About the Role

Through our range of programmes, we work to inspire and empower young people, whatever their background to succeed in work and life. A unique opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to manage the delivery of our EDI programmes and have a real impact on the participation of underrepresented groups in our programmes, as well as building on our established position within the skills sector.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing, managing and evaluating senior stakeholder relationships with external networks. With a proven track record of consistently delivering projects and programmes with high-quality results, the successful candidate will have up to date ED&I knowledge and demonstrable experience of raising the profile of an organisation within this setting.  The candidate will be experienced in development of programmes and partnerships to suit delivery of strategic objectives, and be able to project manage internal colleagues to deliver against set KPIs.

The successful candidate will have a passion for working within a charity that focuses on developing young people from all backgrounds, and will have the experience, knowledge and understanding to drive forward EDI in external facing programmes.

Role purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead, develop and deliver WorldSkills UK’s external Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) programmes supported by stakeholder engagement strategies across our network of industry, education and government. The role will ensure that we engage external stakeholders to help deliver our ambition to be a leader, partner and ally in creating positive change for ED&I in the skills sector.

Key tasks and responsibilities

1. Deliver positive action activity for change:

• Support the development and delivery of WorldSkills UK’s external ED&I strategy. Ensure it is fit for purpose, has recognised long term goals and will deliver measurable change, reflecting organisational priorities around increased engagement with ethnic minority groups and females. Provide an overarching framework and help further develop strategic KPIs for our ED&I work, ensuring effective use of data, monitoring progress and performance.
• Work with the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager to develop action plans that will drive our continuous improvement:
  • Support our skills competition development programmes to increase the diversity of young people engaged
  • Support the development of role models to showcase the impact of our work and encourage diversity in key areas of industry, including future priority skill areas
  • Support the development of learning resources that aid engagement with underrepresented groups
  • Support teams to ensure ED&I matters are considered and addressed as key components of all strategies, plans and programmes.

2. Manage the ED&I Advisory Group:

• This is a unique opportunity to work with experienced and prominent senior individuals from across education and industry who are invested in driving the agenda for ED&I.
• Lead the administration and ongoing development of our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group.
• Engage the Group to help support, advise and challenge WorldSkills UK on its actions to remove obstacles and barriers faced by young people from under-represented backgrounds in our programmes.
• Report regularly to the Group on progress against KPI’s and facilitate reports for the WorldSkills UK Board.

3. Project Manage the ED&I Heroes Awards

• The Awards is an established flagship event which provides a platform for WorldSkills UK to celebrate success with its partners, amplify best practice and inspire others to drive change across the skills systems in education and business.
• Project manage delivery of the annual Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Heroes Awards, supported by relevant internal teams
  • Establish the nominations process
  • Co-ordinate the judging panel
  • Organise the awards ceremony
  • Manage the support of the awards partners.

4. Manage strategic relationships

• Manage a portfolio of ED&I focused Strategic Partnerships with organisations from across the skills sector, facilitating their support and engagement with our EDI programmes.
• Grow our network of partners to widen our reach, help further drive work in this area and collectively impact on the sector.
• Advise and support the development of the CEO’s international activities on ED&I with WorldSkills International (WSI).

5. Raise the profile of WorldSkills UK’s ED&I work:

• Work with teams across the organisation to support our Mission to ignite a national and global movement to help more young people, regardless of their background, get the best possible start in work and life.
• Support the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager and Marketing and Communications Team to showcase the impact of our programmes:
  • Help to externally profile and articulate the value and impact of our activities using the channels and tools available
  • Seek opportunities to advocate for our work through stakeholder engagement and networking
  • Support the Corporate Partnerships team to identify and secure commercial income related to our ED&I initiatives.
  • Work across the organisation to build on existing external relationships and develop new strategic partnerships that reinforce our position as a skills sector leader.

6. Internal ED&I Liaison:

• Whilst not responsible for WorldSkills UK’s internal ED&I activities and agenda it is anticipated that the post holder will spend up to 10% of their time supporting and working with the Corporate Affairs team on internal ED&I matters, with the remaining 90% spent on external work.
• It is not essential that the postholder has extensive experience in this area.

