Our fundraising team is made up of passionate people dedicated to making BCUK’s mission a reality, so we can prevent even more people from getting Breast Cancer. Fundraising income has grown significantly over the last few years thanks to a talented staff team, and we have an ambitious strategy to grow this income even further.  

Working with agencies, including a digital mobilisation agency, The Senior Individual Giving Officer will be responsible for leading growing our individual donor and supporter base and delivering an excellent supporter experience.   

You’ll need to be a digital native with experience in building digital-focused approached to supporter acquisition and development.

3. Proven experience in successfully raising funds from diverse income streams such as grants, donations, sponsorships, events, and partnerships.
4. Experience in managing diverse teams and complex projects across multiple countries and contexts.
5. Proven experience in change management and driving organisational development initiatives.
6. Proven financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

• Identify potential prospects, working alongside the Prospect Researcher, Senior Management colleagues and Trustees to continue to identify new prospects to grow the pipeline.
• Build, manage and maintain a portfolio of donors from £5,000 gifts upwards, stewarding relationships to ensure donor satisfaction and long-term financial commitment, including detailed and timely reporting as well as engagement with senior stakeholders within St John.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues in fundraising to identify major donor prospects and opportunities to maximise donor experience – such as work with Supporter Engagement and the Community Fundraising team.

This is an exciting 2 day a week role to be part of the growing Newham District Foodbank and Ascension’s Advice Service. On 9th June 2021 Ascension’s foodbank officially became part of the Trussell Trust network. We were named Newham District Foodbank, because our plan is to expand to more than one distribution centre to ensure that people across the whole of Newham are well supported. As part of the strategy, we have already secured funding to have debt and benefit advisors supporting each new distribution centre.

In this role you will manage the poverty response work of Ascension Community Trust, including its foodbank. You will provide high level strategic work, including liaising with donors, referral partners and other local foodbanks and support new partners into Newham District Foodbank. Your role will include fundraising for and reporting on the work of Newham District Foodbank, including local partnership funding. You will lead on the transition process covering all aspects of financial management, to ensure the Society’s financial integrity and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the financial transition to an in-house model.

Job Summary

To take the lead in ensuring that appropriate arrangements for keeping children, young people and adults at risk of harm safe are actioned at MHI as part of a Designated Safeguarding team covering the Shout platform 24/7. The role is responsible for promoting the safety and welfare of children and young people on our platform, being a consistent and reliable presence on the Shout platform, and advising Shout Supervisors on safeguarding actions and practise while raising and recording safeguarding issues as they arise. 

Key Responsibilities

• To act as an MHI Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer.
• Contribute to developing and reviewing MHI’s safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
• Alongside the DSL/Safeguarding Manager, contribute to ensuring that everyone working or volunteering with or for children and young people at MHI, including the board of trustees, understands the safeguarding and child protection policy and procedures and knows what to do if they have concerns about a child’s welfare
• Take a lead role in implementing MHI’s safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures: ensuring all safeguarding and child protection issues concerning children and young people who take part in MHI’s activities are responded to appropriately
• Take the lead on responding to information that may constitute a child protection concern, including a concern that an adult involved with MHI may present a risk to children or young people. This includes:
  • assessing and clarifying the information
  • calling in and recording all safeguarding issues as they arise.
  • supporting and responding to staff who raise internal concerns as well as supporting those who make external safeguarding referrals to police or Adult / Children's Services
  • making referrals to statutory organisations as appropriate
  • consulting with and informing the relevant members of the organisation’s management
  • following the organisation’s safeguarding policy and procedures

• Immediately referring cases to the Safeguarding Panel where there is a radicalisation concern

• Liaise with, pass on information to and receive information from statutory child protection agencies such as:

  • this includes making formal referrals to agencies when necessary.
• Record and retain child protection records according to legal requirements and the organisation’s safeguarding and child protection policy and procedures.
• Work closely with the management committee/board of trustees and Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure they are kept up to date with safeguarding issues and are fully informed of any concerns about organisational safeguarding and child protection practice.
• Contribute to regular reports to MHI’s board of trustees on issues relating to safeguarding and child protection, to ensure that child protection is seen as an ongoing priority issue and that safeguarding and child protection requirements are being followed at all levels of the organisation.
• Be familiar with and work within inter-agency child protection procedures developed by child protection agencies working in partnership with MHI.
• Be familiar with issues relating to child protection and abuse, and keep up to date with new developments in this area.

Who are we looking for?

• A formally qualified Accountant with relevant experience of financial accounting gained in a large, complex organisation (this could be commercial, Not-for-Profit or practice) 
• Good communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral, able to communicate effectively with finance professionals, senior management and trustees, and non-accountants to achieve cooperation and results
• Ability to manipulate data, analyse information, identify anomalies and extract pertinent information. Excellent attention to detail

About this Role

Together with the Director of Fundraising, the Philanthropy Manager will develop and deliver the Philanthropy Strategy, with the support of the Philanthropy Assistant.  This is a significant part of the organisation’s overall Supporter Engagement Strategy which focuses specifically on unrestricted income generation.  This role will raise unrestricted income through the development of Amref UK’s Major Gifts programme - the Mbele Movement - by identifying and cultivating new high net worth supporters, and inspiring them to make unrestricted, multi-year major gifts, in line with the Philanthropy Strategy. The Philanthropy Manager is also responsible for nurturing and growing our existing portfolio of philanthropists and philanthropic organisations by building strong relationships and securing unrestricted income in line with the Supporter Engagement Strategy.
