The Furniture Makers’ Company is the City of London livery company and charity for the furnishing industry.  With more than 300 individual members and around 45 corporate members, The Furniture Makers’ Company is the only membership association in the UK furniture and furnishing industry that brings together people and companies from all sectors of the wider trade, including beds, fabrics, kitchens, carpets and floor coverings, for networking, fellowship and supporting our livery and charitable activities.

Our role is to sustain a thriving British furnishing industry with a talented workforce delivering high quality products, which supports those in need from within its ranks and those who have served it in the past. We achieve this through three pillars of activity – education, excellence and welfare.

As our Corporate Membership and Events Manager., you will have responsibility in overseeing our programme of excellence activity as well as supporting the successful growth of corporate membership.

With the support and direction of committees of volunteers, you will be responsible for managing each of these very different award schemes - strong marketing, events management and administration skills are essential.

Corporate membership

Our corporate members and corporate supporters represent some of the most significant companies from across all sectors within the UK furnishing industry. It is through their generosity that we can ensure we have a robust and thriving industry, where we always look after our own, where developing young talent and embedding skills are paramount and excellence is the norm. You will be joining us as a very exciting time as we look to increase our corporate members by 50%. You will be working closely with the corporate membership committee and CEO to facilitate the recruitment of new members and manage the relationship with existing members.

Key Responsibilities:

Corporate Membership

• To manage relationships with existing corporate members and enable smooth running of the process.
• Keep a track on leads, chase leads and organise meetings
• Budget management – invoicing and tracking all incoming and outgoing payments
• Organise overall programme of events and activities

MGM

• To manage relationships with existing holders and recruit new holders
• To manage invoice cycles for all existing holders
• To manage re-inspections/re-issue of certificates
• Budget management – invoicing and tracking all incoming and outgoing payments.
• Organise key events
• Overall Project management.

DGM

• To manage the awards cycle – call to entries, judging days, award ceremony
• To maintain and build the database
• Budget management – invoicing and tracking all outgoing payments and income.
• Be the subject matter expert for the DGM
• Overall project management 

BGM

• Conduct all the administration for the ongoing BGM entry and judging process.
• To manage relationships with existing holders and recruit new holders
• To ensure all application and re-inspection fees are paid
• To manage re-inspections/re-issue of certificates
• Budget management – invoicing and tracking all incoming and outgoing payments
• Overall project management.

Personal Attributes and Skills

• Must have three years’ experience of Marketing and Events 
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects at once.
• Understanding of how to communicate to different audiences. 
• Must be able to work in a small team, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are essential.

More about the role

As our Assistant Shop Manager in Weymouth, you'll work closely with the Shop Manager, overseeing day-to-day shop operations, including generating donations, managing displays and merchandising, coordinating stock deliveries and collections, maintaining records, and handling cash.

Additionally, you'll play a key role in recruiting, training, motivating, and managing a dedicated team of volunteers, ensuring they are aligned with our cause and equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in their roles. Together with the Shop Manager, you'll shape the shop's direction at a local level, fostering a welcoming and engaging environment for both customers and volunteers alike.

Our Weymouth shop will be open Monday to Saturday, 09:00 to 17:00.  Your shift pattern may vary week by week to accommodate business needs and the availability of staff and volunteers, including weekend work and occasional lone shifts. Flexibility is key, as there may be time when you're required to cover for the Shop Manager, necessitating additional hours.

About you

You'll have previous experience in a retail environment and familiarity with cash handling and reconciliation. Excellent customer service skills are a must, along with the ability to provide a positive and welcoming experience for customers.

In this role, being a great team leader is important. You'll be able to motivate and guide a team of volunteers to ensure the seamless operation of the shop.

Flexibility is essential as the working schedule may change weekly to accommodate business demands and staff availability, often involving weekend shifts. Comfort with occasional lone working and willingness to work extra hours when necessary are crucial, showcasing adaptability and a proactive approach to shop management.

Our location

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. But one thing we have learned from the pandemic, is that we are able to work very effectively from home. In this role, there is plenty of scope for doing that, you will need to be able to attend the Hatfield office once a week and the charity meets four times a year in the office at our mandatory 'All Staff Together' days.

Established in 1936 and one of Scotland’s leading wildlife bodies, the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club is a registered Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) with some 3500 members.  Its purpose is to advance the study and appreciation of birds in Scotland by promoting their documentation, promoting interest in them, promoting their conservation, providing a focus for information about them and encouraging the appreciation of relevant creative arts.

