The Director will work with our trustees, staff and network of volunteers to formulate local strategy, run local campaigns and liaise with national CPRE.

We are looking for an exceptional individual who can work with and motivate volunteers, take a strategic view on issues affecting Kent’s countryside and represent CPRE at County and National forums and via social, local and national media. The role also involves management of the staff team.

We are looking to fill a full-time post at a salary of circa £55k per annum. However, we would be prepared to consider appointing a 4-day-per-week post at a pro rata salary.

The For Baby’s Sake Trust seeks to appoint a Deputy Director of Operations. The Deputy Director will work with the Director of Operations to lead programme development and delivery across the Trust. Role: The Forces Employment Charity (FEC) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Specialist Employment Consultant to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to facilitate and coordinate employment case-working support for CTP (Assist), Service Leavers (SLs) and Veterans, up to 2 years post-discharge and job role reports to CTP (Assist) Manager. The goal is to assist them in finding appropriate and sustainable civilian employment or other suitable vocational outcomes.

The Role is based at MoD Personnel Recovery Centre (Catterick) / MoD Personnel Recovery Unit (PRU Catterick) and hybrid.

This part-time, permanent position involves a 28-hour work week and offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of Service Leavers (SLs) and Veterans.

Principal Responsibilities:

​

• Deliver specialist vocational case-working support to allocated CTP (Assist) clients in order that they achieve their Preferred Vocational Outcomes (PVOs).
• Provide effective CTP (Assist) case working support using the CTP (Assist) Work instructions and database.
• As a member of the Recovery Units CTP (Assist) casework handling team, work with relevant MoD staff to deliver the employment aspects of CTP (Assist) Individual Recovery Plans (IRPs).
• Act as the CTP (Assist) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to PRU staff and local units, working alongside another SEC.
• Provide career, employment advice and guidance to allocated CTP (Assist) clients in accordance with their IRPs and Vocational Assessment (VA) provided under CTP.
• Coordinate CTP (Assist) client access to training opportunities, supporting their applications for additional training grants as necessary.
• Identify and source suitable Personnel on Recovery Duty (PRD) specific work based training and work experience opportunities within the geographical area in accordance with their IRPs. 
• Ensure all CTP (Assist) employment, training and vocational opportunities sourced are fed into the affiliated regional Employer Relationship Manager (ERM), thus ensuring a joined up and integrated CTP employer engagement approach.
• Delivery/Facilitation of SEC components of Recovery Transition Workshop courses and support CTW+/CRE courses as requested.
• Identify and subsequently engage with Training and Adult Education providers to identify opportunities that meet clients’ requirements in accordance with IRPs.
• As required, provide in work support to ensure client vocational outcomes are sustainable.
• Monitor successful employment placement success for CTP (Assist) clients as a key component of overall outcomes.
• When required and appropriate, work closely with regional teams such as:

•            CTP Regional Resettlement Centre (RRC) & Career Consultants (CCs)

•             Future Horizon Employment Advisor (s)

•             FEC Ex-Forces Employment Advisors (Veterans)

• Maintain accuracy and integrity in all interactions with the CTP BMS, Job site, and the CTP website and tools, ensuring timely recording of all client and employer engagement activity.
• Attend MDT’s and work with wider organisations in order to support the PRD you are working with (when required).
• ​Co-ordinate employment and vocational aspects of the recovery process with other supporting military charities.

Responsibilities:

Research and Analysis

• Research and provide core evidence for key stakeholder; policy submissions and reports, including government consultations and reviews.
• Conduct horizon scanning of external developments in the political and social welfare advice landscape across England, Wales and Scotland, reporting of issues of relevance to AdviceUK staff and members.
• Design and conduct quantitative and qualitative research projects to support AdviceUK's policy and campaigns work.

The Role

The foundation is a registered charity which exists to improve the quality of life of people (children, young people and adults) with severe learning disabilities whose behaviour challenges and the families who support them.

We are currently looking for a Co-production & Engagement Lead to deliver a 3-year project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.  Working closely with a small friendly staff team, and 3 regional family carers (specifically employed for this project), you will be responsible for developing 3 regional networks across England, sharing best practice locally and nationally, linking with the Challenging Behaviour – National Strategy Group, and ensuring co-production and family carer engagement is promoted and embedded as best practice.

You will have up to date and relevant knowledge and/or experience of children’s and/or adult policy and practices (learning disabilities) across health, education and social care and be fully committed to working in co-production and supporting family carers to fully engage as partners in the process to achieve the best outcomes.

A proven project manager, who thinks strategically and has the ability to work with a range of stakeholders across multiple sites, You will need to be highly organised, skilled at project management, knowledgeable about current policy and practices, and a confident communicator adept at influencing a wide range of stakeholders.

