An organisation rich in history, the charity has been at the forefront of supporting older people’s lives for more than 300 years. They have more than 250 older peoples in alms house accommodation in Blackheath and Beckenham and have a small 28-bed care home on their Blackheath site. Morden College are committed to providing services that support their residents to live independent and healthy lives.

The organisation is embarking on a finance process review, in order to improve their ways of working. With plans in place to upgrade their finance and CRM systems the role would suit a change-focussed individual.

Reporting into the Finance Director, the role is a key member of the team with responsibility of three staff, and the involvement in the strategic vision of the finance team. With their main base in Blackheath, the role is hybrid and strives to offer as much flexibility as possible, including a wide-ranging benefits package.

Main responsibilities of the role:

• Ensure the completion of all month end processes and the timely delivery of the monthly management accounts.
• Liaise with key stakeholders to provide a responsive and compliant finance management operation.
• Support the improvement of processes and systems, ensuring robust policies are in place so the organisation can be fully digitised.
• Lead and manage a team of four, quality assuring their work, and guiding their careers and ensuring their continued development and nurturing great team culture.
• Support the Finance Director with the production of the annual financial statements, project managing the team to facilitate a smooth audit delivery across the main organisation as well as subsidiary accounts.

The successful candidate will:

• Be a fully qualified accountant, likely with experience from within the not-for-profit sector.
• Have experience driving change and improving processes and broader cultural change in a finance team.
• Be able to flex up and down from a hands-on perspective to also offer strategic insight to the Finance Director.
• Have significant experience working in a finance function with the knowledge of ‘what good looks like’.

Job Title:  Finance Officer

Reporting to: HQ Finance Manager
Hours: 37.5 per week
Principal Location:London, hybrid with a minimum of 3 and an expectation of 4 days in the office per week.

Part 1:  Role Purpose:

This role is a key member of the busy HQ finance function. Although the role is primarily focused on the HQ finances, the role operates within the context of Street Child as a global charity and so also has interaction with the global finance team. The role offers the chance to work across a number of finance functions, and some of the subsidiary charities. It is essential that the applicant can juggle the complexities of a busy role with has varied work priorities. Key stakeholders are the HQ Finance Manager, Finance Director and the HQ based fundraising team. The role works alongside the Finance Assistant and plays a role in oversight and coaching of this role.

Part 2:  Key Responsibilities:

1) (40%) Deliver all functions related to Accounts Receivable

• Ensure that all income from a variety of different sources is correctly and accurately recorded in the finance system and CRM (which is under development) on a weekly basis.
• Supporting with work on accounts receivable including accessing, downloading and saving in a systematic manner reports from donor portals, bank account and other sources.
• Working with colleagues in Fundraising to analyse and code income reports in Excel and uploading it to the Finance system on a timely basis, at least weekly.  Following up on how to code any income which is not allocated to a source.
• Working closely with colleagues in Fundraising to ensure prompt collection of outstanding balances from customers, and sending out monthly debtor balance statements. 
• Raising donor invoices and requests for payments, and issuing donor receipts.
• Income and customer account reconciliations and revaluations.
• Any other responsibilities relating to Accounts Receivable.

2) (20%) Lead the Accounts Payable process

• Whilst the Finance Assistant is responsible for all payments, the Finance Officer has a lead role in ensuring that all invoices are paid on time, in an efficient manner and that the finance system reflects the transactions within the correct accounting period and correctly coded in the system – including account code, cost centre, project code and donor code.
• Determine most efficient payment platform to process international payments, and ensure that recorded in the finance system at the correct conversion rate.
• Be a point of contact with the Foreign exchange agents to quickly resolve any questions.
• Work with the Finance Assistant to ensure accurate and timely recording of all approved supplier invoices, requisitions, staff expenses and other expenditure in the accounting system and that all supporting documentation for all transactions are uploaded.
• Managing at least two payment runs a week and additional runs as required; ensuring that all invoices for payment are correctly approved by the budget holder, setting up payments on online banking platforms and sending out requests for payment approvals to payment authorisers and verifying that all payments are fully approved in the banking platforms by the deadline set.
• Once the payment is made, allocating the payment against the invoices in the Finance system.
• Reviewing staff expense claims to ensure that all supporting documentation is provided before payment.
• Managing monthly staff credit card reconciliations and ensure that these are returned on time with all receipts and invoices and checking and reviewing classifications, with follow up as required.
• Carry out monthly Creditor account reconciliations ensuring that all balances are valid and backed up with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Fully deliver the set up all payroll payments in time for the monthly pay day.  This involves ensuring correct amount and currency of payment (which may differ from the salary of the individual’s employment contract) and method of payment across all HQ staff.
• Any other responsibilities relating to Accounts Payable.