The Club’s headquarters, which also feature a renowned ornithology library, wildlife art gallery and sales outlet, are in Aberlady, East Lothian.  Fifteen nationwide Branches are led by members who organise events, outings and projects in their areas.  Staff contribute a national series of events, conferences and training activities for members of all ages.  Publications include the highly regarded quarterly journal Scottish Birds, mobile app (Where to Watch Birds in Scotland), regional bird reports, e-newsletters and other online media.

The Club Manager will lead and oversee all aspects of running the Club, including its small team of staff, volunteers, an annual turnover of about £350,000 and assets which include built property (HQ).  They will champion and drive forward the Club’s vision and goals. There will be emphasis on strong leadership to manage and support staff, volunteers and trustees; ensuring the highest standard of services to members; planning and reporting on the annual programme of Club-wide events and developing future priorities.

KEY OBJECTIVES:

• To provide strong leadership and management in relation to staff and the provision of all aspects of the Club's delivery of services and support to its members, in line with its status and responsibilities as a SCIO.
• To liaise and work closely with the SOC’s Council and committees in their work, regularly reporting to and advising Council and Management Committee.
• To support and drive forward the continuous improvement of the Club.
• To oversee the effective running and maintenance of the Club’s headquarters in Aberlady.

MAIN WORK AREAS

• Lead, direct and manage our staff team (nine employees), and provide guidance and direction for volunteers and contract workers as appropriate. Includes staff work plans and annual appraisals, oversight of all HR functions and support of staff in line with good professional practice.
• Ensure the legal requirements of the SCIO are met, including preparation and submission of an Annual Report and Statement of Accounts to the Scottish charity regulator (OSCR)
• Oversee the planning and organisation of the Club’s autumn annual conference and AGM, and the joint SOC/BTO spring conference.
• Work with SOC Secretary to support the Club’s volunteer-led Council and committees, including timely production of papers, reports and minutes, as required.
• Review and update as necessary staff support for Club Branches.
• Together with relevant committees, develop and monitor forward planning for the Club.
• Ensure implementation of all H&S, safeguarding and risk management responsibilities, in line with external and internal policy and Risk Register needs.  Ensure regular review of policies, advising Management Committee and ensuring awareness of them wherever necessary among Council and Committee members, staff, contractors and volunteer leaders.
• Work with the Office Manager to ensure compliance with all necessary measures for the maintenance and management of Waterston House and its users. 
• Ensure appropriate insurance cover for all relevant Club needs, including property, people, events and activities.
• Oversee the staff role in contributing to preparation and monitoring of our annual budget, reporting regularly to relevant committees.
• Oversee and support as appropriate all Club publications and media activities, including its website, Scottish Birds, newsletters and other communications.
• Ensure that statutory Data Protection requirements and obligations are met.
• Ensure that the Club’s IT infrastructure is adequate, robust and up to date. 
• Explore additional avenues for Club funding, make recommendations to the Club office bearers and Council.
• Contribute to the Club’s approach to national Equality, Diversity & Inclusion policies and Net Zero targets.

 PERSON SPECIFICATION   

The successful candidate may be expected to demonstrate:

• An understanding of the needs and responsibilities of charities and volunteer-led membership bodies.

Head of Income Generation & Communications

As a local mental health charity Buckinghamshire Mind has been working for  110 years to stand up for better mental health in Buckinghamshire and East Berkshire. We are an independent charity, proud to be affiliated with national Mind and play our part in the Mind federation.
 

Our vision is to ensure everyone experiencing a mental health issue gets the support and respect they deserve.

With 70 colleagues and over  500 volunteers of all ages, we provide wide-ranging mental health services in the heart of local communities to over 11,000 people per year. The newly created post of Head of Income Generation & Communications will be an integral part of the Senior Management Team, managing the development and strategic direction of our charity as agreed with the Board of Trustees.

You will create an income generation strategy and be responsible for its implementation, using your creativity and resourcefulness to maximise development opportunities. Our current sources of funding are grants, foundations, community fundraising, individual giving and corporates.

Role description and purpose

The post-holder will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of CPA’s portfolio of programmes in line with the strategic direction set by the Council and Trustees. Reporting directly to the CEO, the post-holder will be a key member of the senior management team, leading the Programme/Project Management team and working with the Finance Manager, Communications Lead, Research Lead, Advisors and other key staff to develop and deliver CPA programmes across the Commonwealth and beyond. This will include strategic planning, project and team management, development of workplans and budgets, provision of leadership, good governance and oversight of all programme-related activities. This role will be responsible for engaging and working with external agencies, subject matter experts, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the on-budget delivery of high-quality outputs across CPA’s portfolio of programmes. The post holder will also be required to work with other Leads and key staff across the organisation to scope and develop relationships with potential funders and support the creation of funding proposals for future programmes and workstreams, integrating their delivery into the overall programmes portfolio.

