Shades Project Worker 

Location: Remote working in primary to secondary schools and parishes within Bolton Deanery 

Contract Type: 5-year fixed term / Full time until 31st December 2028

A project has been established that is currently working with 33 schools and 33 churches in developing discipleship pathways for children and young people in Bolton. One key aspect of this project is the ‘Shades Project’, which focuses on racial justice and faith, supporting schools and churches in developing a culture for all children and young people, regardless of racial background, to thrive and flourish. In response to the exciting growth of the Shades Project, they are looking to appoint a Shades Project Worker to support the growing opportunities for Christian discipleship and to embed the Shades ethos in primary and secondary schools and parishes in Bolton deanery. 

The Shades Project Worker will work with the Shades team in primary and secondary schools, delivering Shades Collective Worship and Shades ‘Faith and Identity’ workshops. They will also lead Shades Ambassadors groups for those children and young people who are passionate about growing in their understanding of racial justice, the Christian faith, and becoming courageous advocates. The Shades Project Worker will also work with Bolton parishes and mission communities to promote the Christian message of God’s love for all of his children, encouraging children, young people, and adults to celebrate their God-given identities and to grow spiritually. 

The Shades Project Worker will have many opportunities for training and development, as well as the creative freedom to develop initiatives for children and young people. They will work within a highly motivated and supportive team, who are committed to prayer and to welcoming children and young people into the life of the church. 

The post holder should have experience of volunteering with children or young people in a church and/or school context. They will have a good knowledge of anti-racism and racial justice and a strong passion for a combined focus on the Christian faith and racial justice, as well as experience working with diverse communities. 

To succeed, they need to be enthusiastic, relational, self-motivated, and able to lead in a range of different contexts. They will be creative and able to lead and support activities in schools and parishes. They will be excellent communicators, with good interpersonal skills, sensitivity, and an ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. They will be able to build and maintain effective working partnerships and have a working understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.

An opportunity has arisen for a lead Support worker to work within our Sanctuary crisis intervention and prevention service, based in Fore Street in Enfield. We act as a short-term A&E and Emergency services alternative, providing support to individuals in the Enfield Borough aged 18+. 

This role is to provide leadership and support to the Sanctuary team on shift. The role will:

• Lead shifts during the week, providing support to team members via case management support, escalation, Health and Safety guidance
• Support the Sanctuary Manager to embed processes within the service, and ensure that these are carried out
• Work alongside the Manager and team to ensure that the service is operating to high quality standard.
• Provide support in times of emotional distress for clients. The support worker will provide a calm, supportive presence.

 The role will support clients through co-producing support plans with practical and therapeutic support offerings, as well as contributing to the development of a warm welcoming environment and ‘safe space’ to be.

This position would suit someone with a minimum of 2 years experience of working with people with mild, moderate and severe mental health issues. Ideally experience of supporting people experiencing suicidal ideation. Should have previous experience of supervising or managing staff.

About this key role
Our successful candidate will assess referred clients, with reference to St Giles Trust assessment practices, and produce support and risk management plans based on these assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process.  You will be expected to deliver a holistic support service, working independently or with colleagues as the situation dictates, providing practical help such as social and housing support, education, training and employment options, benefits work and debt advice. 

We will also rely on you to develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies, ensuring a steady flow of appropriate referrals onto the scheme, and with regional agencies, including police and social services.  Closing cases efficiently and positively, identifying a survival plan for the client that will identify agencies that can be used for on-going support and agencies that can be used if serious problems develop in the future, is also an essential aspect of this role.

• To have worked on an offender-led support project, had personal experience of the criminal justice system, served a prison sentence, or still be serving a prison sentence in a prison within reach of Bradford.

The role of a Step Down Worker is to provide ongoing support to IDVA clients where the risk has been reduced to a safer level or where a client is referred into the service as medium/standard risk.. The post holder will provide ongoing support which is bespoke according to need and will work in a trauma informed way providing holistic support to aid client's recovery from abuse. This post will be part of the male IDVA team and will work collaboratively with the IDVAs to manage case loads.

What you'll do:

Manage a caseload of clients who have been stepped down from high risk IDVA support
Provide ongoing support with a range of client needs including but not limited to attendance at court hearings, mental health, substance issues, and housing support.

Support clients to obtain orders where needed and any other civil remedies available to them.
Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities.

• Create debt packs to be sent to people, including creating template letters and ensuring documents are accurate and up to date and completion of income and expenditure forms

CISWO is a national charity whose mission is to improve the lives of individuals and communities facing disadvantage due to the impact of the coal mining industry.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Social Worker to be based in our office in Pontefract to lead the service delivery within the Yorkshire and North East region, managing a team of office based and home based Social Work Assistants providing advice and support to former miners and their dependents.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong social work background with experience of managing a team in a social care setting and supporting older people and / or people with disabilities.

As Senior Social Worker, you will:

• Lead and manage the team to provide a high quality, professional, outcomes focused service for our client group.
• Manage a small caseload of clients when necessary, including carrying out high quality assessments and providing a range of appropriate interventions based on the needs of the clients.
• Act as the safeguarding lead for the region, supporting team members to take appropriate action as required.
• Drive service performance and improvement and ensure the effective management of casework across the team.
• Manage the delivery of a range of interventions including welfare benefits advice, mobility support, social isolation, and financial issues.
• Promote the service locally and develop partnerships with other agencies to ensure an integrated and multidisciplinary approach.

The essential qualities, skills and experience you will need to apply for this role:

• A degree in social work or equivalent social work qualification and current professional registration
• Experience of community based social care services with experience of delivery with older people and / or disability services
• Experience of leading / managing a team with the ability to manage & effectively prioritise caseloads
• Knowledge and understanding of the values and principles underpinning working with vulnerable adults and their carers within the community setting,
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice, particularly in relation to older people, mental health and disability
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with good judgement and logical decision making ability
• A valid driving licence and access to own vehicle

Senior Outreach Worker

28 hours per week

£29,614.28 (including London weighting), Westminster

Fixed term to end March 2026.

We are looking for a Senior Outreach Worker post in North West locality of Westminster to oversee direct case work with families, to support particularly those families identified as being in the greatest need.

You will deliver family support through home visits and one to one meetings. The successful candidate will be responsible for increasing reach and engagement to support participation in activities through the school holidays. You will be responsible for line managing a small team of Outreach Workers, including recruitment, supervisions / appraisals and day to day support of the team.

You will have experience of community and outreach work with diverse communities and of using a wide range of techniques to engage with isolated individuals and communities. You will have experience of line management of staff and/or volunteers. We are also looking for someone with good communication skills, both oral and written. You will have good networking skills and the ability to produce materials in a large range of formats for both families and professionals. Being able to speak/write Arabic is desirable.

The actual salary for 28 hours per week is £23,691.42 per annum.

The role involves designing, leading, and facilitating various activities and sessions aimed at improving wellbeing, community connections and building resilience. • Co-designing activities with young people
• Developing and facilitating a weekly boys’ group and a young peoples’ group
• Promoting and publicising activities in the local community
• Working with external facilitators and volunteers to provide engaging and varied sessions