3) (40%) Month end reporting and reconciliation and subsidiary accounts

• Complete all balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and petty cash reconciliations and submit for approval by HQ Finance Manager.
• Once CRM system is in place, undertake reconciliation processes between finance data and CRM data.
• Carry out monthly revaluations of bank accounts.
• Ensuring supporting information for transactions is correctly stored in electronic format on Teams such as bank statements, remittance advices, credit statements.
• Assist in preparation of internal reports, including working with Operations Department and Finance department to review their monthly reports.
• Take responsibility to deliver the management accounts of two subsidiary companies: Children in Crisis and HQ transactions of Africa Educational Trust.
• Compile information for Gift Aid returns.
• General support and assistance to the team including administrative duties and managing the office post.
• Other ad hoc support to the wider operations team as may be required.
• Audit: support with the year end audit and provision of supporting information to auditors.

Main areas of responsibility

Business partnering:

• Provide a high-quality financial support to the nominated internal stakeholders. These may vary and will include some of the following: Food, Supply Chain & Logistics teams, Network Partner support, Operational centres (warehouses) and Support functions.
• Deliver monthly management accounts and KPI reporting for the nominated stakeholders. Monitor spend and provide financial insight and expertise to drive the delivery in line with FareShare’s strategic direction.
• Collaborate with the nominated internal stakeholders to develop and manage budgets and forecasts.
• Enhance financial reporting and analysis and develop KPI capabilities for the nominated stakeholders.
• Coach budget holders on finance systems and processes to develop effective budget management and controls.
• Provide cover for other Finance Business Partners when required, mainly around month end processes and management account reporting.

Financial accounting:

• Involvement in month end processes: produce month end journals, conduct balance sheet reconciliations for the nominated business centres.
• Support with the development and monitoring compliance of the financial policies and processes and controls.
• Oversee financial aspects of grants, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting to funders.

People and / or project management:

• Provide financial guidance and support to the finance transactional team.
• Line manage (or dotted line management responsibilities, dependant on experience) the finance offices in the operational centres (warehouses).

About this exciting opportunity
The focus of this key role will be to manage the data team to support colleagues across one or more contracts awarded by the HMPPS to deliver Finance Benefit and Debt (FBD) in Wales. We will expect you to monitor and manage the receipt of referrals from Probation through the Customer Approved System (CAS) and the CAS itself to ensure all inputting is accurate and within agreed timescales, providing regular activity reports to the FBD Contract Manager.

We will also rely on you to be the primary point of contact for all enquiries, both external and internal, to ensure communication channels are clear and effective, while also liaising closely with external stakeholders, delivery partners, spot purchase providers and other agencies to arrange appointments, referrals, and generally ensure information exchanged is done in a clear, timely and effective manner.  Developing and maintaining processes for recording and monitoring resource allocation and positively representing the St Giles Wise partnership in all external meetings, including conferences, seminars, and other events are also vital elements of this role.

E3G PROGRAMME FINANCE LEAD, OPERATIONS, LONDON

E3G funding comes from a wide variety of funders around the world. We are looking for a CCAB qualified finance person with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a charity or not-for-profit programme finance context. The role will work with the Chief Financial Officer and Programme Leads to manage our financial relationships with these funders and the end-to-end finance activities across our funders and programmes.

Responsible for ensuring financial controls, processes and systems are updated and effectively implemented, the Finance Manager will create accurate, regular reporting ensuring adequate financial forecasting, as well as ensuring that the organisation remains financially compliant, and they will be instrumental within the organisation in supporting scale and growth at Hope Street.

This is an exciting time for the charity and an excellent opportunity for a skilled Finance Manager who:

· Holds an acounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA) part or fully qualified or qualified by experience.

· Has strong budgeting/forecasting and at least two years financial & systems management experience, with experience of producing management accounts, budget planning and financial monitoring processes.

· Has experience of working in or with the not-for-profit sector and housing sector.

· Can demonstrate exceptional budgeting skills with experience of managing complex funding sources.

· Has highly developed interpersonal & team-working skills with a positive, flexible & can-do attitude, strong leadership & communication skills, with the ability to develop policies/procedures and convey complex financial control concepts to non-finance colleagues in both verbal and written format.

· Is resourceful, practical with an approach to problem-solving, with the ability to plan, prioritise and maintain efficiency during periods of pressure and high volume of work

You will have advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Sage Payroll software and of the benefits system, tax credits and universal credits.

Previous experience of the following would be an advantage, but is not essential as training can be provided:

The role:

The purpose of this role is to ensure effective, efficient and accurate day-to-day financial management and financial controls for the Fidelity UK and international Foundations, including leading on management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning and delivering the annual reports and accounts for all four Foundations. The post holder will prepare all finance papers for Board and Finance and Investment Subcommittee meetings and will support the oversight of the Foundations’ investment portfolios. This role will also be responsible for managing all payments made by the Foundations, in addition to ensuring risk and compliance guidelines are adhered to at all times.