Key duties and responsibilities

Leadership and operational planning, management and oversight

• Collaborate with the Board, CEO and key staff to develop and advance the organisational strategic plan and goals and ensure programme areas align with strategic plan.

• Implement the strategic plan, integrating all aspects of the organisation’s work into programmes, including policy, advocacy, communications, product development, research and evaluation.

• Work with the CEO and senior management team, creating, maintaining, and/or overseeing systems and processes to ensure effective management of the daily operations of the programmes team and an organisational structure that supports the organisation’s goals.

Programme planning and management

• Oversee and lead the development and delivery of high-quality programmes, services and resources in line with users’ needs and the wider global health landscape, taking into consideration other relevant internal and external programmes, services and resources already available or under development.

• Lead and direct the appropriate use of programme resources including staffing and finances, ensuring programmes are delivered to budget in accordance to agreed KPIs and outcomes.

• Manage grant life cycles, from request to close. This entails supporting the writing of/reviewing applications, overseeing budgets, reviewing or producing relevant reports, and monitoring impact.

• Deepen existing relationships with donors, agencies, and stakeholders to enhance programme sustainability, engaging with key stakeholders to understand their needs and align programme offerings accordingly.

• Working with other key staff, and in alignment with the strategic priorities of the charity, support the identification and development of new partnerships and funding opportunities to expand the programme portfolio.

Human resources planning and management

• Leading the programmes team, including direct line management responsibility, regular one-to-ones, team meetings, pastoral support and appraisals.

• Determine human resource requirements for the management and delivery of programmes, services and resources; recruit, select and appoint appropriate staff according to need and funding availability.

• Ensure adherence to human resources policies, procedures and practices including the development of job descriptions for all staff.

• Significant programme leadership experience within the international development/global health context.

We are looking for a Business Analyst to join the Service Design team on a permanent contract. The Fund is committed to growing user-centred design skills and best practice across the organisation, as well as embedding these approaches, tools, and techniques into our everyday work, especially in terms of our funding. As a Business Analyst, you have the ability and vision to deliver changes and improvements that provide lasting added value. You are instrumental in facilitating the design and development of accessible user-centred services, supporting our grant-holders, the communities they serve, and the Fund’s frontline staff. Working with a User-centred Design approach in a multidisciplinary effort you are expected to ensure the pieces fit together.

You’ll join our dedicated Service design team of 14 staff but often working in smaller cross functional teams where you'll be at the heart of the product; driving this forward, gaining insight into users' intentions and behaviours, and utilising this knowledge to create solutions that are accessible and inclusive, and meet customer needs. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, you’ll also maintain strong relationships with our key stakeholders in the business.

Who are we looking for?

· You will have one years experience of Business Analysis, with good understanding of the full design and development cycle from research, analysing complex user and business requirements, to prototyping through to test and launch.

· You’re genuinely interested in and passionate about engaging and communicating effectively with customers and developers to deliver the best possible user experience.

· Critical to your success is your ability to develop an expert understanding of the needs of our users, both internal and external. You champion these needs as you develop prototypes and designs to improve services. ·

· Your role may potentially cover a wide range of organisational challenges – anything that involves a process or an end-to-end service. You’re expected to look for ways to continually improve these services and to be an advocate within for continuous improvement within the Fund.

· Your role requires you to engage effectively with users and stakeholders (including at senior level) to ensure they are clear on the benefits of the products/services, ensuring that their feedback is being used to inform ongoing improvements.

The YWF Youth Voice Coordinator Role

This role offers an exciting opportunity to coordinate and lead YWF’s revamped youth engagement initiatives. About you

You'll have previous experience in a retail environment and familiarity with cash handling and reconciliation. Excellent customer service skills are a must, along with the ability to provide a positive and welcoming experience for customers.

In this role, being a great team leader is important. You'll be able to motivate and guide a team of volunteers to ensure the seamless operation of the shop.

The Head of Advocacy and Policy will be responsible for developing an excellent Advice Service and Retention Team to support and advise students effectively to enable excellent student experience and satisfaction.

This role will lead on the development of effective insights, representation and support initiatives/campaigns for students, across our three campuses at Greenwich, Avery Hill and Medway.

