Key Responsibilities of this role

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• To work as part of a diverse and experienced team providing personalised support, advice and advocacy to people living independently or in supported accomodation.
• To apply a collegiate approach to deliver strengths based support that maximises independence, knowledge and confidence of those using our services.
• To provide a key point of reference for information and support to those using the services and professionals and carers dependent on it.
• To work independently across the boroughs we operate in, with people in their homes or in accessing support and resources across the community.

As a Centre Leader, you will have responsibility for setting up, launching and running your IntoUniversity centre, including managing your team, planning and delivering the programme, liaising with external stakeholders and meeting IntoUniversity’s targets for delivery. However, a substantial element of this role is delivering our education programme to children and young people aged 7-18, so you will need to have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with young people, including leading a class of 30 from the front, working with small teams of children and providing one-to-one support.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

Strategy, vision and impact [25%]

• Be at the forefront of leading Resurgo’s ‘big picture’ vision of a transformed society, empowering churches to transform young lives
• Build and implement a strategy for developing relationships with local referral agencies to ensure effective recruitment of young people onto the Spear programme
• Oversee the reporting of the Centre outcomes and ensure the Spear Programme is delivered in line with agreed targets

Leadership, line management and training [25%]

• Lead your team with confidence; spurring them on in Resurgo’s mission; invest in a team culture of excellence, belonging and fun
• Manage and develop the Lead Coach and Graduate Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development. This includes weekly 1:1s, performance reviews and regular feedback
• Equip your team to drive change through a data informed approach, and keep them accountable to agreed targets for the Spear Programme

Relationship management [20%]

• Manage great relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, donors, and your Board of Trustees
• Embed into your local church; working closely with your Spear Trustees and congregation, and actively participating in their mission and events
• Partner with the Spear Trustees and assist in implementing their funding strategy by helping to build corporate and donor relationships. For example, by hosting prospective donors in the Training Room

Delivery of the Spear Programme [20%]

• Support group and 1-1 coaching with numerous 16-24-year-olds: equipping them with practical work-ready skills and resilient mindsets
• Provide guidance to the Lead Coach in the training room when dealing with behavioural and safeguarding situations and upskill coaches with consistent coaching feedback
• Use a coaching approach to engage young people in challenging conversations that will enable them to take responsibility and over significant barriers to employment

Operations [10%]

• Liaise with relevant staff regarding site operations and work to resolve any issues as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training room are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies

Key Responsibilities

Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics.

Relationship management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre

Church Community

• The Spear Coach is directly employed by Preston Minster, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
• Help to raise the profile of the Spear programme within Preston Minster and build a network of supporters and volunteers from the congregation
• Other ad hoc church responsibilities from time to time

Centre operations

• Support the wider Spear team and senior leadership team in developing the financial sustainability of Spear Preston e.g. gathering data for funding applications, organising community fundraising events.
• Work with relevant members of the ministry team, particularly youth and student ministries to further embed Spear into the life of the church.

We are looking for a Team Leader in our London and South East Region to lead a team of Support and Outreach Workers to recruit and train vendors, support them to increase their income through selling the Big Issue magazine and ensure that they have the right skills and community connections to achieve their wider aspirations.

Here at the Big Issue Group we launched the Community Interest Company (CIC) to widen the support package we offer to our vendors and people in poverty. This is enabling us to provide not just sales support for our vendors selling the magazine but also outreach services such as wellbeing, financial, mental health and employment support.

Taking a leading role in our belief of a hand up, not a handout you will positively promote The Big Issue in your local area. You will lead on building networks and partnerships to support the work of the Big Issue and build opportunities for the people we support. • Further develop understanding of what activities, support and opportunities people in Aberfeldy see as important for their health and wellbeing.
• Further develop the ABL service to ensure it responds to what matters to the local community, working with members of the community to co-design, develop, deliver, commission and review resident-led activities and initiatives both in the ABL space and other local community venues.
• Develop the ABL space to be a place that fully lives up to the ambition of it being somewhere for people to go and feel welcome and comfortable, a space to which people will want to return and be a part of – a space for the community.
• Motivate, inspire, and lead the ABL team, volunteers, and sessional workers to deliver the service.
• Expand the reach of ABL and ensure members of the local community are aware of it, what’s its purpose is and what it offers.
