This is a new fundraising opportunity to help provide support for serving personnel, veterans and their families ensuring that no-one battles alone.

Supported by the Statutory Grants Manager, this role is fundamental in developing, supporting and championing new and existing fundraising from heath providers and local authorities. The aim is to increase income generation in this area whilst raising SSAFA’s profile within local authorities and health care provision. This initiative will require relationship development and bid writing skills to create effective proposals for support.

SSAFA is entering into an exciting period of strategic development within this proven income stream. If successful, you will be the part of a small team with potential for career development.

There will be an occasional need to travel across the UK and to work evenings and weekends at key events.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a key member of the team, the Grants Officer will work closely with the Head of Charity and colleagues across the team to build a sustainable funding pipeline to help generate significant growth by securing grants by:

• Personally securing substantial gifts from Trusts and Foundations (up to £150k)
• Delivering income targets, in line with the annual budget, from a portfolio of Trusts and Corporate Foundations
• Responsibility for researching Trusts and Corporate Foundations in alignment with a wide variety of projects and appeals that address the needs of BTH
• Developing high-quality bids/applications/cases for support for a variety of funders
• Managing stewardship activities for Trusts and Corporate Foundations, including tracking of reports and payments
• Working proactively with contacts within the Trust to identify and scope opportunities to maximise impact and income
• Working effectively with operational and clinical staff to develop and implement opportunities to foster and strengthen long-term relationships with donors and Trust representatives

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Evidence of high-levels of numeracy and literacy and good general level of education
• Degree qualification, in relevant business-related subject, or equivalent experience to degree level

• Externally accredited qualification such as IoF Foundation in Fundraising Practice
• Fundraising specific training to degree level, e.g. proposal writing, negotiation skills etc., or equivalent experience

Experience

• A proven track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising income targets by writing bids and securing medium value gifts (£10k-£150k) within a Trusts and/or Major Donor Fundraising environment
• Experience researching prospects, including Trusts/Foundations and major donors, and managing data/prospects within a CRM system
• Knowledge of GDPR/data protection laws
• Self-motivated and self-directing; strong time management skills; strong attention to detail; flexible; and honest, with a high degree of personal integrity.

This is an exciting new position for a highly motivated, organised, analytical and collaborative grants management professional with the experience and commitment to manage a portfolio of grants. The role will include ensuring that project leads have the tools, systems and processes in place to deliver against their grants, whilst adhering to organisational and donor-specific compliance standards.

The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) is a high-profile organisation and trade association leading the international clean energy transition as the world seeks to stay within 1.5c global warming target. Our mission is to ensure that wind power establishes itself as the answer to today’s energy challenges, providing substantial environmental and economic benefits.

Over the next two years, GWEC expects to rapidly scale up the number and size of the grants that we are managing globally. The post-holder will play a pivotal role in securing new grants, and building the capacity of the global staff team to effectively manage the grants once secured. The successful applicant is likely to be someone who enjoys problem solving, innovation and collaboration with multiple departments and individuals. 

Headline overview of responsibilities: 

- Grant identification and pipeline management: Conduct research to identify potential grant funding opportunities. Conduct research and analysis on the reporting and financial requirements of prospective donors. Maintain the funding pipeline/ grant management database

- Grant application oversight: Manage the end-to-end grant application process for new grants.

- Budget and financial management: Collaborate with the project and finance teams to develop project budgets. Monitor spending against grants in relation to activities delivered. Ensure Project Leads receive monthly spend updates. Ensure donor budgets are utilised as directed, financial reporting is on-track, and any alterations are communicated internally and externally. Support Project Leads to re-forecast budgets.

- Grant compliance: Ensure compliance with grant agreements, reporting requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Ensure that the project delivery team is inducted on contractual obligations, and provide support and advice regarding adherence to contracts throughout the grant period. Support on grant management documentation, including quality assuring processes. Support the project delivery teams in the preparation and submission of donor reports, through until grant close-out.

- Grant Performance Management: Ensure that all grant management tools are set up with each grant’s inception period. Coordinate quarterly grant oversight meetings, and hold project delivery teams to account for delivery of projects. Ensure GWEC fulfils its obligations to donors as per grant contracts. Support the finance team to liaise with auditors throughout audits.

- Knowledge sharing: Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant funding and statutory funding. Share technical advice, grant specific guidance and project management best practices and tools. Contribute to GWECs grant-related systems, policies, processes, and guidelines.

- Strategy delivery: Support the Grants Director in the delivery of the fundraising strategy, including assuming responsibility for the delivery of identified tasks within the team’s annual work plan. Engage in regular monitoring of progress against the work plan.