This role will enhance work with the diverse student population of the University of Greenwich and lead a dynamic team to ensure students have consistent and accessible services that contribute to positive student experience.

This role sits within the wider Membership Services department, together with other key areas consisting of; Activities, Sport, Academic Communities, Representation and Democracy, we provide a high-quality service for students, that they can shape, steer and be at the heart of.

This postholder will be part of the GSU Senior Leadership Team and will be expected to contribute to department and organisation wide strategic development.

The post holder will:

• Have expert knowledge in areas of in relation to Advice and Retention and policies and legislation relating to such activity
• Support and develop strong student-led communities and campaigns in areas of: Advice, wellbeing and retention so that members can thrive
• Provide line management support to staff so that the team have up to date, specialist advice skills, knowledge and understanding of University regulations, policies and procedures that may affect the work of the Advice service and oversee engagement across Greenwich’s 3 campuses
• Undertake casework and provide expert advice for the team on all aspects of Advice
• Lead on the project management of wellbeing/health promotion campaigns and initiatives throughout the year, as well as any external bids through bodies such as OfS
• Oversee the Retention and Wellbeing Project work, and other relevant projects with external partners
• Lead on insights work relating to retention, wellbeing and support
• Lead on responses to external consultation and enquiry responses, including but not limited to OfS, Department for Education, OIA and Universities UK

• Lead on Access and Participation Plan Engagement, acting as the key contact on this area with the University.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with relevant senior UoG staff and departments including Student Academic Services, Faculties and our partners at Kent Unio
• Develop and oversee the Advice service to support advocacy initiatives at multiple levels within the University, ensuring both students and University stakeholders view GSU as a credible and reliable source of information on the needs of students.

Monitoring and Evaluation

• Develop and oversee a structured approach to gathering, analysing and reporting on data relating to engagement of students with our services and to student views on key issues relating to retention and success
• Develop and oversee processes of collecting quantitative and qualitative data from casework to analyse trends and inform feedback for the SU and university
• Ensure evaluation mechanism are embedded in the teams working practises and that findings are shared and used to implement learnings with the goal of improving services
• Support Officers by preparing information, statistics and trends about key services to be shared within the University committee cycle
• Be responsible for the implementation of service standards for the Advocacy and Policy Team and to monitor and report on adherence to these standards
• Prepare materials to apply for any relevant quality mark accreditations for the service.

Budget and Financial Management

• Manage a budget relating to Advocacy and Policy including any restricted funds.

As a Youth Intervention Practitioner working on our Youth Violence Intervention Programme in Birmingham, you will work across two hospital sites – Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QE) and Heartlands Hospital (HH). The role is primarily based at QE day to day and will visit and take referrals from the other sites on a regular basis. 

As a Youth Intervention Practitioner based in the A&E departments you will support young people who are experiencing trauma or tragedy and their families. You’ll be part of a team that is fully embedded in the hospital and that is highly valued by clinicians and community partners alike.

Job Description

Post Title: Youth Violence Intervention Practitioner 

Location: The post will work across all Birmingham service sites but be based primarily at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. All Redthread team members must have a flexible approach to supporting other sites when needed. There will be a need for regular visits to Redthread’s main offices in London and other projects and activities that take place at various locations across London and the UK.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. The nature of Redthread’s work means that regular evening and weekend work is required. You will be required to work shifts to ensure that the team covers from 7:30am to 9pm each day between them.

Salary: £26,302.50 per annum + benefits 

Contract type: 12-month fixed term, with the possibility of extension subject to funding.

DBS Check Required: Enhanced with barring (Child and Adult Workforce)

Purpose of the Post

To be part of the youth work team at Redthread, with a primary focus on the Youth Violence Intervention Programme.

Railway Benefit Fund (RBF) are a benevolent charity who have been helping railway workers and their families for over 160 years. We are here for the rail industry through tough times by providing financial grants for those struggling to afford the essentials in life. Our work focuses on the provision of grants to rail families; supporting those facing tough times by alleviating immediate financial hardship and funding support to assist wider well-being.

The Caseworker will work in the Services Team to provide an effective support services to our beneficiaries. This will involve supporting beneficiaries with grant applications, grant administration, handling initial enquires for support by phone, email and post, and referrals and signposting to RBF partnerships and external agencies.

As RBF Caseworker you will ideally have:

• The ability to provide a non-judgmental, practical and supportive welfare service to beneficiaries of the charity.
• An understanding of how to manage caseloads and knowledge of welfare benefits, including those related to disability and hardship.
• The skills required to be the first point of contact for all grant and support enquiries via telephone, post, or digital.
