About the role
As we embark on this exciting new phase, this role offers the opportunity to refine and implement our Communications Plan, which aims to enhance our visibility, influence and engagement with key audiences.
The Communication Officer will create lively, meaningful content for a range of communications tools and will work on our growing reach. They will build strong relationships with a range of people and organisations, including our grantee organisations.
They will also champion our key messaging, brand and style guidelines, ensuring we always speak consistently and purposefully.

The Role
What will I be doing?
Working for our Strategic Implementation Manager the focus will be on supporting our affiliated schools and the broader physics teaching community. These priorities could change as our work programme evolves. Initial key responsibilities of the role include:
- Providing project support and coordination for projects across the department working in tandem with the Strategic Implementation Manager.
- Contact and communications administration for our Professional Community of Teaching, including through Salesforce.
- Managing relationships with affiliated schools and supporting plans for growth.
Projects you work on may include:
- Coordinating events for teachers and other key groups. This will involve managing event bookings, liaising with event venues and event contributors, following budgets, liaising with colleagues for promotion and evaluating impact.
- Sending out regular newsletters to teachers. Working with the Managers this will require maintenance of mailing lists and the distribution of electronic newsletters.
- Collating data from our communities, including from surveys and forum discussions.
- Supporting the coordination of the IOP Teacher Awards scheme.
Who will I work with?
You will be line managed by the Strategic Implementation Manager and support the Manager Education Community in the delivery of their projects.

We are looking for a candidate with strong budget oversight and organisational skills to join our small team and be our lead for Camden's Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, a national programme funded by the Department for Education. With the support of YCF's Head of Partnerships & Grants and CEO, you will oversee and manage a significant budget, and all project management aspects of the programme, to ensure excellent, high-quality provision for Camden's Free School Meal eligible children and young people.
In August 2025, the programme was extended nationally by the DfE for an additional three years, and we await confirmation as to the exact allocation for Camden, which would hopefully enable us to extend this role to a three year contract to 2029.
About the HAF programme in Camden and this role
Young Camden Foundation has been Camden Council’s delivery partner for the national, Department for Education funded Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme since its inception in 2021. The programme distributes around £800,000 per year to support Free School Meal eligible children and young people in the borough across the main holidays of Spring, Summer and Winter.
You will lead all project management, from budget stewardship to overseeing programme delivery, with the support of the team. You will oversee a complex budget of around £800,000 ensuring its effective use throughout the year. You will ensure that each HAF programme in Camden offers young participants a diverse and enjoyable range of activities provided by respected organisations, operating at the highest levels of safety, quality, and in alignment with the Department for Education’s funding requirements. You will lead on all reporting, data processing, overseeing of invoicing, and communications of the programme.

Democracy Classroom is a non-partisan, UK-wide initiative and a leading voice for the sector, reaching teachers and youth practitioners in 95% of the UK’s parliamentary constituencies. It coordinates the collective voice of organisations committed to democratic education, including through its joint submission to the Department for Education’s Curriculum and Assessment Review and the publication of The Roadmap to Votes at 16, a collaborative vision for the implementation of Votes at 16.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Head of Communications and Networks will amplify The Politics Project’s voice, build strategic partnerships and strengthen collaboration across the youth, education and democracy sectors. You will lead on communications, stakeholder engagement and the continued development of the Democracy Classroom Network.
You will oversee a team responsible for communications, partnerships and events, providing leadership and guidance to ensure clear messaging, impactful storytelling and strong, coordinated engagement across the sector. The post holder will combine strategic thinking with strong operational delivery, managing both the external profile of the organisation and the networks that underpin its reach and influence.
Key responsibilities include:
Communications
- Develop and lead The Politics Project’s communications strategy to raise visibility and strengthen reputation.
- Ensure clear, consistent messaging across all channels, including website, social media, newsletters and press.
- Lead media relations, drafting press releases, handling journalist enquiries and identifying media opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate communications activity to measure reach, engagement and influence.
Partnerships and networks
- Work with the Partnerships Manager and Director to cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders across civil society, government, education and youth sectors.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the Democracy Classroom Network, including partner communications, newsletters and database management.
- Create opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing between organisations, policymakers and institutions.
- Oversee the Democracy Classroom Platform and ensure it continues to grow as a trusted resource hub for teachers and practitioners.
- Act as The Politics Project’s representative and ambassador at external meetings, conferences and events.
Leadership and management
- Lead and mentor the communications and networks team, including line management of the Partnerships Manager, Communications Lead and Programme Coordinator.
- Manage relationships with freelance designers, illustrators and developers.
- Oversee evaluation and monitoring of communications and network activities, producing reports as required.
- Manage budgets and allocate resources effectively for communications, campaigns and events.
- Contribute to the organisation’s strategic planning and cross-programme collaboration.
- Carry out other duties as required in support of the organisation.
This is a fast-paced senior management role in a small but growing organisation. The post includes a six-month probation period and is fixed-term until March 2027, with the potential of extension depending on funding. Occasional travel within the UK and some evening or weekend work will be required.

