Job description

Based in Islington, London (office based)

This Receptionist role is a chance to put all your face-to-face, email and telephone communication skills, organisational abilities, team spirit and warm, friendly manner to the best possible use.

Greenpeace UK is an independent national/regional organisation within the global Greenpeace campaigning network, which acts to change attitudes and behaviour, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace. The global network of Greenpeace organisations comprises 26 independent national/regional Greenpeace organisations with presence in over 55 countries across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, as well as a coordinating and supporting organisation, Greenpeace International.

As the first point of contact for members of the public and staff visiting Greenpeace, you’ll be welcoming visitors into the building, ensuring the smooth running of the reception area and responding to a wide variety of supporter and public enquiries, in person, by email and by phone.

You’ll also use our systems to answer supporter and staff questions – including writing a range of engaging, clear and well-informed communications – as well as providing administrative assistance to the Facilities and Organisation teams.

What we're looking for:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Lots of self-motivation and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Experience of dealing with members of the public.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with experience of databases, MS Office/Google apps and managing diaries/calendar scheduling.
  • A proactive, flexible and unflappable approach, with the ability to thrive on high volumes of work and to adapt quickly to change.
  • A genuine passion for Greenpeace’s work and a positive and helpful attitude when dealing with enquiries or complaints.

We give you:

You’ll be encouraged to develop both personally and professionally, taking advantage of the wide range of learning and development opportunities available to our staff. We offer great benefits such as a generous pension scheme, subsidised lunches, free yoga and a wealth of well-being resources, just to name a few. Take a look at our Work for Greenpeace pages to find out more about what it’s like to work for us and why you should apply.

Our commitment to diversity: Greenpeace UK is committed to providing equal opportunities for everyone regardless of their background. We acknowledge that people from certain backgrounds are under-represented in environmental and campaigning organisations and we’re committed to doing what we can to correct this. We are particularly keen to receive applications from people of colour; people with disabilities; people who identify as being LGBTQIA; people who have a mental health condition; and people who identify as working class now or in the past.
