JOB DESCRIPTION

Role:The Senior Development Officer ​plays an integral role within the Development Team at Forces Employment Charity (FEC). You will work with the Head of Development to produce high quality, bespoke proposals, and reports to demonstrate impact and outcomes to help drive the delivery of FEC across the UK. You will also work within the team to research and identify new fundraising opportunities from trusts, foundations and companies and convert these into long term business relationships.

This position provides a full-time, permanent contract with hybrid working hours, consisting of a 35-hour week. The role allows for hybrid work, including remote work from home, with one day per month at our head office in London.
​

Principle Responsibilities:
​

• To work closely with the Head of Development to research and identify new opportunities.
• Develop, prepare, and submit high quality funding applications, acting as bid writing SME.
• Peer Review support to mentor other team members.
• Work with Head of Development to increase the accuracy of our Salesforce data, resulting in data dashboards suitable to the reporting needs of our funders.
• Collaborate with Development and Senior F&R Officer to implement a team strategy and support a lean process of reporting.
• Work with Senior Finance & Reporting Officer to report impact to our funders in line in the funding requirements.
• To work closely with Head of Development to develop and implement our fundraising strategy.
• Represent the organisation at research based events, developing our understanding and enhancing our delivery.
• Identify new opportunities and working with the team to covert these to applications and funding.
• Lead on individual Giving Strategy, working with Head of Development and Development Officer to expand opportunities.
• Any other relevant duties at the discretion of management.

You and your team will organise and deliver a minimum of 15 training classes per week (both online and in person), ensuring the attendees get the best possible experience within the school. Leading a small team of coaches, you will have a responsibility for development of in-class training skills and behaviour knowledge, as well as undertaking all performance management activities. Acting as a Dogs Trust ambassador you will promote Dog School in the local area through networking with relevant local businesses and targeting potential local events.

With experience of delivering dog training Classes you will have excellent communication and organisational skills. Passionate about helping dog owners better understand their pets you will have a good knowledge of the scientific principles underlying the development of behaviour in dogs.

An experience of managing a small team would be an advantage. However, we are keen to hear from talented trainers who are looking to develop their management skills. We also have plenty of other development opportunities; all Dog School team members are developed towards their APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) assessment and ongoing membership is paid for. Person specification​

Remuneration and details​

PERSON SPECIFICATION

This role would suit someone with a proven track record in collaborative new business development from concept and research to delivery; ideally in an environment working with local authorities, NHS, DWP, health bodies, and/or grant institutions.  We are also looking for an exceptional communicator with strong verbal and written influencing skills across various levels of seniority.  Our ideal candidate will have a strong commercial acumen, including sales and negotiation expertise, and a good understanding of the financial principles applicable in the charity sector.  The successful candidate will be expected to uphold and embody the values of Twining in all aspects of their work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead and support the creation of high-quality bids and funding applications, including finalising technical questions and method statements.

· Manage the administrative components of the tendering process.

· Conduct research to identify income opportunities related to the employment and mental health offer.

· Build and maintain networks with local health, social care and employment agencies.

· Stay informed about procurement practices and commissioning trends in London and nationally.

· Contribute to the shaping of Twining’s development strategy by identifying growth opportunities.

· Participate in events to position Twining as a thought leader in relevant sectors.

· Assist with the mobilisation of successful tenders, ensuring a smooth transition from award to contract initiation.

· Evaluate bids to improve future submissions and seek feedback on both successful and unsuccessful proposals.

· Keep updated on sector developments in employability.

· Attend meetings with Commissioners to foster relationships.

· Aid in the re-development of existing services to secure additional funding and/or efficiencies.

· Engage in tender presentations and clarification interviews as needed.

· Form partnerships and consortia to explore alternative service delivery methods.

· Support the retention of services by contributing to operational improvement initiatives.

· Coordinate with operations staff to optimise staffing structures and service delivery models for the best service user outcomes.

· Identify personal training and development needs and arrange visits to key services.

· Act as an ambassador for Twining, representing the organisation's interests with stakeholders.

12 months fixed term, 35 hours per week

Location: Here East or another Scope office with flexibility to work from the office and from home.There is a clear expectation of regularly spending time in the Here East office with teams whenever needed as well as occasional travel to other locations.

The role

This role is in our Operational Performance team. You will work with the CFO and finance team to make sure our plans match our budget, the strategy and the three-year plan.

As the Head of Planning, you will:

• Work together with leaders to create and improve our organisation's plans and make sure our plans help us reach our goals.
• Review how Scope manages and monitors large scale projects
• Keep track of how we're doing using important measures.
• Include disabled people in making decisions.
• Lead and help make our organisation better.
