DOTWUK have a fun and friendly finance team in a small, but high-performing function and are looking for a collaborative, experienced and energetic leader for the role of Head of Finance. 

In this exciting role, the successful candidate will provide the organisation with a timely, accurate and relevant financial management service by assuming day-to-day responsibility for the organisation’s accounting function, to enable the senior management team and the Board of Trustees to assess results and performance and make informed, strategic decisions, and ensure the organisation complies with statutory and corporate regulation and requirements. 

You will work closely with the treasurer, directors and managers to enable them to manage their programme finances and support them to report to donors and to devise sound plans for growth and sustainability. 

The UK chapter expects to grow income across all sources, including from institutions and foundations. You will play a critical role in maintaining and building on this success. 

You will also be responsible for and provide input from a financial and management perspective on strategic development and the general organisation-wide structure and management as part of the Senior Management Team.

The Role

As our Head of Finance, you will actively lead on the management of all aspects of the finance function to include;

· The production of interim and annual financial statements that comply with the requirements of the Charities SORP (FRS 102).

· Preparing all information and supporting documentation for the annual audit, and liaising with the National Audit Office, and the NFC’s external auditors.

· Supporting the internal audit process.

· Fulfilling the accounting and reporting requirements to Defra.

· Working closely with the Director of Corporate Services and Senior Leadership Team to develop strategic financial initiatives that support financial forecasting, goal setting and financial planning.

You will directly line manage the Finance Manager, ensuring the smooth operations of the finance function.

Your role will also involve:

· Preparing the annual budget

· Overseeing and signing off monthly payroll

· Contributing to the development and management of financial systems and procedures

About You

To be considered as our Head of Finance, you will need:

· To be a qualified accountant with at least five years’ relevant experience

· Senior experience in the charity sector, including producing charity SORP compliant group accounts and monthly management accounts.

· Experience of the financial management of complex restricted funded projects

· Knowledge of charity trading and gift aid arrangements

· Good written and oral communication skills

JOB PURPOSE

The Head of Finance will lead a small, established finance team and will need to drive a successful business partnership approach with teams across the organisation, achieving greater efficiency both in ways of working and in purchasing and in investigating how our systems and technology can best meet our operational needs. This role is pivotal in the charity, and a great opportunity for an exceptional finance professional to contribute to the continuous improvement of the charity, finance function and team. You will take day to day responsibility for financial accounting, the provision of management information and will actively manage financial planning and forecasting. A track record in successful business partnering is essential as we develop and refine our business model. Previous experience in a management information function, either within the not-for-profit sector or a similar sized commercial organisation, is needed. Good communication skills and the ability to explain complex information to staff at varying levels are therefore essential as is the ability to provide leadership and motivate staff.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a diverse role across the full spectrum of the finance function, with the post holder responsible for the timely provision of management information as well as leading the Finance Team in delivering a full financial accounting and statutory reporting service to ensure UK for UNHCR is compliant with all financial regulation. Central to the role is the critical review and the effective communication of financial information and its implications to all levels of management while also delivering a high quality, customer focused finance partnering service to senior managers and SMT. 

Key accountabilities:

• Oversee the provision of clear, accurate, timely and user friendly (financial and non-financial) management information to Directors, senior managers and staff to support the decision-making process and to allow managers to proactively manage their budgets.
• Take full management responsibility for the Finance Manager and Finance and Administration Assistant, leading, motivating and developing them so that that they are clearly focused, competent, and work effectively and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and prepare statutory accounts, corporation tax, Gift Aid, VAT, Charity Commission and other statutory financial returns for the charity and its trading subsidiary as appropriate. 
• Manage the annual audit process, being the point of contact for external auditors on operational matters relating to the audit process and providing information and documentation supporting the annual report and accounts.
• Develop and maintain various business and financial planning processes in support of the strategic needs of the organisation. This includes:

1. Annual budgeting process.
2. Overseeing financial reforecasts at regular (currently quarterly) intervals.
3. Playing an active role in the broader business planning process.
4. Planning and managing cash flows to meet the short and long-term needs of the organisation, maximising interest receivable where opportunities allow. 

• Drive financial ownership, accountability and understanding across the organisation by ensuring budget owners have the knowledge, skills and tools to manage their budgets effectively. Ensure effective financial business partnering is underpinned by effective processes and guidance.
• Provide support to all teams and in particular the fundraising teams in the completion of funding applications and, following successful bids, ensuring appropriate processes are in place to monitor and report progress of Restricted Funding projects.
• Recommend an appropriate reporting process and format for restricted projects to enable their effective management by budget holders and for inclusion in management accounts reporting.
• Ensure the internal financial control environment is adequate to safeguard the Charity’s assets and is properly documented, and liaise as needed with external professional advisors, such as auditors and our bankers.
• Ensure premises and facilities are managed appropriately on a day-to-day basis, line managing the Finance and Administration Assistant, and taking the lead in matters relating to property leases.
• Develop own knowledge base and keep abreast of changes in the regulatory and financial environment, as well as new initiatives and best practice in the sector to ensure the charity’s policies and processes are fit for purpose and adapt as UK for UNHCR evolves. 
• Support the Senior Management Team in other work as may be required from time to time and, as time allows, engage in the broader work of the charity to ensure the post holder has a recognisable profile as the leader of a key team and has an understanding of the work we do.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE 

Knowledge: 

• A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with significant post qualification finance experience at a senior level.

Skills:

• Track record of success at a senior level within an organisation of comparable size and complexity, including hands on experience in delivering a bespoke finance service.
• Proven ability to communicate successfully with different stakeholders, both written and verbal, and including the ability to influence and negotiate.
• Ability to critically review, analyse and interpret complex financial and management information and present it clearly and appropriately to different audiences.
• Comfortable in dealing with detail as required given the constraints of working in a small team.
• Confident with a range of IT software, including hands on experience in managing, using and configuring accounting packages.
• Experience of software implementation, and ideally of accounting systems.
• Strong leadership skills including the ability to motivate and develop staff members.
• Knowledge of the legislative, tax and regulatory framework of companies, ideally in the not-for-profit sector.
• Track record in successful project management.
• Ability to identify, assess and manage risks and make recommendations based on objective criteria.
• Team player able to establish productive working relationships with both colleagues and externally.
• Strategic thinker who is pro-active in identifying opportunities for the organisation, and within the finance function for improvements in business process.

Experience: 

• Relevant post-qualification experience, to include managing a finance team. 
• Experience of developing and implementing financial procedures and controls. 
• Experience of commercial or charity accounting including the preparation of statutory accounts and preferably SORP compliance.
• Experience of preparing management accounts in a rigorous environment.
• Experience of managing the preparation of budgets and business plans.
• Experience of VAT accounting, preferably the partial exemption basis and corporation tax.

About you and the role

The purpose of this role is to lead on our finance strategy, and ensure all of our systems, reporting and processes are helping to drive forward the charity and deliver on our objectives at scale. You will work closely with the Chief Executive and Directors to ensure that financial planning is effective and supported by accurate data analysis. You will have a crucial role in shaping our systems and processes to ensure we can scale effectively, both our existing programmes and a new membership-based programme that is in development. You will support and mentor the Finance and Office Manager, ensuring that financial administration is carried out proficiently and in line with all legal and regulatory requirements, including ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all statutory filings are made accurately and on time. Key responsibilities:

• Developing a comprehensive financial strategy that supports the delivery of the charity’s objectives and activities

• Reviewing suitability of our current systems: Quickbooks for accountancy, Beacon CRM, PLEO for expenses management, Survey Monkey for data collection etc.

• Working closely with the Director of Transformations to translate the annual activity plan into an accurate organisational-level budget

• Advising the Chief Executive, team and Trustees, ensuring that benefits and risks of decisions are fully considered and fit with the overall financial strategy

• Provide leadership and guidance to all things finance related, providing mentoring and support to the team

• Ability to plan and prioritise own and others work to set deadlines, with good time management skills
• High level of IT competency to support your role, including the use of technology and Microsoft Office

At Leeds Beckett Students’ Union we have the opportunity for someone with accounting and budget setting experience to join the team in the new role of Head of Finance.

You’ll lead the finance team on all operational aspects to support the work of the students’ union.  You’ll strive to deliver outstanding service to a variety of stakeholders and ensure legal compliance at all times.  

The role will suit an individual with a high level of attention-to-detail and exceptional accounting skills, with experience of financial management. You will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will be committed, self-motivated, and adaptable and be able to work with minimum supervision.

We are working in partnership with a charity which offers free and confidential information, advice, counselling, support and advocacy for children and young people under 26 in Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth whose mission is to empower young people to reach their full potential.

The charity is now seeking to appoint a Head of Finance who will have oversight of the finance team and will lead on strategic and operational financial management of the charity and preparing and analysing information. 

This is an exciting opportunity to build on the charity’s existing successes, developing strength and sustainability to underpin services that benefit thousands of children and young people each year.

The successful applicant will be a qualified Accountant (CIMA / CIPFA / ACCA / ACA or equivalent), consideration may be given to a part-qualified candidate with substantial relevant experience and possessing a desire to consider continuing towards full-qualification. 

You will demonstrate:

• Experience and understanding of financial processes including budget management, forecasting, day-to-day income and expenditure processes, monthly reporting, and year end audit processes
• Up-to-date knowledge of Charity regulations and relevant legislation and legal requirements
• Successful track record in working with a Trustee Board or other executive boards
• Ability to prioritise and organise own work, and that of others, to meet deadlines
• Experience of costing services/projects and producing comprehensive budgets

The successful individual will be part of the Senior Leadership Team and will make an active contribution to the strategic direction, planning and leadership of the charity in collaboration with the wider team.  You will have high level of IT competency to support this role, including the use of Microsoft Office, and excellent communication skills with a commitment to personal growth and development.  You will be a role model for the values of the Charity and ensure the needs of children and young people are at the heart of everything you do.

There may be opportunity to provide leadership oversight to other organisational infrastructure functions including IT, Business Support, Fundraising and Communications, depending on the candidate.

The Head of Finance is responsible for ensuring that the finances of the Centre are managed efficiently and effectively to support the delivery of services in line with our clients ambitions.

Head of Finance and People - 3 days a week role - National

Are you a talented experienced Head of Finance and People keen to join a growing organisation that makes a big impact on the lives of people in need of advice.  Charity People is delighted to be partnering with AdviceUK at a time of investment in their team, and is recruiting for a Head of Finance and People. 

This is a newly created role, fully remote where you are required to come to London four time a year. Working very closely with a forward-thinking CEO and being part of a newly established Senior Leadership Team (SLT), as the Head of Finance and People, you will be leading a team of Finance and HR professionals to ensure Advice UK's business plan and strategic priorities are achieved.

Salary: £64,000 - £68,000 per annum pro ratad to three days a week plus Regional Weighting (upto £4,454 in London)

Contract: Part time - 21 hours per week (0.6 FT), Permanent

Some of your key duties and responsibilities are;

• To ensure the continued development of our financial strategy supporting the achievement of Advice UK strategic objectives and rolling three-year business plan. As part of this lead the annual planning and budget process
• Be accountable for AdviceUK's finance, HR and compliance work, making key decisions that impact their direction and performance. Wherever possible, use data and evidence to inform your decision-making

• Oversee the preparation, analysis and distribution of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with UK accounting standards, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and financial forecasts
• Support SLT to contribute to the development of AdviceUK's financial planning, supporting them to take an organisation-wide view on where best to invest to support the achievement of strategic objectives

• Lead AdviceUK's compliance management, by working with staff leading specific compliance areas to ensure the charity meets all UK legal and regulatory requirement and undertakes all required, filing and reporting. As part of this work closely with the Data Protection Officer to ensure data protection and cyber security requirements are met and with the HR function to ensure health and safety requirements are met.
• Lead the SLT and key suppliers in developing a business continuity plan that ensures AdviceUK can continue to deliver its strategic objectives and support its members in times of business interruption. Once established ensure it is regularly reviewed and tested.

• Ensure the development and implementation of financial and people management policies and processes that support AdviceUK's work and culture

A prestigious university is recruiting a Head of Finance, Planning & Analysis to take on a key role and drive forward the university forward. As the head of FP&A you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Ensure the provision of a high standard of customer service in a business partnering capacity, delivering advice and information to budget-holders and senior managers in the University that is relevant, accurate and timely. 
• Lead and manage the Financial Planning and Analysis team, within Finance consisting of Business Partners, Management Accounts Analysts and a Research Finance team to deliver ‘fit for purpose’ professional support services, delivered in line with professional practice, in a consistent and timely manner within the budget allocated, adhering to financial regulations, and are evaluated for impact and value for money, and contingencies are in place to ensure business continuity and risk management.

To seek continuous improvement in the content and presentation of all financial information for management purposes, including the monthly financial report. 
• To manage the annual budget-setting process along with quarterly forecasting cycles, in liaison with the Deputy Director of Finance and Director of Planning and Performance, ensuring that it is consistent with the financial strategy inclusive, transparent and meets the University’s goals. 
• To lead the development and automation of regular financial planning cycles, including quarterly forecasting and to support the Deputy Director of Finance in the development and implementation of the 5-year planning process. 
• To lead the development and improvement of financial modelling, notably in support of financial business cases for all material initiatives requiring approval under the Universities Delegated Authority regulations.

Key areas of responsibilities;