7. General

In addition to the key tasks and responsibilities set out above, all employees at this level are expected to:

• Produce requirement specifications in line with WorldSkills UK’s procurement strategies for all outsourced activity.
• Maintain WorldSkills UK’s established management policies for dealing with risks and issues for the Corporate Partnerships team and the wider organisation.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of WorldSkills UK’s strategic priorities and annual business objectives.
• Promote and comply with WorldSkills UK’s Employee Handbook and the policies contained therein with particular reference to those related to Health and Safety and on equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Carry out any other duty as may be reasonably assigned that is consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility. Any significant changes will be made in consultation with the post holder acknowledging experience, education and ability.

This role is office based (as above) but with flexible hybrid working. It is expected the postholder will attend the office at least once or twice a week.

Full time working hours are a minimum of 35 hours per week, normal working hours are 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday although we pride ourselves on having a flexible approach to our working practices and service delivery and are happy to discuss flexible working options, including part time, with suitable candidates.

25 days’ annual leave [which will increase by one additional day for each completed year of service up to a maximum of 30 days] plus public and bank holidays.

About the role

The role of the Corporate and Community Partnerships Manager is to generate income to meet the Charity’s fundraising requirements by maintaining and developing successful partnerships with corporate and community group supporters, through donations, sponsorship, employee and group fundraising activities and events (organised both by Hope and third parties).

The Hepatitis C Trust develops projects nationally where peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training, increase hepatitis C awareness, and access to testing and treatment for people living with hepatitis C. 

Working with the South West Peninsula ODN, The Hepatitis C Trust are now expanding this commitment through the introduction of the HCC (Hepatocellular Carcinoma) surveillance and early liver disease detection programme.

We’re looking for a part-time Senior Operations Manager with extensive operational, business, Health & Safety, IT and HR experience. A member of the Senior Management Team, this person will play a vital role in enabling Time & Talents to deliver our strategy, maintain best practice and develop robust long-term plans.

Time & Talents is a lively, busy community centre in the heart of Rotherhithe, SE16.  Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 137 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with volunteering and children and families’ projects.

T&T has grown substantially over the last 5 years, and we are in an exciting time for the charity. We are reviewing our long-term aims and changing local needs to ensure  programme delivery continues our extensive track record of positive outcomes. We also need to review our current contracted provision and best practices in the charity’s business and operations.

Salford Foodbank provides emergency food parcels to local people who are referred to us in crisis. Food is donated, sorted and packed at our warehouse, then delivered to our 7 centres across Salford, where teams of volunteers greet people as they pick up their food parcels. People can also access support and advice at our centres to help them maximise their income and ensure they are less likely to need to use the foodbank again.

You’ll be joining a friendly team of 6 part-time staff, 6 Trustees and approx. 80 volunteers, all dedicated to supporting people facing hardship. We are part of The Trussell Trust, a nationwide network of foodbanks.

Rate of pay: £21,000 per annum for 22.5 hours per week (£35,000 FTE pro-rata)

Full-time / part-time: Part time role 22.5 hours per week (flexible, home based within the North West with some contact hours at Salford Foodbank warehouse/office)

•  This is an exciting opportunity to join Salford Foodbank in a new role, accountable to the Foodbank Manager and the board of trustees. As the need for Foodbank services continues to grow Salford Foodbank has developed and expanded. • In order to maintain our current services and further develop, we need to grow our annual fundraised income.
• Through this new organisational role, you’ll proactively create and grow fundraising income, reach, and support from grant giving trusts and foundations as well as corporate organisations across Salford and Greater Manchester.  
• Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of growing income and building relationships with trusts and foundations as well as corporate partners to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPI’s. Key Responsibilities:

• Through excellent, comprehensive and considered research, you’ll identify and prioritise a pool of potential grant giving trusts and foundations funders for Salford Foodbank. You’ll forge relationships with those funders, develop and submit timely and winning funding applications.
• You’ll manage the ongoing relationships with grant giving trusts and foundations funders, ensuring they receive excellent stewardship, timely reporting and doing all you can maximising potential for further funding
• You’ll proactively identify, engage and build good relationships with prospective corporate donors, successfully securing them as funding partners. Alongside this you’ll deepen engagement and grow our relationships and partnerships with existing corporate donors.
• Working with colleagues across Salford Foodbank, you’ll develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage grant giving trusts, foundations and corporate partners and that can successfully align our vision and work with their needs, motivations, areas of interests and values.
• You’ll research potential funding opportunities from the local council and local authorities.
• You will develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio. You’ll establish a fundraising pipeline, including a range of KPI’s that can be tracked and that will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
• You’ll work collaboratively with other Trussell Trust food banks across the Greater Manchester area, identifying and progressing opportunities for joint funding proposals and partnerships.
• You’ll forge strong relationships with colleagues across the wider Trussell Trust network, sharing best practice and learning from other charities across the network. You’ll proactively take advantage of any fundraising training and skills development opportunities and engage with any joint fundraising opportunities.
• You’ll be willing to carry out other reasonable duties contributing to the overall aims of the Foodbank.

