The Diocesan Safeguarding Team supports parishes and senior clergy to safeguard children and adults who may be at risk of abuse and neglect, and those in abusive relationships.

As a vital part of the safeguarding team, the Training Administrator supports the department through a variety of tasks from the booking and administration of safeguarding training courses run by the Diocese and content management for the training webpages through to the maintenance of the personal safeguarding training record database.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

Training

• In conjunction with the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser, facilitate a safeguarding learning and development programme for the diocese aligned with the national church Learning and Development Framework, Church Safeguarding Standards, reflecting the specific safeguarding responsibilities of those in role.
• To administer all lay and clergy safeguarding training run by the Diocese in line with above, in approximately 80 sessions a year.  This includes: producing a deadlines document; administers the sessions on Zoom / Teams, posting courses on Eventbrite and operating as content manager for publicity on the Diocesan website.
• To administer bookings for training courses; copy course materials and respond to emails and queries on training matters, ensure compliance of work submission required before and after courses. 
• Log entry of all course participants onto a database to ensure each person has a personal safeguarding training record, and each parish has a safeguarding training profile.

General Administrative 

• Work with IT and Information and Data Manager position to produce reports for the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser on safeguarding training issues and trends, and annual statistics represented in charts and graphs for inclusion in the annual safeguarding review. 
• Produce quarterly reports on training compliance for Archdeacons and the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel meetings. 
• Helping to organise and minute meetings when the safeguarding administrator is not available/on leave.
• Support the safeguarding team with other tasks and projects as identified by the Safeguarding Administrator or Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser.

The purpose of the Finance Department is to support the rest of Dogs Trust in achieving the strategic aims of the charity. Situated in the Programmes, Policy & Impact Directorate, and reporting into the Head of UK Programmes, the Programme Lead, Carer Poverty Alleviation is a new role linked to the development of a new major programme operating in England, Scotland, and Wales. ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit to join the wider Compliance, Audit and Risk team at SIG! You will have the overall responsibility of keeping participants, residents, and staff safe. The team manages the development, monitoring, and reporting of several areas including but not limited to accidents, incidents, and near misses (AINMs), safety reviews, safeguarding, whistleblowing, complaints, policy and procedure, health and safety, internal audit, business continuity planning and data protection.

As The Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit, you are the lynchpin of the wider team, linking strategic vision with solid and accountable implementation. You will be responsible for developing the team in the broad space of compliance as well as in their own areas of specialism, ensuring that a transparent and accountable compliance framework is implemented and embedded in line with regulatory and legislative change.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. At least 2 days per week in central office (Islington) and our services which are in and around London, Brighton & Hove, Kent, Havering, Bedford, Luton, Nottingham, and Liverpool.
The additional 3 days can be worked from home. You may at times be required to visit a service more than 2 times within a week.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Line Management and leadership throughout employee lifecycle this includes; Recruitment, Onboarding, Inductions, training, support and supervision, relations, wellbeing support, and other areas.
• Formalise Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) to monitor objectives.
• Provide both line management and professional consulting using best available forums and mechanisms, including meetings, support effective teamwork and communication. • Deputise for the Director as required.

Safeguarding, Audit, and Compliance

• Oversee the compliance audits across departments and services, providing support, and follow up with operational teams on a regular basis.
• Oversee the Safeguarding infrastructure, deputising for the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) as necessary. Oversee complaints and other processes and develop these to ensure they are safe, fair, equitable, and fit for purpose.
• Support services with commissioner led quality assurance framework (QAF) inspections and those registered with the CQC to maintain their portfolios and ensure they are ready for inspection at any time to retain their registrations.
• Promote and support a positive whistleblowing culture, assist Champions, People and Culture, managers and the audit and compliance team on concerns raised and ensuring the whistleblower is protected.

