Refuge’s work has never been more important. When the first safe house for women and children opened in Chiswick in 1971, domestic abuse was largely seen as being black eyes and broken bones, something which happened behind closed doors. Now, it is recognised that domestic abuse can take many forms and can be more complex and difficult to spot. It can include abuse via technology, economic abuse, coercive control, emotional abuse and sexual abuse.

Over the past two years, we have had some significant successes at Refuge. At our core, we are the largest single provider of specialist domestic abuse services for women and their children across the country. We run the National Domestic Abuse Helpline, the gateway to frontline services. Every two minutes, someone turns to Refuge for help. As well as our frontline services, we also advocate and campaign for policy and legislative change.

We are seeking a new CEO to advance the organisation's mission and impact. We are looking for a CEO for Refuge that is a visionary and strategic leader, who is passionate about ending domestic abuse and empowering survivors. Refuge is already a leading force in the sector, but we know we can do more to create positive change and make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by domestic violence.

The new CEO will lead the development and delivery of the strategic plan for the organisation at a pivotal time in our history. Continuing to raise our external profile, they will develop and leverage strategic partnerships that further our mission as a feminist force for good. They will drive the organisation to long-term financial sustainability and relentlessly nurture a culture that is kind, inclusive, compassionate, open, empowering, bold and never shies away from the challenges ahead.

You will have experience in a similar leadership role, preferably within the not-for-profit sector, overseeing complex organisations. Experience in both leading and delivering substantial change is crucial. You will have a strong grasp of business planning principles and risk management, including service delivery risk. A proven track record of setting and achieving strategic and operational targets is essential.

What will your role look like?

You will provide strategic leadership and direction to enable the CAYSH group to achieve its mission – to provide a safe home and better futures for young single homeless people and vulnerable adults.

Working in collaboration with the Board of Trustees/Directors and the leadership team, you will ensure the effective operational performance and success. The role is pivotal in continued growth and sustainability of the organisation and to improve the lives of our service users.

Main Responsibilities

· Drive the values of the CAYSH Group, raise its profile and develop a motivated and high performing workforce which is responsive to the needs of service users

· Be responsible for compliance with the organisation’s legal and regulatory duties

· In collaboration with the board, develop and implement strategic and business plans

· Oversee the CAYSH Group’s budgeting process and monitor financial performance

· Proactively grow income by developing business opportunities and securing donations

· Oversee the tender process with the Executive team, directing the acquisition of new business with governmental and charitable organisations and local authorities

· Support the leadership team to achieve their objectives in the areas of business development, operations, financial management, business support and compliance and HR, ensuring that outcomes for service users are at the heart of all we achieve

· Be a champion for equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring that these principles are integrated into all aspects of the CAYSH Group and that its HR and employment processes match the values and ethos of the organisation

· Lead in creating an engaging and positive culture that inspires and motivates our passionate and hard-working team

· Undertake the role of safeguarding lead for the CAYSH Group and have sound knowledge of health and safety processes

· We raise vital awareness and campaign for better medical services for people with myasthenia and work to inform medical professionals.

· Myaware funds research that brings us closer to finding a cure as well as funding specialists nurses and advisors. 

About the role

The Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic guidance and oversight, ensure operational efficiency and sustainability, and maintain the organisation's commitment to serving the myasthenia community.

Your responsibilities in the role will include:

· Advising and working with the Chair and Trustees on the strategic direction of the charity and implementing board decisions,

· Leading by example and embodying Myaware values of respect, passion, collaboration, integrity and sustainability,

· Networking across the sector and raising the profile of the charity and people living with myasthenia across the nations where Myaware operates,

· Delivering effective management and administration of the organisation,

Southwark Law Centre (SLC) is recruiting a new Executive Director.

The Executive Director will work with the Trustee Board to develop and implement the strategic vision for the Law Centre and oversee its day to day operational management.

SLC offers a specialised referral service for advocacy and advice in complex and difficult cases.  In our last financial year, we helped more than 1300 people across the areas of employment & discrimination, housing & homelessness, immigration & asylum, and welfare rights as well as giving local people a voice in planning issues.  We are proud to be at the forefront of current issues, for instance in our work as part of the Windrush Justice Clinic.

The work of building on our financial sustainability is central to the role of Executive Director.  So too are strong people management skills to support our staff and volunteers.  And critically, we are looking for someone who shares our passion for this vital work, has experience in strategic planning and partnership development, and demonstrates an understanding and commitment to helping those in need.