Skills

• You’ll have good, established experience of trusts and foundations fundraising as well as corporate partnerships fundraising.
•  With excellent written and verbal communication and relationship management skills. You’ll be able to inspire and motivate new and existing funders.

Background

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3250 children in 2024-25.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary

Chapter One is seeking a Birmingham/West Midlands Programme Manager from September 2024 who is an excellent communicator and is able both to motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year.

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently around the Birmingham and West Midlands area. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise

• Analyse and manipulate data (largely in Google sheets) to produce reports and identify trends

• Create monthly data summaries for all participating classrooms

• Lead annual review meetings for senior leadership at participating schools

• Support programme monitoring, evaluation and research as required

• Coordinate in person and virtual school ‘visits’ of volunteer teams to classrooms where necessary

• Liaison with corporate partners as required

• Weekly communication and status updates with Senior Programme Manager(s) and wider team

• As a new school year approaches, secure commitments from returning schools and find and target new schools to join Chapter One’s programme

Role Requirements:

You will have experience of delivering against financial targets, along with the ability to translate complex information into a compelling ask in both verbal and written form. As a Philanthropy Manager in DARO, you will be innovative, self-motivated, and take ownership of fundraising opportunities in this area and generate significant gifts for amazing philanthropic projects. You will have an enthusiasm for building relationships, the skill to interact with high-level donors and supporters, and the ability to showcase the sector-leading academic research to a range of audiences.

Mind in Croydon is a charity concerned with the welfare of people with mental health problems living in the London Borough of Croydon and the surrounding areas. Mind in Croydon delivers Mental Health Transformation Program services alongside Croydon BME Forum, these include Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space and Mental Health Personal Independence Coordinators. Other services include Recovery Space, Advocacy, Active Minds, Carers Support, Peer Support In-Reach, Social Networking, Counselling, and an Information Service.

This exciting role will manage the provision of a non-clinical Recovery Space (crisis café) funded by South London Partnership Commissioning. This project operates in the day and evenings, people are referred by our Trusted Assessors in various Teams such as Croydon University Hospital, Psychiatric Liaison, Assessment and Liaison, Croydon College, Home Treatment Team and others.

The aim of the service is to divert people, who would be better supported elsewhere, away from Accident and Emergency (A&E) and towards services that can support with their immediate crisis within the Borough of Croydon. The Recovery Space Service Manager leads this service which is non-clinical but a warm and welcoming setting to support and hold individuals during the day and evening. The Recovery Space service referrals will not be accepted after 10pm for attendance at night.

The role will work closely at senior operational level with external partners, clinical, commissioning, and voluntary sector organisations to plan, develop and promote the highest quality service. They will manage a team of nine staff, three are Crisis Workers, operating a day service, one outreach crisis worker also operating during the day and five Recovery Space Workers in the evening.  The role will need to produce reports, develop, and implement policies and procedures in line with best practice and to ensure the service is making a difference to people’s lives.  The role will work with other service managers including those managers within the Transformation services to ensure a One Team approach to provide an effective and efficient service for clients.

FareShare Midlands is the region’s largest food redistribution charity, fighting food poverty and hunger by tackling waste. We source good quality food that is surplus to requirements from the food industry. An army of volunteers help redistribute this food to over 500 frontline charities and community groups such as school breakfast clubs, community centres and organisations supporting those who are homeless, unemployed, socially isolated and recovering from addiction. These organisations provide meals and food parcels to over 67,000 vulnerable people every week.   We also support people through our Employability programmes, enabling them to learn skills and find rewarding work – some for the first time.  

Hunger is a growing issue in the UK and while there is surplus food that is otherwise going to waste, we believe that this food should be used to feed people first.

