Successful candidates for the post of National Press Officer will be able to demonstrate:

The main duties of the National Press Officer role include:

• Being first point of contact representing PCS in the media, through press releases, stories and quotes
• Planning and implementing campaigns and media strategies
• Supporting and developing PCS representatives to gain positive media coverage

The ability to organise your own work, identify and set priorities and work to tight deadlines are all essential requirements for a successful National Press Officer. As well as excellent communication skills, the National Press Officer will have an interest in and understanding of trade unions and the issues facing PCS's members.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. Representing PCS in the media

• Be first point of contact and respond promptly to enquiries from the press and media on PCS issues and stories, including the provision of out of hours cover
• Establish and develop good working contacts with the press and media
• Generate media and press interest in PCS and campaigns
• Draft press releases, quotes and articles/blogs
• Ensure all media opportunities, including television, radio, digital and social media are exploited effectively

The Policy and Campaigns Officer will develop policy positions and campaigns that will help ensure that the needs, rights and priorities of those living with DMD are understood and acted on by decision makers, policy makers, parliament and government. The Officer will work closely with colleagues in the Policy and Communications team to support a cohesive and impactful approach to policy, engagement and communications.

Job Description

• To ensure that the charity’s policy and campaigning work is firmly grounded in the views and experiences of the DMD community and to ensure that they are consulted and involved in the development (and delivery where appropriate) of Duchenne UK’s policy positions and campaigns.
• To maximise the benefits of our existing relationships with civil servants, parliamentarians, policy makers, relevant organisations (such as NICE) and charity sector professionals and to create new relationships which help us to achieve our aims.
• To organise events and parliamentary activity working with parliamentary supporters and the DMD community.
• To devise low-budget campaigns aimed at creating positive change in policy, practice or attitudes that will improve the lives and outcomes of those living with DMD.

We are seeking a flexible, reliable, and enthusiastic Support Worker to deliver and develop services for Young Carers aged 5–16. The role involves three key parts. We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Project Officer to support the delivery and evaluation of our mental health services in schools, as well as our nursery and family centre. You’ll be part of a passionate team working to improve children’s life chances through early intervention and family support.

Duties and Responsibilities

Service Analysis and Quality Assurance

• Support the collection and analysis of accurate, timely and high-quality data on our services via Salesforce CRM (training provided, with the opportunity to become a qualified Salesforce Administrator).
• Assist Service Managers in delivering mental health training for school staff and parents/carers, including managing bookings, invites, attendance lists, and queries.
• Coordinate, monitor and support the evaluation of whole school services, including training and wellbeing interventions.
• Maintain effective and up-to-date digital filing systems.
• Build strong relationships with colleagues and external contacts, developing a deep understanding of our services and their impact on children’s lives.

Family Liaison and Support

• Undertake office and reception duties from 4pm – 6.30pm, including liaising with parents, answering calls, and welcoming visitors.
• Support the recruitment and onboarding of new families to our nursery and family centre, including reviewing statutory childcare funding options.
• Help develop a programme of workshops for parents/carers, assessing needs and tailoring support.

The successful candidate will bring proven experience in individual giving and charity fundraising, with a track record of delivering multichannel campaigns and securing income growth. Solid digital fundraising skills are essential, including experience with platforms such as Donorfy, Mailchimp, and JustGiving. This role is a part-time, permanent position (21hrs) with hybrid / flexible working in their Guildhall office, City of London.  The salary for this role is £24,000 to £27,000 which is a full time equivalent of £40,000 to £45,000.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Director-level communications professional with a strong background in knowledge translation of technical information to different audiences internationally. 

Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the Director of Communications & Knowledge Translation will provide strategic leadership for all Health Care Without Harm Europe’s Communications and KT activities. The Director will lead exciting new digital KT initiatives in line with our new Strategy and as a key part of a small, high-performing team working at the timely intersection of health and the environment. S/he will lead and support all of the organisation’s engagement and communication with target audiences, so that they achieve maximum impact on European healthcare policy and practice in support of the organisation’s mission. 

The post is for an initial 12-month period, at a critical time of development for the organisation’s communications and KT activities. We intend to make the post permanent thereafter, subject to receiving sufficient funding, and we have high hopes that this will be the case.

Fundraising Communications Writer

Position Objective:

To produce persuasive, high-volume fundraising copy – including proposals for recurring and prospective major donors – that inspires support for PETA and other PETA entities. This is a fast-paced, varied role for a sharp, adaptable writer who thrives under pressure. You’ll be juggling multiple projects, switching tones with ease, and delivering clean, compelling copy quickly and independently. Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Write compelling proposals for existing donors and new prospects, tailored to specific interests and relationships
• Draft and revise donor correspondence, including responses to member and prospect inquiries, form letters, acknowledgement letters, and scheduled/ad hoc impact reports
• Develop copy for direct mailings and email appeals, blog pages,  and other fundraising copy to support donor engagement and acquisition
• Liaise with colleagues to gather donor insights, align on strategy, and manage workflow
• Edit and review work from requestors, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with PETA’s voice
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

• Professional writing experience, ideally in fundraising, journalism, digital platforms, or advocacy
• Experience writing proposals, appeals, acknowledgments, and donor communication highly desirable
• Proven ability to write quickly, clearly, and persuasively for diverse audiences
• Experience using Asana, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office
• Strong command of English grammar
• Thorough knowledge of animal liberation issues and PETA entity campaigns

The Third Age Trust currently provides members with access to two systems to aid them in the running of their u3a.

Beacon is an online membership and activity management system for u3as. It provides a simple interface for managing members, groups and finances. Beacon currently provides over 650 individual u3as with over 300,000 members with a secure, efficient and effective means of managing their day-to-day business functions. 

SiteWorks offers a website presence solution for u3as, Networks and Regions. A volunteer-led team provide WordPress websites on a managed platform. SiteWorks provides over 700 u3as with a website presence.

A central aspect of this role will be working closely with volunteers; the service manager will play a key role in overseeing and supporting the ongoing operation of both these systems. Historically theses services have largely been managed by volunteer teams, whose commitment and expertise have been vital to the success of both systems. We, the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) and the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA), are two sister charities focused on the promotion of scientific, evidence-based approaches to animal welfare. We fund research, support the animal welfare science community, and advocate for evidence-based improvements to animal welfare worldwide. Communicating animal welfare science to both specialist audiences and the wider public is key to turning knowledge into real-world improvements in animal welfare. We are seeking a Scientific Communications and Content Assistant to join our talented Scientific Communications Team during an exciting period of growth and change for both charities.

The Scientific Communications and Content Assistant will support us to deliver our scientific communications strategy by helping to draft, design and publish engaging content for our print and digital platforms. This includes assisting with the creation of visual and written content that effectively convey complex scientific information to our diverse audiences.

The role will report to our Scientific Communications and Outreach Manager and work closely with the Public Affairs Lead and other internal teams to create engaging content for our audiences. We are seeking candidates with strong written, editing and visual skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and clarity.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of our small multi-disciplinary team and be confident to work unsupervised when necessary. What you’ll be doing
