third-sector and statutory. New Routes is one-third of the Norwich Integration Partnership (NIP), alongside English+ and the Bridge Plus+.

We are now seeking to recruit a Communications, Community Development and Volunteers Coordinator to support us in our vital work.  We are flexible, and depending on the skills set, this role could suit one person for 4-5 days per week or two people for 2 and 2-3 days per week.

Principal purpose of the post – Communications and Community Development Coordinator

To manage internal and external communications and marketing campaigns to raise the profile of the charity, engage new audiences and existing stakeholders, and generate income.

Job Summary

Building new links and strengthening existing ones with relevant local organisations. Implement the charity’s communications strategy and supporting the Chief Executive. The post will work closely with senior staff and trustees to manage internal and external communications and marketing campaigns to raise the profile of the charity, engage new audiences and existing stakeholders, and generate income.

To recruit, train and manage volunteers.

Job Summary

To develop a volunteer strategy that promotes activities that increase well-being and ensures that all of our participants are reaching their full potential and able to make a positive contribution.

Other Duties

  • To represent New Routes Integration at local and regional meetings as appropriate
  • Contribute towards raising funds for delivery of new partnerships and New Routes’ activities and initiatives
  • To provide monthly reports to the Chief Executive, and the Board, as appropriate.

Compliance and Financial Management

  • To carry out all duties in compliance with appropriate procedures, including in the maintenance of records and information.

General Requirements

  • To ensure adherence to policies and procedures with particular reference to race equality, diversity and Health & Safety policies
  • To work in a flexible manner and to be willing to be undertake other duties as reasonably requested.

Special Conditions of the Post

  • To be able to work flexibly – including evenings and weekends as required.