Role Purpose

We are now recruiting for a Programme Coordinator for our schools in the North West.
- The North West Programme Coordinator oversees a caseload of up to seven partner schools. They manage the logistics and organisation of each school’s tutoring programme, working closely with the schools and pupils and managing the pool of volunteer tutors. They attend the weekly tutoring sessions at each school, as well as overseeing the quality of face to face and online tutoring, always working to deliver a great impact.
- The North West Programme Coordinator supports the recruitment of volunteer tutors, manages the tutor sign up process, develops relationships with schools including their Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers, collects data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, and works with other internal teams on business development opportunities.

Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for the delivery of Action Tutoring’s tutoring programmes in partner schools, whether online or face to face. This includes working closely to manage all key stakeholders: schools, pupils and volunteer tutors; regularly attending weekly tutoring sessions; leading on reviewing and improving programme delivery, using data to reliably assess programme performance.
- Responsible for overseeing the quality of tutoring, engaging in quality assurance processes, and providing feedback to volunteer tutors to ensure effective and impactful delivery. Provide regular check-ins with tutors to ensure ample support and guidance is given to provide targeted tuition to pupils.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in partner schools, including members of the Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers. Maintain clear and timely communication with relevant school staff, offering regular check-ins with key school stakeholders, and contribute to impact reporting to schools. Supporting the Programme Manager with strategies to retain and sustain school partnerships.
- Update and accurately maintain Action Tutoring’s database, including collecting timely data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, such as attendance records, baseline and interim assessments and pupil surveys. Reporting regularly on key performance indicators to key stakeholders and using them to enhance programme delivery. Work with the Programme Manager on business development, approaching new schools that might be interested in working with Action Tutoring.
- Proactively report to the Programme Manager on the details of Action Tutoring’s operations in their partner schools.

We are the voice for skills in the Electronics industry and the semiconductor sector. Through engagement with Schools, Universities and Industry, it is our mission to encourage more young people to study Electronics and to pursue careers in the sector.
The UK has a long heritage of technological innovation and has a world-class Electronics sector with the potential to provide solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing society today. However, the demand for capable, employable Electronics Engineers and designers is currently outstripping supply.
The UKESF works tirelessly to ensure that more schoolchildren can learn about Electronics, in an engaging way, and be aware of the opportunities available. The Governors help us shape our overall strategy and support The Place to fulfil its artistic and educational objectives within a sustainable business model. As The Place is a company limited by guarantee (company no. 883094) and a registered charity (charity no. 250216), Governors are both charity trustees and company directors.
There are two key departments; Education (comprising Research and London Contemporary Dance School and the Centre for Advanced Training), and Public Programmes (comprising Theatre and Artist Development, Producing and Touring, Creative Learning and Classes and Courses). These departments are supported by Central Services Teams including Communications, Development, Finance and Human Resources.
Key stakeholders and partners include Arts Council England, Office for Students, the Department for Education, Research England alongside the Charity Commission. We also have a partnership with the University of the Arts London (UAL) in support of degree validation and PhD supervision.
SALARY
The salary for this position is £40,000-£45,000 (depending on experience).
Salaries are reviewed in August each year when any cost-of-living increases are made. No salary changes are made until after successful completion of a probationary period.
CONTRACT TERMS
This is an open-ended, permanent contract. This is a full-time position (equivalent to 40 hours per week). These hours are inclusive of a one-hour paid lunch break each day. Your hours of work will be agreed with the line manager. A minimum of 50% of hours must be office-based, with the opportunity for some remote working in agreement with the line manager.
Whilst in the six-month probationary period the notice period will be two weeks. Once this period is successfully completed the post holder will be confirmed in the post and the notice period will be twelve weeks.