Essentia Person Criteria:

• Right to work in UK or Portugal

• Fluency in written and spoken English

• University Degree (BA or Bsc)

• 3 or more years relevant  experience, in either a non-profit organisation or a grant making organisation

As Senior Trusts and Grants Officer, your primary priority is to generate multi-year income for YoungMinds specifically from Trusts, Foundations and occasional Government funding i.e statutory sources.

We are seeking a well organised individual to support with the management and development of our foundations, grants and trusts work.

As we enter our seventh year as a charity and our work established within West Wales, we are now getting set to fulfil our mission that all children, wherever they reside in Wales, should be able to access the right support, at the right time.

Our new Foundations, grants and trusts officer will Work closely with the fundraising Officer and wider team and be able to guide and navigate their way through the various ways we need to engage with, apply to and subsequently report back to trusts and foundations; large and small.

The role is offered full or part-time and with the flexibility of office based in Pembrokeshire or working remotely from anywhere within Wales. The role will support our work across Wales and will have regular travel around the country and to meetings in our Pembrokeshire Centre.

The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is an international organisation that protects the natural world and defends our shared, fundamental human rights to a secure environment. With grassroots projects and national programmes in 16 countries and a growing investigative, filmmaking, and campaigns team working to protect our global ocean and climate, wetlands and forests, EJF is growing fast. This new role reflects our ambition to increase our income and diversify our funding to meet our commitment to defend the planet, wildlife and people.

Most of EJF’s income comes from private foundations and government agencies in the UK, Europe, and the USA. We want to diversify the funding base by sharing our impact and ambitions with potential funders and securing long-term prospects that help us plan and sustain our international campaigns. The role needs a highly organised and self-motivated individual to identify opportunities and manage the grant application and reporting process.

About the Role

The post is new to EJF, offering an unusual opportunity to join a dynamic growing organisation and help deliver on EJF’s vision for the future. The role will work directly with the directors and COO, senior management, and colleagues in every geography, giving unique insights into each team's operations and impacts and the issues they are working on.

This role is for you if you are enthusiastic and self-motivated with superb, precise and persuasive written skills and meticulous attention to detail. You are organised and able to meet deadlines and prioritise your workload. You have a track record of writing successful grant applications and meeting the reporting requirements to deadlines. You enjoy researching and reaching out to prospective funders, building relationships, and liaising with colleagues to ensure you have the information needed to craft winning proposals. You are a confident speaker who will inspire funders to support our work.

Responsibilities include:

• Research and make recommendations of funding opportunities (new funders) and the best fit with EJF’s current and planned programmes. Draft initial enquiries (LoI or call) or funding applications. Ensure timely, appropriate follow-up is conducted and that we collect and learn from feedback.

• As directed, manage relationships with funders, ensuring timely reporting that meets their needs. This will include drafting the funder newsletter (bi-monthly) and providing new materials, such as reports, films, audits, etc.

• Draft funding proposals and monitor all deadlines for reporting, planning for the timebound and efficient delivery, and working with team members to ensure the highest quality reports are drafted in good time.

• Organise a monthly meeting with the directors and COO to present opportunities and actions and agree on priorities and approaches to donors.

• Take the lead in preparing government grant applications, liaising with colleagues for information and finessing draft texts.

• Maintain the grant database and ensure it is regularly checked and updated and that leads are followed up.

• Maintain the grants calendar, ensuring you are aware of reporting deadlines and other priority needs well in advance and ensuring no deadlines are missed. The role will take a proactive lead and coordinate as required.

• Assist in delivering events to update existing and attract new funders and ensure appropriate follow-up.

• Assist in crafting presentations to funders and, as required, work with the comms team to develop films or other materials.

Essential skills and attributes

• You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrable experience drafting clear, precise, and engaging copy, winning fundraising proposals, and supporting materials.

• You can deliver presentations and engage with funders.

• You are meticulously organised and able to meet multiple priorities to tight deadlines.

• You are friendly, self-motivated, and confident, and you can connect easily with colleagues and funders.

• Fluent in written and spoken English; other modern European languages are an asset.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled writer and fundraiser to tell the stories of SAT-7 and the people of the MENA in fresh and powerful ways.

You’ll be working in a fast-paced, creative environment as part of the Fundraising Team, delivering high quality proposals and reports. You’ll be one of the main points of contact with our international office, gathering and repurposing impactful proposals and reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant Fundraising

• Preparing, maintaining and delivering an annual plan for all grant applications
• Writing compelling proposals and reports to grant-making trusts and organisations
• Identifying and developing relationships with selected key funders
• Researching new potential funders
• Liaising with our SAT-7 International Development Team to identify projects which require funding and source material for proposals and reports

Grant Funding Hub

• Supporting internal teams with appropriate funding proposals and connected reports
• Supporting development of cross-organisational impact reports as required

Statutory and Development Funding

• Monitor statutory funding opportunities and, working with your line manager, support the development of applications, proposals and reports.