The Role

FareShare Midlands is a high-profile charity with stakeholders from varying sectors not least over 500 companies in the food industry and FareShare UK.  You will work towards, and achieve, a best-in-class in operation not accepting standards or a service that falls short of this.

As the senior person on site, you will be the key point of contact for operations, logistics and stock allocation for your region. You will be responsible for all compliance issues including food hygiene, health & safety and security of the depot and the safety and wellbeing of all visitors, contractors, depot staff and volunteers.

The main role will be to lead the successful day to day operations and ensure the ongoing success of the FareShare Midlands Regional Centres. This will involve working closely with staff and volunteers to ensure that all activities, including operational and order processing are completed to the agreed standard & daily timetable.

With colleagues in the Supply chain & Development functions, you will help develop new operational/logistic activity and lead on the implementation of growth of your RCs activity, capacity and output.

You will report to the Regional Warehouse Operations Manager and will be a key member of the Operations team across the Midlands region. You will identify and share good practise within and outside the Midlands, working closely with colleagues in the other regional centres.

In agreement with the Regional Warehouse Operations Manager, you will set out relevant Ops KPIs and targets and will join daily calls and weekly meetings to discuss and help resolve issues across the Midlands region, working as ‘one team’ with colleagues from other functions and regions.

Opening times:

Over the week the depot will be open for the hours required, with staff working 37.5 hours per week which may include working in evenings and weekends on a rota basis if the performance and growth of the region requires it. You will work with the Regional Operations Manager to implement the shift patterns required to provide the service to our members and communities.

Main responsibilities

Job responsibilities will prioritise but not be limited to:

1. Operations:

· Co-ordinate the work schedule and daily activities of the depot, within the guidelines of FareShare Midlands policies and procedures on food safety and Health & Safety

The Task Ahead: Finance Manager

As The Difference moves from its early start-up phase into the delivery of our 2025-30 strategy, our programmes and sector-influencing work are expanding to reach more schools and to deepen our impact. Alongside this growth, our team - and the operational function which supports them - is also growing.

As Finance Manager, you will be a key member of the Finance & Operations team. You will hold end-to-end responsibility for the finance function, from reconciliations to budgeting. You will decide where and how our existing processes could be improved, as well as developing new systems that will underpin our work as a larger and more established charity. You will be supported by the Director of People, Finance & Operations, as well as our external auditors.

The Difference is still a small and growing charity. Areas of Responsibility

The Difference is looking for a Finance Manager to lead our finance function in the following ways:

• Oversee our internal bookkeeping, payment, and accounting processes, and improve these systems ongoingly.

Why Work for The Difference?

Schooling isn’t working for the children who need it most. Every week in England 109 children – equivalent to three full classrooms – are permanently excluded. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Since the pandemic, school suspensions have risen significantly, as has persistent absenteeism. 1 in 5 children are missing more than 10% of their time in school. Children who are excluded or persistently absent are much more likely to already be experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage. They are more likely to live in poverty, have additional learning needs, suffer mental health challenges, or experience a lack of safety outside school. Certain ethnicities are also disproportionately affected, notably Gypsy Roma Traveller and black Caribbean children. 

Exclusion and high rates of absence can have a dramatic effect on life chances. These young people are more likely to drop out of education or employment, become vulnerable to long-term mental ill health, or be at risk of criminal exploitation. The Difference believes that children and young people deserve better and that the education system has to change.

Our Organisation 

The Difference is a young education charity, founded to change the story on lost learning.  By 2030, we want rates of exclusion and absence to be falling nationally and for schools to be better equipped to support all children, including those who may be vulnerable. The Difference was born out of a year of research into school exclusions with think-tank IPPR. This research identified a lack of inclusion expertise in schools and proposed a new leadership development programme to fill this gap. In 2018, Difference founder Kiran hired the team who took this idea from concept to reality, beginning work with our first schools.

The Difference is now a 22-strong team delivering multiple school leadership programmes, alongside a growing research and policy arm. The team is supported by our Youth Advisory Board, made up of young people who have experienced exclusion and who provide their expertise and insights on how school inclusion work should be done. This work is needed more than ever. Effects of COVID-19, coupled with the spiralling cost of living, have substantially increased levels of vulnerability. Schools serving excluded pupils face under-funding. The Difference has had excellent early impact but there is work ahead to capture this, share learning with schools and policy-makers, and grow our capacity to lower exclusions across England.