Reporting and Analysis

• Attend and develop AINMs review meetings for maximum impact in terms of positive safety culture. Ensure the lessons learned from AINMs reviews, safety reviews, and safeguarding concerns are shared and feedback loops are closed.
• Review the collation and analysis of AINMs and Safeguarding alerts, developing the Audit and Compliance team, as well as other operational teams in reflection and root cause analysis

Data Protection

• Monitor the use of external data protection and compliance partners to ensure we maintain ICO requirements and maintain our Data Security Protection Toolkit Certification.
• Monitor and ensure integrity in document control, policy, and procedures as they are developed, reviewed, and published.
• Understand and support an Information Security infrastructure alongside additional teams in the organisation and support Managers and teams with training and challenges where necessary.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. Please refer to JDPS attached for more info

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in complaints and incident handling, safeguarding, data protection, and audits
• Proven experience in governance systems and structures which can include auditing, risk management, investigations, complaint handling, policy, procedure, and report writing
• Experience and/or ability to coach, develop, and manage direct reports
• Background in health, social care, criminal justice, and/or supported housing systems
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, and ability to confidently use and utilise Microsoft programs
• Adequate understanding of the importance and mechanics of document control and writing policy and procedure
• Working knowledge of health and safety processes and procedures
• Ability to write reports in a clear, readable format

· Financial Guidance: Provide expert advice and guidance to older residents on financial matters, including budgeting, debt management, banking, and money-saving strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning and Organisational Leadership

• Lead the development and implementation of Girls Not Brides’ people and culture strategies to deliver on the vision, mission and goals set out in the Secretariat and Partnership strategies, 2022-2025.

We're the charity who look after and bring to life 2,000 miles of waterways across England and Wales, because we believe that life is better by water. Every role across the Trust plays its part in transforming our canals and rivers into spaces where local people want to spend time and feel better, bringing wellbeing benefits to millions.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Ecologist to join our Environment and Climate action team within the S&I Directorate and is responsible for delivering the Trust’s strategy and policy on all environment and climate related sustainability issues, including environmental compliance as a minimum, improvement of our protected sites and achieving a net gain in biodiversity across our canal network.

The Ecologist will be responsible for providing professional technical input into the Trust’s strategic activities around nature recovery. This includes collecting and analysing information and data to support a long-term action plan to move more of our protected sites towards favourable condition and support projects that increase biodiversity and the abundance of protected species across the network.

The Canal & River Trust is in an ideal position, as a large landowner with blue and green corridors connecting habitats across the landscape, to carry out environmental enhancements using our local volunteer workforce to ensure that we improve habitats and support biodiversity. Planting the right trees in the right places, reconnecting old hedgerows and restoring or creating wildflower meadows and linear species-rich grasslands to provide a safe haven for wildlife and a destination for people to retreat to from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Reconnecting people with the nature on their doorstep and offering them opportunities to get involved in looking after ‘their patch’ through guided walks and talks.

Our aim is to support the work of the Trust as a whole, while conserving and enhancing the environment of the inland waterway network. Finding simple and innovative solutions/methods of work to ensure that the modern-day use of the waterways, their historical importance, the Trust’s legal obligations and strategic priorities are met through sustainable development, conservation and enhancement of the natural environment.

Location

The role will be based working from home, with the expectation to attend main regional hubs either at Milton Keynes, Birmingham, or Little Venice (Paddington), for collaborative working. This is a national role, requiring collaboration with teams in all six of the Trust’s regions. There will be an expectation that the successful candidate will be able travel to attend meetings or fieldwork throughout the regional waterway network.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

Key accountabilities:

• Provide ecological technical advice as requested. This includes input into Trust EMS standards and tools and nature recovery projects.
• Contribute to the Trust’s Nature Recovery Strategy and associated sustainability initiatives, with a view to increasing biodiversity across the Trust’s network
• Contribute to national programmes of engagement with customers, volunteers, stakeholders and the general public to promote the value of waterways and the work of the Trust to increase the Trust’s reputation and influence and secure additional resources for our work, focusing on our key sustainability priorities.
• Work with regional ecology teams to implement relevant inspection/monitoring and maintenance programmes for environmental/soft estate assets within their geographical remit, (re-)prioritising work to suit available resources and within delegated authority levels.
• Contribute to the implementation of an environmental management system (EMS; including associated processes & standards) especially with responsibility for monitoring national uptake
• Collaboration with regional teams to maintain ecology and nature recovery performance data (e.g. GIS layers, ecological baseline and species location data)
• Assist in the development of environmental training & competency
• Contribute to corporate targets on raising public awareness of and support for the Trust especially through interest in our environmental assets.
• Contribute to external engagement and fundraising nationally to secure additional resources for the Trust, especially through interest in our environmental assets