Job title: Executive Director

Salary: £57,177 - £62,457 p.a.

Location: Our main office is currently based in Peckham and we have a second office, Lewisham Law Centre, which is co-located with Citizens Advice Lewisham in the Leemore Hub.

Key responsibilities 

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director is responsible for shaping and driving the work of the organisation, in line with its mission, vision, and strategic plan. 

The Executive Director has responsibility for the effective management and financial sustainability of the organisation; for leading the team and developing HRI’s strategic vision and operational plans; for representing the organisation to external stakeholders and the media; and for championing an inclusive and collaborative culture that foregrounds racial justice and diversity. The Executive Director must also fulfil all the legal, ethical, fiduciary and financial obligations of the role. 

The Executive Director’s key responsibilities are:

Organisational leadership and governance 

• Shape, drive and champion the organisation's vision, strategy and big picture thinking 

• Maintain HRI’s role and reputation as a leading international influencer and convenor in the field of harm reduction and human rights

• Provide strong, clear and proactive leadership on racial justice and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

• Champion an inclusive, collaborative, high performance culture that attracts, retains and motivates a diverse, expert staff team

• Build and maintain relationships with key external partners and stakeholders, including NGOs, networks of people who use drugs, donors, UN agencies, national governments, and opinion formers.

• Represent and promote HRI at its own and other conferences and networking events, United Nations fora, donor meetings, key civil society initiatives, and in the media.

• Facilitate the Board of Trustees’ active engagement in scrutiny, strategic planning, and resourcing and financial management

• Keep the Board fully informed of the overall health and performance of the organisation, and all relevant factors influencing this

• Ensure the smooth operation of Board meetings and maintain a strong, balanced Board, with effective succession planning

Financial Management and Fundraising

• Develop a realistic annual budget and operational plan for approval by the Board and prepare budget revisions as needed 

• Ensure provision of regular financial management, monitoring and reporting to the Board

• Provide financial risk assessment reports and mitigation strategies to the Board in a timely fashion 

• Ensure the financial sustainability of HRI and its capacity to achieve its strategic objectives

• Devise and implement fundraising strategies and plans to ensure that the organisation can meet its operational budgetary needs 

• Identify and engage with fundraising prospects and sources, and cultivate relationships with current and prospective funders

Operational and Management

• Oversee all aspects of programme planning development and evaluation

• Ensure that all programme components are strategically coordinated and contribute to overall organisational objectives

• Oversee further development of a communications strategy that positions HRI effectively, protects its reputation, and identifies opportunities to promote its key messages and activities

• Recruit and manage staff, and ensure appropriate organisational structures with clear roles and responsibilities 

• Ensure regular performance evaluations, feedback loops, and training and professional development and education for all staff

• Manage administrative matters relating to staff, including legal and health and safety requirements, and required policies and processes 

• Oversee risk management and legal activities: letters of agreement, contracts, leases and other legal documents and agreements

• Implement appropriate policies, including internal controls and accounting standards and procedures

The position of Chief Operating Officer is an exciting new role within the charity. The last few years have seen Coram’s Fields grow both operationally and financially, and we now employ around 65 staff and in 2024/25 are expecting to turnover c.£2.4 million.

As our organisation and team has grown, so too has the need to strengthen our infrastructure and we are now looking for an experienced and skilled COO, to drive operational improvements across the key areas of HR, Finance and commercial.

To be successful, you'll need to be an outstanding communicator, capable of building relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, from service managers on the ground, to our Trustees.

The post will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, provide support for Trust Board (and associated subcommittees), and will work across the entire Trust to develop and deliver the highest standards of governance and compliance. It will also support and contribute to the work of the Executive Leadership Team of the Trust, which is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the organisation

Key responsibilities for the role include:

• Ensuring good governance through policy development, coordination and support of the Board of Trustees , local governing bodies and other subcommittees, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Committee and meeting support, including servicing Trust Board and a range of other subcommittees.
• Oversight of the recruitment and induction of trustees and governors.
• Support to the CEO and other senior leaders with complaints, investigations and other formal hearings. 
• Support the CEO in their role as Data Protection Officer for the trust, taking administrative responsibility for key duties as required.

The successful candidate will:

• Have worked in the not-for-profit or education sector and have an understanding of the critical role that good governance can play in making an organisation impactful and effective.
• Have an analytical approach to policy.
• Have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
