The LSO Development department is looking for a knowledgeable and self-motivated individual to join our team as Trusts & Foundations Officer at an exciting time in the LSO’s history. Reporting to the Trusts & Foundations Manager, the role will primarily work within the Trusts and Foundations team to establish and maintain relationships with grant-giving bodies to help meet and grow income targets. These grants support a range of LSO activities, including projects within our pioneering learning and engagement programme, LSO Discovery; our exciting artistic season at the Barbican Centre; international tours; new commissions for the LSO and recordings produced by our record label LSO Live.
About you
Experience in fundraising from trusts, foundations and other grant-giving bodies is essential for this role, alongside strong communication skills, high attention to detail and a passion for creating concise and compelling written copy. An interest in orchestral/classical music is desirable.
The Trusts & Foundations Officer will also support the wider fundraising of the Department, helping to steward current and potential supporters at concerts, special events, and LSO Discovery projects taking place across east London.

We are looking for someone with demonstrable experience in:
· Writing compelling applications and reports to grant-giving bodies, as well as knowledge of fundraising through trusts and foundations (at least twelve months of experience).
· Researching potential new funding opportunities with an understanding of cultivation and stewardship processes
· Ideally relevant some event management experience.

About the role
We are seeking an experienced individual to lead our volunteer development activity. Working closely with
the Fundraising, Delivery and Marketing teams, this is a varied role working with alumni and employee
volunteers to support activities in our member schools.
You will lead on the development of our volunteer community which is managed online through the Future
First Hub, and be responsible for developing and delivering a programme of activities that nurture

You will be joining our Philanthropy Team that's responsible for managing relationships with, and securing donations from, mid and major value individuals and trusts & foundations. Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) is a senior volunteer led industry initiative which has raised an incredible £9million to date. We have ambitious plans to reach an initial £10million target within the next 12-months and to take the campaign into a second phase to achieve further impact.
Since the campaign launched in September 2017, we have seen significant success, raising awareness of dementia and the profile of Alzheimer’s Society and IUAD across the industry through corporate partnerships, philanthropy, industry events and owned activities.
We are looking for an individual who matches the ambition of the team and our industry supporter, someone with a personable style that can take ownership of the events fundraising stream and communication plans for the IUAD campaign.
The post holder offers unique opportunities to take responsibility for key initiatives, such as our flagship fundraising event, the Insurance Day for Dementia. As our Fundraising Compliance Manager, you will be the focal point for compliance, providing guidance and advice to colleagues ensuring that we have sufficient controls and processes in place across all areas of fundraising. In addition, you will provide comprehensive front line and administrative support, to facilitate best practice across Fundraising/Charity regulation and the General Data Protection Regulation and help embed this in our ways of working. You will produce and deliver training and supporting documents to upskill staff and to ensure consistency across the team, as well as identifying areas for improvement and development. You will keep your knowledge up-to-date and will be confident in communicating with staff at all levels and with varying levels of understanding; in an engaging and accessible manner.
Excellent organisation and project management skills will be required to ensure that projects and the day-to-day delivery and reporting of compliance is on track.
Key Responsibilities
Overarching responsibilities
- To oversee and be the main port of call for all compliance, data protection and gift administration queries in respect of fundraising.
- To develop and maintain robust operational frameworks, processes, systems and governance structures for compliance and gift administration that instil confidence and assurance in our fundraising operations and our ability to fulfil our contractual obligations as data processors and controllers.

- Recognise that a change in procedure or legislation external to the Foundation has implications and who needs to be notified of the changes.

Suggest and negotiate amendments, and if the necessary compliance clauses cannot be met then decline authorisation to work with that third party.

The Development team is responsible for securing significant revenue income from a variety of public, private and commercial funding sources to support the ambitions of Southbank Centre, in close collaboration with all internal departments and external partners. Our Fundraising Team is formed of several fundraising strands, an established grants programme, a digital fundraising stream raising income from the public, and a philanthropy team working with individuals. We are seeking a Senior Fundraising Officer to join us to support our exciting fundraising initiatives.
What you’ll do (key responsibilities)
Reporting to the Senior Fundraising Manager, you will be instrumental in supporting our Fundraising team across; Trusts & Foundations, Major Donors and Individual Giving.
In assisting with the coordination of the fundraising portfolio, the main responsibilities of the role will include:
- Leading on the delivery of 2 x Individual Giving appeals per year (Big Give);
- Leading on our Gift Aid management for all donors;
- Monitoring our team inbox, online and postal donations and ensuring a high level of donor care is maintained, including thanking and being the first point of contact for individual donor enquiries;
- Maintaining up-to-date supporter records on our database and identifying opportunities to improve processes for tracking relationships and capturing data on our progress;
- Prospect Research for trusts, foundations, statutory funders, as well as major donors identified by the team;
- Acting as the Relationship Manager for a small pipeline of Trust and Foundations;
- Assisting in the planning, administration and delivery of fundraising and stewardship events;
- Assisting in regular reporting and updates to both staff and funders;
- Working with our Finance team to track donation payments, process invoices etc;
- Supporting the Senior Fundraising Manager and the Communications team in the online planning, administration and analysis of Individual Giving Programmes;
- Supporting with copywriting and pulling information together to share with funders;
- Support with management of donation platforms;
- Other ad-hoc administrative duties as and when required.

They will lead by example in cultivating both UK based and international trusts and develop relationships with key stakeholders to build out a major donor programme, whilst overseeing an amazing team to continue to deliver brilliant results.
