We are looking for a development manager with a range of skills and experiences to support other mining charities develop a sustainable future. You will have a background in partnership working and developing funding opportunities, as well as a good understanding of charity governance.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in community and / or business development with a good knowledge of the charity sector.

As Development Manager, you will:

• Support mining charities to develop business plans and budgeting and help them to identify funding opportunities and develop funding proposals.
• Provide secretariat services to mining related regional grant making charities. 
• Contribute to the development of and promote the organisations support offer for other mining charities, seeking new methods of supporting local trustees.
• Support the recruitment and training of local trustees and officers, encouraging good governance
• Develop local partnership working with other voluntary sector organisations, tiers of local government and local communities.
• Ensure the organisation interests and responsibilities in partner charities are retained and fulfilled.
• Represent the organisation with external parties, including, welfare charities, councils and local authorities as required

• Experience of community development and / or business development and an understanding of business planning and budgets

Development Director

Main Purpose and Scope of the Role

The Development Director will be a key part of the Action4Youth Senior Management Team, contributing to strategic development of the whole organisation and taking responsibility for the leadership and management of all aspects of business development, sales, fundraising, marketing and communications.

The Development Director will ensure development to support the Strategic and Operational Plans in order to achieve growth, sustainability and stability and to support the Action4Youth core offer i.e.  programme delivery and outdoor education.

Because Action4Youth is a relatively small organisation, teams are small and this means that even senior members of the team like Directors may have to cover for a team member when on leave or generally help out as necessary to achieve targets. In this particular role, that could mean undertaking basic tasks like completing a funding bid to meet a deadline, updating a webpage, writing blog posts or handling sales calls. This job is unusual in genuinely being both strategic and hands on.

Networking is an important part of this role so the post holder will often be expected to attend out of hours events to represent Action4Youth and to develop valuable relationships and connections.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

Development/Sales

• To identify opportunities for the growth of Action4Youth through sales, contracts or fundraising
• To increase sales of The Caldecotte Xperience
• To increase awareness and sales of The Inspiration Programme, The Breakout Programme and other A4Y programmes and offerings
• To identify and secure appropriate new contracts in line with the strategy and business plan
• To monitor and evaluate business development success

Fundraising

• Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to take account of economic conditions and to meet the needs of Action4Youth.
• To meet fundraising targets for both the fundraising team and personally
• To be responsible for building strong relationships with fundraising bodies and partner agencies.
• To ensure reports to funders meet requirements
• Monitor and evaluate the fundraising mix
• Achieve targets as set out in KPIs

Marketing and Communication

• To be Action4Youth’s brand guardian, protecting and extending the organisation’s reputation and profile
• To initiate and manage a communications and marketing strategy which supports and enhances Action4Youth’s profile, sales and fundraising
• Oversee the development of all communications in line with the strategy including the website, PR, social and print media
• To lead on Action4Youth’s aim to be a voice for and of young people, developing a significant platform in a wide variety of fora.

Leadership

• To be a key part of Action4Youth’s leadership team
• To be responsible for the recruitment, training and appraisal of the development, fundraising and marketing teams

General Responsibilities

•  To attend, where appropriate, local, regional and national meetings
•  Support the continued development of quality standards as specified by Action4Youth.

In the role of Regional Surveyor, you will play a role in helping us continue to deliver on our ambitions, through leading on responsive and planned maintenance service delivery for with supported housing and self-contained accommodation in a designated region. Additional key responsibilities will include:

• Responsibilty for inspections of responsive and complex repairs, damp and mould.
• Supporting the delivery of capital and revenue reinvestment programmes and major projects, including cyclical maintenance programmes, refurbishment of acquired assets, onboarding new buildings, and managing termination dilapidations.
• Build strong relationships with our internal and external clients to deliver a high quality, customer focused service and with our supply chain partners to deliver on time and to budget whilst achieving quality work and value for money.

In this role you will travel to various site locations within our West London Region or our Southwest Regional (Bristol/Oxford/Milton Keynes) on a regular basis. Your office base will be either in LB Kensington & Chelsea (West London Region) or Hounslow (Southwest Region). Occasional travel to our Head Office, near St Katherine’s Dock will also be required. This allows for in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities.

We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations. 

About you

We are looking for a skilled Surveyor with proven experience in management and delivery of responsive repairs, major works projects, and planned reinvestment programmes or cyclical maintenance programmes.

• You may hold an HNC/HND level qualification or higher in Building Surveying (or equivalent qualification) or be able to demonstrate equivalent work experience.
• You will demonstrate the ability to deliver robust contract management that delivers on time and to budget, and your experience of large scale budget management and valuations.
• You may have some experience working in the social housing sector, which is beneficial but not essential.
• A full UK or equivalent driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.

As an Assistant Community Shop Manager (ACSM) for St Giles Hospice you will support in leading a team of volunteers. You’ll be empowered to make decisions locally whilst working within a supportive framework. You’ll have good customer service skills and want to be part of a successful team. Ideally, you’ll have previous retail experience with the ability to manage and lead the store in the absence of the Community Shop Manager (CSM).

Fauna & Flora is seeking a highly experienced professional to manage it’s fundraising from a portfolio of statutory (government and multilateral) donors, such as Defra, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service etc.

