The Programme Manager role
Due to the expansion of our programmes we are seeking a new team member to support our next year of growth and delivery.
You will be managing and developing skills and employability programmes designed in partnership with industry. With support, from your team and colleagues, you will ensure TTF educational programmes are successfully delivered from conception to evaluation. You will work collaboratively with our corporate and industry partners to support teachers and students in schools and further education institutions.

Hybrid working

Purpose of role
To manage the annual programme of the PPA psychoanalytic psychotherapy qualifying training and the Advanced Clinical Course. To promote and grow the trainings. To manage the budget and collect and report on performance management data. To track all trainees’ progress, to ensure the smooth running of all elements of the teaching provision and to liaise and work in collaboration with the PPA training committee (TC), curriculum committee (CC), selection committee (SC) and post graduate committee (PGC).
Accountable to
The post will be line managed by the office manager will be accountable to and work in close collaboration with the committees of the PPA.
Key responsibilities
1) To oversee and manage the delivery of the annual programme of the PPA trainings in collaboration with the TC and PGC.
a) Booking clinical, theory and group seminar leaders in collaboration with TC and PGC.
b) In liaison with the Director of Marketing, Communications and Engagement place adverts for supervisors, teachers, and group leaders as appropriate.
c) Ensure that trainees and TC have an up-to-date list of Training Analysts, Training Supervisors and Approved Therapists
d) Room booking for all aspects of the programme.
e) Annual review, update and production of handbooks and all written materials for course.
f) Collaboration with the library to track reading list production.
g) To be the first point of contact in cases of emergency.
h) To collect, collate and report on trainee feedback.
2) To oversee the annual trainee selection for the trainings.
a) To be the first point of contact for potential applicants, giving out appropriate information about the trainings and passing appropriate inquiries onto the training advisors.
b) To liaise with interviewers and arrange trainee selection interviews.
c) To attend selection week/day process.
d) Collate information on the number of applicants and successful candidates and report to TC.
3) To support the TC in the monitoring and management of trainees’ progress throughout their training.
a) To record which tutors have been assigned to trainees in collaboration with training committee.
b) To receive monthly updates from training tutors, collate and report to TC as required.
c) To manage collection and evaluation of all feedback from trainees and seminar leaders and send as appropriate to the training committee.
d) To find readers and markers for final clinical papers and arrange dates for reading ins.
4) To promote and grow the trainings.
a) In collaboration with the Director of Marketing, Comms & Engagement to develop and implement a marketing plan for PPA trainings.
b) To work with the Events Officer to promote the trainings at bpf open days.
c) To liaise with the PPA newsletter editor to ensure the production and circulation of the newsletter and to communicate with the Membership Officer about any PPA items for the bpf newsletter.
d) Ensure consistent messaging about PPA trainings across internal and external communications.
e) To have oversight of the cycle of reaccreditation with the BPC.
5) To ensure effective administrative and financial management of PPA trainings.
a) To take lead on ensuring all communication with trainees is up to date including collection of fees, sending out handbooks, curriculums, all training materials, and dates.
b) To work with the Director of Corporate Services to oversee and maintain budgetary control of both trainings.
c) To work with the Director of Corporate Services to provide management reporting data.
d) To collect and report on data collection of protected characteristics.
e) To provide budget updates to the training committee.
f) To recommend and implement improvements to PPA training admin systems and processes.
g) To manage all payments from trainees and to teaching staff.
6) To work with all PPA committees to maintain the functioning and growth of the PPA association.
a) To attend TC meetings, PGC meetings, bpf Heads of Trainings meetings and any other meetings to ensure the smooth running of the committees and clear communication between committee members.
b) Organise and oversee the termly PPA reading group and other social events in collaboration with the Events Officer.
c) Encourage and grow PPA members’ events in collaboration with the Membership and Engagement Officer.
7) General
a) Any other activities deemed appropriate by the CEO and Office Manager.
b) Supporting office colleagues with other trainings when necessary.
c) Working collaboratively with the whole bpf staff to ensure the smooth running of all bpf training and membership activities.

Background
Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3000 children in 2023-24.
Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.
From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary
Chapter One is seeking a West Cumbria Programme Manager who is an excellent communicator and is able to both motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year.
The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently around West Cumbria. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.
Key Responsibilities:
• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers
• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms
• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others
• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up
• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom
• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles
• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed
• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise
• Analyse and manipulate data (largely in Google sheets) to produce reports and identify trends
• Create monthly data summaries for all participating classrooms
• Lead annual review meetings for senior leadership at participating schools
• Support programme monitoring, evaluation and research as required
• Coordinate in person and virtual school ‘visits’ of volunteer teams to classrooms where necessary
• Liaison with corporate partners as required
• Weekly communication and status updates with Senior Programme Manager(s) and wider team
• As a new school year approaches, secure commitments from returning schools and find and target new schools to join Chapter One’s programme