About the role

Reporting to the CFO, the Head of Finance is responsible for leading a team of 5 and overseeing the day-to-day financial management of the charity, supporting and developing its financial strategies. In collaboration with the Charity’s Executive Team, the role is responsible for safeguarding the short, medium and long-term financial health of the organisation. This includes all financial reporting requirements, treasury management (overseeing the organisation's cash and liquidity performance) and the management of the annual budget and financial planning processes. The Head of Finance is also responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining a Management Information (MI) reporting suite which supports the Charity’s operations, commercial development activities and long-term strategies. Lastly, the Head of Finance is tasked with managing the development of the Finance department.

Areas of responsibility will include:

Financial Strategy and Policy

• Support the Charity’s Executive Team with ensuring the short, medium and long term financial health of the organisation
• Collaborate with the Charity’s SMT to prepare business cases and financial models to support new business activities and investment proposals
• Review and update the charities financial policies
• Cultivate a support structure across the organisation where the finance department acts as a trusted business partner for operations and management

Reporting

• Oversee all financial reporting processes for the Charity, ensuring that accurate, timely and relevant information is disseminated across the organisation
• Work with the SMT to identify areas to improve the reporting processes

Statutory Reporting, Audit & Risk

• Manage the Charity’s financial statutory compliance for both audit and regulatory matters and oversee the finance risk register
• Lead the year-end audit process, including the preparation of audit schedules, reconciliations and acting as a key point of contact for the auditors
• Prepare the financial disclosures sections of the Charity ‘s annual reports and the accompanying narrative to explain the financial performance of the year
• Support the Charity’s regulatory compliance responsibilities, particularly with the financial elements of ESFA funding guidelines. Prepare financial returns, financial health assessments and other submissions to ensure that ESFA requirements are fulfilled.

Cash Flow Management

• Monitory the Charity’s cash flow, manage the working capital controls and produce cashflow reports and forecasts
• Oversee the Charity’s cash flow management processes and report on cash flow performance against budget and forecast targets.
• Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts which provide a consistently reliable understanding of the organisation’s cash flow position over the financial year.

Finance Department Development

• Design and implement learning and development frameworks for each member of the Finance department.
• Ensure that each member of the Finance department is sufficiently supported to fulfil their performance development goals.

About you

• Qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent)
• Experience of audit and preparation of annual financial accounts under UK GAAP and understanding of Charity SORP
• Experience of leading and developing Finance teams
• Experience working within the Charity or Education sectors (experience working with ESFA funding is preferable)
• Experienced managing budget processes
• Experience of business partnering

We’re looking for a qualified accountant to join our team and provide operational leadership for the Charity’s Finance function, supporting the Director of Finance & Governance and providing line management for our friendly finance team.

You will be responsible for ensuring The Charity complies with statutory requirements, operates effective controls, provides meaningful insight on financial matters and adapts processes to suit our growing Charity.

You will take a lead on statutory compliance such as audit, tax and Charity Commission submissions. You will work with the Finance Manager to ensure the integrity of finance records and systems, the accurate and timely production of monthly management accounts, making of payments to Team Members and suppliers and ad hoc reporting.

You will take a leading role in budget preparations and forecasting.

Who we’re looking for:

A qualified accountant with at least five years’ experience in a similar role from any sector. You will have experience of and be comfortable with filing VAT returns, preparing statutory accounts, dealing with auditors, and managing a small team.

· Accurate recording, reporting and use of restricted funds

· Review and commentary on finances and significant variances for Finance Committees

· Cash flow planning and management

· Banking compliance e.g. updating mandates

The Senior Finance Officer will sit at the heart of our Operations Team, reporting to the Head of Operations and the Co-CEOs and playing a crucial function in ensuring the efficient day-to-day management of the organisation’s financial functions.

This will include all day-to-day management of our financial systems and banking, including our accountancy software (Quickbooks) and our internal financial spreadsheets. This involves recording and tracking the income expected from funders, processing invoices and payments, preparing payroll and producing monthly reconciliations and termly budgets. You will also work with our teams to ensure compliance with our financial policies, process expenses and work with our external accountants each year to provide the information needed for our accounts.

You will also research, advise and steer on both necessary changes to our processes, policies and procedures and standalone project work which may involve tasks such as reviewing our pensions processes or any savings and investments. You will understand and enjoy the challenge that working at a charity with multiple complex funding streams brings.

You will have experience of similar work, ideally in the charity sector and will be familiar with the use of both accountancy software and managing cashflows and budgets using Excel.
