The Guest Experience teams sit within National Gallery Global, the commercial arm of the National Gallery, and is dedicated to presenting, refining and delivering world-class experiences and services to all onsite visitors, guests, and stakeholders. The Head of Hosted Guest Experience will play a pivotal role in leading the Guest Experience teams to deliver a seamless guest journey to our visitors, building guest loyalty, revenue and engagement, and exceeding expectations in all commercial touchpoints. 

This role will lead NGG teams in delivering exceptional front-of-house services to enhance guest loyalty, revenue, and return visitation, while forstering  collaboration with internal stakeholders to develop a unified approach to guest engagement.

We are looking for a talented fundraiser, ideally with a background in the cultural sector to join the Gardens, Libraries & Museums (GLAM) Team within the Development and Alumni Engagement team of the University of Oxford.

In this role in any given week you might see a dodo, extraordinary thousand-year old Chinese ceramics, insects collected by Darwin, the first scientifically described dinosaur and drawings by John Ruskin, as well as work on projects involving saving the largest flower in the world or supporting world-leading restitution work.

The collections are important and renowned on their own accounts, but also play a key role in the University’s research.  In addition, they are the open doors to the University of Oxford, encouraging a diverse range of communities to engage with our academics and curators.

About the role:

Your role will include fundraising to support the various institutions, working with individuals, trusts and corporations.  You will be responsible for a portfolio of donors, including prospecting and stewardship.  As part of the wider GLAM fundraising team, you will also be responsible for delivery of stewardship events and get involved with wider appeal activities.  You will work with curators and Directors in the various institutions and have the opportunity to frame appealing projects to present to prospects.

Schoolreaders was launched ten years ago in Bedfordshire with the aim of recruiting volunteers to provide one-to-one reading support for children in primary schools across the country. Location: We have a hybrid approach to working, work pattern and location will be agreed with the successful candidate. The role can be based at any of our UK offices, these are Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Newcastle and Newtown. 

Essential criteria

•  Experience of leading and developing dispersed, high performing team to deliver excellent service to internal stakeholders
• Significant experience of delivering the key elements of the strategy management system, and the ability to provide professionally presented strategic analysis to senior audiences 
• Demonstrable experience of program/project management and relevant qualification i.e. PgM, Prince 2 Agile Foundation & Practitioner
• Solid stakeholder management experience at senior level i.e. SMT and Chief Executive, incl influencing senior decision makers, teams and colleagues
• Ability to facilitate difficult discussions with diverse range of stakeholders
• Significant experience of collaborating with and influencing internal customers to create effective business processes
• Experience of making sense of complex strategic issues, and the ability to triangulate data and metrics with strategic learning
• Knowledgeable in business excellence frameworks such as EFQM

About the role

As we continue to build on the successes achieved over the last 3 years, Gresham College is seeking a new Head of Fundraising and Engagement, who will be responsible for driving income generation for the College and for engaging our audiences through traditional and digital means.

The Head of Fundraising and Engagement will play the central role in continuing to draw new forms of income to support the College’s educational mission. You will lead on a portfolio of income-generating activities, including individual giving and legacies, corporate sponsorship, events, trusts and foundations, business development, venue hire and collaborative partnerships.

You will build on the success of the 6.5 million annual views of our YouTube channel to generate income from small donations and memberships, as well as play the lead role in growing relationships with high-net-worth individuals and corporations.

As Head of Fundraising and Engagement, you will have responsibility for the College’s wider profile and engagement, in owned, earned and paid-for media, including traditional and digital channels.

You will be responsible for brand management and development, including management of the College’s online and PR presence to grow our profile and reputation.

The Head of Fundraising and Engagement will line manage a team of four.

Who we are looking for

You will have a track record of success in raising income in a charity environment, alongside knowledge of the requirements of the fundraising regulator and best practice in the sector.

You will bring experience of working across a range of income generation areas and activities, including membership, HNWIs, corporate, and trusts and foundations. It is essential that candidates demonstrate their ability to identify, build and maintain strong donor, sponsor and supporter relationships. You should also be familiar with managing engagement and communications programmes, particularly through digital means.

Candidates should bring experience of managing individuals or teams focused on income generation within a relevant setting and be able to demonstrate the impact of their leadership through the achievement of successful income generation activities.

• Experience influencing and delivering results cross-organisationally in a large complex organisation.
• Strong leadership and influencing skills at senior levels.

• Excellent written and presentation skills, including the ability to engage at CEO level.

Ways of Working:
