This role provides the main Finance point of contact across relevant teams and senior stakeholders and is expected to support various teams and cost centers. This includes the Partnerships and Philanthropy teams that generate a significant portion of UNICEF UK’s income, in addition to the Advocacy, Programme and Safeguarding teams that are integral to UNICEF UK’s strategic goals. 

Reporting to the Head of Finance Business Partnering, you will work directly with budget holders in your dedicated teams, supporting financial planning and performance reporting with analysis, insight, and constructive challenge to support decision making and strategic financial planning, driving positive outcomes for UNICEF UK.

This role requires that you come from a finance business partnering or FP&A background with extensive relationship-building across various stakeholders, and a track record in driving strategic financial decisions and performance monitoring in fundraising Partnership teams, through profit/efficiency measures and effective financial planning covering budgeting and reforecasting. The role requires strong analytical and influencing skills and the capability to balance a strategic and ‘big picture’ mindset with strong attention to detail.

The Finance Business Partner will report to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis and work closely with the Grants team. The role will support financial control across the granting process, helping to drive efficient use of granting budgets, and timely and accurate reporting to key stakeholders.

Head of Finance and Operations

Location: The role is based at the Trust’s office in West Berkshire with a minimum of three days per week expected to be worked at our Newbury office. Flexible working arrangements are available with the understanding that this must meet the objectives of the charity and requirements of the role.

Start date: 01/08/2024 or as soon as possible thereafter

Hours of work: Full-time, permanent.

Salary range: £55,000 - £60,000 FTE, depending on experience.

Purpose

This is an exciting and vital role performing a range of finance and governance tasks, working within the Senior Leadership Team of a leading mental health charity focused on supporting children and young people.

The Head of Finance and Operations (HFO) will be responsible for the successful management of the charity finances and operations, as well as making a leading contribution to the  charity’s strategic direction.  The role is responsible to the CEO, and activity oversight spans finance, HR, IT, and office management. The HFO is also responsible to the Trustees for the financial state of the charity and as Company Secretary. As a result, the HFO must working closely with the treasurer, members of the finance and investment committee, as well as the senior leadership team and our existing finance and operation colleagues.

We are looking for an highly motivated, efficient, diligent and confident finance professional with experience of managing a team. The role is varied and would suit a qualified accountant with experience of working collaboratively and compassionately with a range of colleagues to achieve organisational objectives. There will be opportunities to increase knowledge and the successful candidate could be supported to undertake further study.

Key responsibilities and duties

Strategy, modelling and leadership

• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive financial strategy supporting the organisation’s wider strategic plan.
• Provide guidance and leadership on short and long-term financial decisions.
• Develop and monitor the implementation of long-range financial plans with the CEO, Board of Trustees and the Finance and Investment committee, to support organisational sustainability and growth.
• Provide leadership (including line management of at least one member of staff) to our small but invaluable finance and operations team comprising our finance and operations manager, finance assistant, and our office and IT coordinator.

Financial and Operational Management

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organisation’s mission, vision and priorities.
• Streamline and optimise operational processes and systems to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability while availing technological advancement. This includes systems, IT, CRM, Facilities and supplier management.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO, the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees.
• Monitor financial performance, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions.
• Optimise and manage the Trust’s working capital and cash flow position.
• Maintain appropriate financial records and oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual reports and financial statements in accordance with UK accounting standards, Charity Commission and company law requirements.
• Ensure necessary insurances and contracts are in place and provide required liability and other coverages.
• Develop and manage strong and effective relationships with external auditors, the bank, the treasurer, and other key partners.
• Hold responsibility for all tax matters and compliance with HMRC requirements.

Resources, Risk Management and Compliance

• Overall leadership and accountability for IT, Digital and Business Systems infrastructure, including appropriate data protection requirements.
• Oversight of property matters for the team office, including responsibility for lease, insurance and legal matters.
• Overall leadership for the development and implementation of the risk matrix framework.

The Role

As our Head of Finance, you will actively lead on the management of all aspects of the finance function to include;

· The production of interim and annual financial statements that comply with the requirements of the Charities SORP (FRS 102).

At Ambitious about Autism, we're currently looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our team.

You'll be responsible for the Business Partnering of some strategically important areas across the Group, supporting them to deliver their financial targets by developing trusted relationships and working alongside ELT members and budget holders to produce their finance model, annual budget and termly forecasts.

You'll influence and negotiate with senior colleagues and provide technical and strategic insight to ensure AaA reaches its financial targets. MLC are partnering with a well-known Charity in central London to recruit a Finance Business Partner on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a full-time position, 2days/week in the office, and commences immediately.

The role

This position plays a crucial role within the Charity, working closely with directorates and teams to understand their financial positioning and identify both opportunities and challenges. Responsibilities include:

• Monthly management accounts and month end reports
• Understanding the long-term goals of the Fundraising team, managing financial risks/uncertainty
• Engaging in the comprehensive design, development, and continuous maintenance of intricate financial models to facilitate strategic decision-making and ensure accuracy in financial forecasting
• Working with the Head of Financial Accounting and Processing and the Financial Accountant to prepare the Statutory Accounts and liaise with auditors as required

• To lead the development and automation of regular financial planning cycles, including quarterly forecasting and to support the Deputy Director of Finance in the development and implementation of the 5-year planning process.

The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (NWROCU) tackles serious organised crime across the North West region. The NWROCU carries out investigations into serious and organised crime on behalf of police forces in Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside and North Wales. The lead force for NWROCU is Merseyside Police, with the Assistant Chief Constable of NWROCU reporting into Chief Constable Serena Kennedy.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Finance Business Partner as a fully qualified accountant to provide pro-active professionally qualified support and guidance to budget holders for the financial management of the ROCU. This is an amazing opportunity to work for a regional unit, building close relationships across 6 Regional Forces, Home Office and the ROCU Network. As Merseyside Police are the Lead Force for the collaboration; the NWROCU follow lead force Financial Regulations and the successful post holder will build close working relationships with the Merseyside Finance Department.

Job Description

As a Senior Finance Business Partner you will provide pro-active professionally qualified support and guidance to budget holders for the financial management of the ROCU. Assist the Head of Enabling Services in the provision of a professional financial planning, management and accounting service, maintaining the integrity of NWROCU's financial records, and developing new systems and processes to comply with legislation, with a clear focus on ensuring best use of resources based on sound and demonstrable financial reasoning.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with budget holders and senior managers, ensuring that needs of the budget holder are fully satisfied, and SLA's adhered to.
• Responsible for monitoring and reporting upon the financial position of units to relevant stakeholders using appropriate means of communication and methods of financial analysis to ensure an effective and efficient budget management service is provided. This will include attendance at key SLT/Command Team meetings as the finance expert.
• Provision of professional challenge, support and advice to budget holders over a wider range of subjects, with a clear focus on obtaining best value, and best use of resources for the Force. Ensuring compliance with financial regulations
• Review and monitor expenditure on supplies and services; and produce recommendations for improved efficiencies where appropriate for effective financial management of the NWROCU budget.
• Provide assistance with the preparation of the capital programme in order to determine the capital financing requirement of the NWROCU.
• Maintain the asset register and capital accounting records ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
• Provide technical input in the development of budget monitoring to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and to meet specific requirements of the NWROCU.
• Complete statutory returns and grant claims; prepare appropriate working papers to ensure the maintenance of financial accounts.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will:

• Be a Fully qualified CCAB Accountant.
• Have experience of working within a large and complex financial environment; with specific knowledge and experience of fulfilling a budget management role.
• Have advanced communication skills to deal effectively with a variety of potential stakeholders. This includes the ability to challenge devolved budget managers, and budget holders, present and disseminate financial information effectively to nonfinancial officers, and to present both verbal and written reports to Chief Officers and other stakeholders.
• Well-developed analytical skills, and the ability to pro-actively respond to financial issues as they arise.
