As part of the next phase of implementing a new organisational strategy with a view to further growth, Cycling UK are looking for a finance leader to support in day to day running of our finances as well as driving longer-term transformation and strategic ambitions.
The Role
Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of Strategic Financial Planning & Control is a pivotal position within the Cycling UK team. Working as part of the leadership team within Cycling UK, this is an important role in leading the finance team and working to enhance the organisation’s longer-term strategic vision.
- Line management of the finance team members (4 reports) including supporting the development of all direct reports;
- Leading the preparation and implementation of a multi-year plan and annual budget aligned with our business planning and programme management processes;
- Lead budget and forecast reviews at appropriate intervals in the financial year to ensure accurate and timely forecasts of income and expenditure;
- Collaborating with the Chief Operating Officer, Senior leadership team and Heads of department to develop and embed a robust finance strategy which supports the delivery of our organisational strategy and aligns with our growth aspirations;
- Develop and maintain an effective system of financial controls that ensure the safeguarding of charity assets and the reliability of the financial statements;
- Lead the preparation and production of the annual report and accounts;
- Oversight for all accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and ledgers;

- Salary £51,000 - £57,000 per annum

Your key responsibilities include:

- Serve as a member of the Global Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Leadership Team.
- Keep up to date with the latest legislative and statutory developments relating to the role, advising staff and the Senior Leadership Team as appropriate.

Your knowledge:
- Proven knowledge of fundraising and/or marketing.

This is a new permanent role on our Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the CEO and specifically designed to deliver against the next phase of Waterwise’s journey – increasing our reach and impact on water efficiency both within and beyond the water sector. You’ll be leading and broadening our commercial offer, helping us drive even greater impact in water efficiency, and the income to support it, across the UK. You’ll refine our proposition and pricing of existing services, seeking opportunities to cross-sell additional services to existing audiences, as well as broadening our reach, engaging with completely new audiences and developing and shaping new commercial services aligned to new customer needs. Last year we saw a 133% growth in the numbers of young people facing homelessness coming through our doors. Now, nearly half of them are - or recently have been - sleeping rough and with the numbers of young rough sleepers in the capital growing at an alarming rate, New Horizon Youth Centre has had to take decisive action to unlock support and housing for this group. The Head of Services - Rough Sleeping is a brand-new role for the organisation and will lead on developing a new internal strategy for young people facing rough sleeping, as well as holding operational oversight of our established youth-specific street outreach function and emergency accommodation hub, both of which are unique in London. You will need to be strategic in approach and an excellent relationship builder. You will act as our lead colleague on relationships with the Greater London Authority and London Councils’ rough sleeping teams, working with them to ensure our learning and insights inform policy and ultimately open up access to emergency support for those under 25. Alongside this you will need a keen eye for operational detail, have experience of delivering homelessness services, and be passionate about piloting new solutions to prevent homelessness among young people. As our Head of Brand and Health Engagement, you’ll be responsible for managing a team to produce sector-leading, highly effective, marketing campaigns and customer journeys, inspiring more people to engage with and support the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and its lifesaving work.
Every penny counts so each piece of activity needs to achieve demonstrable results, driving active support and engagement with the BHF aligned with our brand & marketing strategies. You’ll champion effectiveness within your own team and take a lead role in the development of integrated marketing communications.
Working with peers, this role will ensure the integration of activity across all the BHF’s marketing communications and challenge agencies and in-house teams to develop the most effective approach.

Working arrangements