You will support colleagues and partners to develop high-quality proposal packages for priority donors, and ensure their timely submission. You will coordinate proposals and reporting internally, and ensure all documents produced for donors meet their criteria, as well as follow Fauna & Flora approval and submission procedures. There is a strong capacity development element to this work, and you will share knowledge, learning and resources across Fauna & Flora to maximise success rate and promote best practice in grant management and donor stewardship. You may also develop and deliver training packages, in Cambridge and potentially overseas. You will monitor Fauna & Flora’s activities in statutory fundraising and fund management within your portfolio, and support internal decision-making and strategy development by sharing this learning.

Experience of working with government funding sources, be they bilateral and/or multilateral, is essential for this role. You will have proven experience of securing restricted funding from government sources, and a strong understanding of how statutory donors and funding programmes support the achievement of international targets and government priorities. Knowledge of and experience in biodiversity conservation, the development sector, and/or climate is an asset; a commitment to learning and supporting these sectors is essential. You may have worked in the non-profit sector, such as international development, or have a background in bid management, proposal development, and grant fundraising.

Strong relationship-management and communications skills are essential to the role, to develop positive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regional teams, non-governmental partners, and government agencies. You will be diplomatic and persuasive, and your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to coordinate people and processes to meet timelines. You will be a strong team player and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where the ability to respond swiftly to changing organisational and team needs is paramount. With a proactive and pre-emptive approach to your work, you will seek to add value and work with minimal supervision.

About the role

The Regional Communications Officer role is an exciting, varied position working with Emmaus communities located in the South East region of the UK to increase their profile and engage supporters.

You will work closely with the Emmaus communities in your patch to identify their communications needs and plan and deliver a mix of work to help achieve their goals. As part of a wider team, you will also share ideas and draw on each other’s experiences to maximise PR, digital and communications opportunities.

A typical working week within this role can include:

· A weekly meeting with other Regional Communications Officers to catch up and share ideas and work of interest

· A visit to an Emmaus community to conduct interviews and capture photography and video

· Writing and sending press releases

· Scheduling social media content

· Creating graphics and marketing materials using Canva

· Updating community websites using WordPress

This is a part time position working four days per week (30 hours), Monday to Friday.

Within this role, you can be based at home or in an Emmaus community. Wherever you are based, maintaining positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders is vitally important.  The current patch for this role is Emmaus Brighton & Hove, Emmaus Greenwich and Emmaus Dover. Regular travel to these three communities will be required (usually one community visit per week). Travel to team meetings, usually held in Birmingham, and other locations will also be required on occasion.

Who are we looking for?

We require someone with a strong skillset and at least two years’ experience working in a busy communications, public relations or marketing role. Although not essential, knowledge and understanding of homelessness and the charity sector would also be an advantage.

Creativity and passion are a must. You will have a broad range of communications skills, love seeing your creative ideas come to life and keen to develop your skillset within a national homelessness charity.

You will also oversee regional relationships, at local authority level or equivalent.

The EPRM role involves being flexible to the needs of the region and your team and to provide regional leadership. Some of the duties include, which is not an exhaustive list

• Deliver and or support the delivery of Young Enterprise programmes and services in schools, colleges, universities, and youth centres
• Work as part of the regional team to proactively identify and generate sources of local income to support YE programmes.

• Work with the local YE Volunteer Team (LVT), providing support, direction and opportunities to engage with local activity, which may include fundraising, volunteering on programmes and / or promoting our programmes to new school
• Work closely with Programmes & Services team to support the development and delivery of our full suite of programmes, while also developing your own knowledge and understanding of our full suite of programmes and services to promote to schools.

Objective:

2wish exists to provide support to anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under.

Aims:

• Ensure every Emergency Department and Critical Care unit has a suitable bereavement suite
• Ensure that bereavement boxes are available at each of these hospitals
• Ensure that immediate bereavement support is available for all affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide a professional counselling service and other therapies for those affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide support to individuals who witness the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide support and training to professionals from any sector who may be affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• To advocate and campaign on behalf of suddenly bereaved families

Context of role:

2wish supports anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. We are a largely self-funded charity providing support across Wales and more recently, in the bordering counties with England. Our support team works very closely with our fundraising team to increase income but also to raise awareness of the work of 2wish.

This is a unique opportunity for two individuals to raise awareness of the charity, building it’s profile and engaging communities across the English counties that border Wales. It will involve helping to organise fundraising events, working with volunteers and encouraging community fundraising opportunities.

Main duties:

• To help raise awareness of 2wish and the work we do in England
• To work alongside the support team in England, Phase I and to build on the reputation of 2wish
• Research, approach and engage community groups and local supporters using mechanisms for engaging their support to develop additional sources of income
• To liaise with the public in England, Phase I who are fundraising for 2wish
• To support the delivery of community and corporate events, and monitor the income raised
• To attend community and networking events where necessary
• To actively participate in and collaborate on financial planning for England, Phase I as a business unit during regular fundraising meetings
• To submit an annual business plan and budgets for the England fundraising team
• To submit monthly and annual reports to the Fundraising Manager as required and work to monthly targets