Taking them from beginner to qualified snowsports instructors in just one year with volunteering and apprenticeship progression routes available at the end. Programme Manager role
We are now looking for an enthusiastic and committed Programme Manager(s) to join our existing Programme Team in September 2024 on a full or part-time basis (6-month fixed-term with potential to extend). As a Programme Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Yes Futures programmes in-person, in our partner primary and secondary schools in North London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire & Buckinghamshire.
Main Responsibilities
You will be one of a small team of Programme Managers, dedicated to delivering excellent programmes which make a positive difference to the lives of students. The main responsibilities of the Programme Manager role are:
Programme delivery
- Responsible for the care and wellbeing of all students in your schools on the programme;
- Communicating with parents where necessary during the programme, by email, letter and telephone;
- Planning and delivering whole-group workshops for students;
- Planning and delivering information and celebration events for students and parents;
- Facilitating the in-person and online volunteer coaching team to deliver student coaching sessions. As well as delivering coaching sessions to students, where required;
- Developing business and charity partnerships for day trips;
- Planning and delivering the day trips included in the programme;
- Supporting the planning and delivery of the Into the Wild and World of Work day trips;
- Implementing discipline procedures, including reporting serious discipline issues;
- Implementing all necessary Health and Safety and Child Protection procedures, including recording and reporting any incidents;
- Ongoing communication with the school and Yes Futures head office regarding student engagement and progress.
Organisation and administration
- School onboarding, including ensuring that dates are planned, students are recruited and parental agreements are returned;
- Planning and organising the logistical elements of the programme (timetables, activities, sessions plans etc) through liaising with Yes Futures head office, school staff, businesses, charitable organisations and the rest of the Coaching team;
- Creation of Risk Assessments, parent letters and programme-related documents for schools;
- Sourcing materials needed for programme sessions, including lunches for trips;
- Assisting with finance and petty cash where required.
Management of volunteer Yes Futures Coaches
- Managing and developing the skills of your Coaching teams (usually 2-6 adults per school);
- Ongoing communication with your Coaching teams, to foster their enthusiasm and commitment;
- Supporting Coach recruitment for future programmes;
- Supporting the planning and delivery of training for Coaches;
- Maintaining accurate and secure records of Coaches’ personal information, absences, sickness and other relevant information.
Evaluation and reporting
- Facilitating the pre-, mid- and end of programme evaluations;
- Oversight and input of key student monitoring data and impact data;
- Debriefing and ongoing feedback collection from schools and Coaches;
- Ensure all work is carried out in an effective and timely manner to support continued high standards of the Yes Futures programmes.
Programme Managers will also be given the opportunity to support with other Head Office functions, including but not limited to:
- Strengthening our strategy, programme design and theory of change;
- Supporting the marketing of Yes Futures to new schools and customers;
- Developing our fundraising strategy through bid writing and other fundraising tasks;
- Establishing relationships with key partner organisations;
- Planning our future Ambassador offer and other pilot programmes.

We achieve our objective through three programmes:

1:1 Mentoring: a four month programme offering 1:1 mentoring, networking opportunities, skills workshops, and practical support. The programme connects refugee women with mentors in a unique mutual mentoring programme that supports both mentors and mentees to learn and grow from each other. We provide training for mentors to ensure that the support they provide mentees is high quality, and to offer a learning experience for them too. For mentees, the mentoring is supplemented by workshops covering topics like self advocacy and public speaking, wrap-around support, check-in calls, casework, and access to a comprehensive resource database.

Research: Routes is conducting research into how to create systemic change for women refugees facing unemployment in London. This includes looking into apprenticeship schemes, funded training programmes and business partnerships to create employment pathways. The outcomes of this research will feed into Routes’ wider work as the findings develop.

We are currently a team of five, who all work part time (mix of three and four days a week). We are motivated by investing in people and potential; we don’t just accept things as they are and are always open to learning how to make things better. We invest in our own development and growth, through strengths coaching sessions, and training opportunities.
We have flexible working and aim to establish working patterns that suit everyone; it’s important to us that everyone feels able to thrive in the team. Working from the office is a requirement of this role, but we all work hybrid so there is the option to work from home some of the week if you would like to.
About the programmes you’ll manage
Mentoring Programme
The Routes Mentoring Programme has been running since 2018. We run currently two Mentoring Programmes a year, supporting 60 mentees, and we pride ourselves in delivering this programme in a way that centres autonomy, care, and learning and development.
You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of the mentoring programme for our mentees and mentors. Routes mentees are women from refugee and asylum seeking backgrounds with goals to do with their personal and professional development. You will take the lead in managing their journey through the programme from recruitment, matching, onboarding, programme events, support throughout the programme, offboarding, and impact measurement.
Routes Mentoring Programmes are designed to create relationships that are supportive, equal and empowering. We take care to fully understand each person’s goals and aspirations, so that we find them a mentor who can support on their goals. We know that a one-size-fits-all approach does not work, which is why the 1:1 support of a mentor can be so transformative.
Routes mentors are women from our partner organisations across sectors. We provide extensive training in coaching and mentoring tools and techniques that they can use for their mentoring and beyond in their professional lives, ensuring that the programme is a learning opportunity for them too. The learning on our Mentoring Programme focuses on inclusive leadership, and may be useful in other 1:1 relationships, including line management, work with colleagues and other personal and professional contexts. We are looking for a Senior Programme Management Specialist to join our Development Programmes Unit (DPU), the hub for impactful long-term development programming in Plan International UK. The role will look after our Young Health Programme (YHP), which is Plan International UK’s largest corporate funded programme. The YHP is a complex multi-country multi-million public health programme and is currently implemented in 8 countries, supporting the health rights and wellbeing of young people (10-24) in marginalised communities with a specific focus on the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). This gender-transformative programme uses a range of strategies including youth empowerment through peer education, community mobilisation, health system strengthening and youth-led advocacy. The YHP takes a holistic approach to working with young people which means that Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and emotional well-being health are addressed and mainstreamed throughout the programme.
This role is a great opportunity for individuals with proven programme management experience, particularly in public health initiatives. As a Senior Programme Management Specialist, you will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of two programme specialists and a programme coordinator to provide specialist support to Country Offices and partners on programme management. You will have responsibility from project design to project closure while also managing and escalating risks.
Your role will be essential in ensuring clear communication, compliance, and problem-solving within the team as well as with external partners.