The National House Project (NHP) takes a ground-breaking approach through its commitment to young people’s ownership to enable young people leaving care to lead connected and fulfilling lives. The approach was co-designed with young people from the start and works on cooperative and social pedagogical principles through a groupwork approach which is supported by adults and young people in and leaving care working together. Using a psychologically informed relational practice framework young people gain skills, knowledge and the confidence to make their house a home and build a long-term community of support.

NHP supports Local House Projects (LHP) to put young people at the centre of the decision-making processes, challenges staff to work with them in an inclusive way and encourages staff to support young people to find the solutions to the challenges they face. LHP achieve improved outcomes for young people, supports professionals in the ways that they work with young people and enable young people to leave care in a supported and ‘less scary’ way.

To ensure that young people are involved at every level of the organisation, each LHP is represented by 2 young people at regional meetings and from these forums, young people elect their representatives for Care Leavers National Movement. CLNM provides a forum to develop practice, share ideas and find solutions to challenges. The Chair and Vice Chair of CLNM are supported by CLNM Champions and sit on the Board of Trustees as expert advisors.

To support the expansion of the Charity we have increased our strategic capacity by creating the post of Deputy Director and are now recruiting to the practice lead roles. We are looking for someone who is motivated, believes that with the right support care experienced young people can achieve great things and should be at the heart of any decision that affects their future. You will support staff in LHPs to create an environment where young people transition to adulthood in a positive and supported way and hence an understanding of child development, social pedagogical approaches and psychologically informed care are important.  You will also work with the CLNM as well as the core NHP team to ensure that young people continue to drive the approach at both a local and national level.

You will need to have management or supervisory experience of staff working with young people in groupwork settings and an understanding of the care system. You will have a professional/academic qualification in a related field e.g., Youth Work; Social Work; Education, Health, social pedagogy. Current registration with a professional body is desirable. 

You will be based at the NHP office in Crewe, but you will be expected to travel to LHPs and attend meetings across the country on a regular basis.

They will play a leading role in delivering our learning and inclusion work, developing audiences, existing and new, and oversee all The Africa Centre programme activity across the UK, on the African continent and in the wider African Diaspora.

As part of the Senior Leadership team, they will play an important part in driving the vision, mission, and values of The Africa Centre as a world-leading organisation at the forefront of debate, dialogue, and social purpose around our five core pillars of arts & culture, education, community development, entrepreneurship & innovation and thought leadership. Through innovative programme development, they will ensure that the urgent issues faced by people of African descent are reflected and addressed in The Africa Centre’s activity profile. They will ensure that The Africa Centre is a place of fun, connection, education and information, relevant to all people with an interest in Africa and African people.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Strategic Leadership

• Oversee, convene and deliver TAC programmes, developing live and digital content in line with our strategic priorities.
• Fulfil the leadership role of contributing to the development of The Africa Centre’s emerging strategy.
• Lead and convene programme development and content delivery, ensuring commercial, artistic, operational and audience development objectives are met for both live and digital events.
• Draw on audience segmentation, communications and brand strategies to strategically align programme to audience and our income generation objectives.
• Work collegiately with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and deliver The Africa Centre’s Audience Development Strategy linked to the programme and strategic objectives.
• Identify opportunities to apply for funding and contribute to income generation activities related to programming and engagement.
• Lead on developing and delivering high quality experiences for artists and experts across all our activities, ensuring they are supported and nurtured.
• Establish a strategy for identifying, supporting, and nurturing new creative talent.
• Lead on safeguarding, equalities, diversity, inclusion and access across the organisation’s programming.

Programme Leadership

• Deliver world class content to reflect African excellence drawing on the best creative minds and experts across multiple genres – from contemporary arts to literature and fiction; science and history; geo-politics and climate change; equalities and democracy and more.
• Deliver original content that has variety, breadth, and depth, identifying the most appropriate structure for building relationships with partners, commissioning new work, contracting artists, identifying thought leadership opportunities and utilising a wide range of formats – live and digital - to implement ideas.
• Draw on the expertise within the team, their networks and creative content, convening an holistic programme in line with TAC’s strategic priorities, income generation priorities and brand.
• Develop and implement TAC’s Elimu Education Programme, fostering relevant relationships with educational institutes from primary to tertiary levels across the UK and beyond, and co-creating programmes of activity.
• Oversee the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of any contracted work that delivers programmes of activities in the UK and abroad,
• Lead on developing, nurturing and administering relationships with strategic partners including the TAC Global Network of Affiliate Organisations.
• Oversee the work of the Young Africa Centre.

Engagement

• Maintain existing and develop new audiences, identifying programme strands that respond to and anticipate the needs and interests of diverse communities, introducing new ideas, innovative content and inclusive talent pathways.
• Seek out, develop, and sustain networks, stakeholders and partnerships at local, regional and global levels, and explore new ways for the charity to grow and develop at the cutting edge of global ideas
• Identify opportunities to develop The Africa Centre events across the UK and digitally, to reach wider audiences and deepen brand recognition across the year.
• Identify project funding to develop audiences, increase diversity and meet equalities objectives.
• Oversee learning and engagement programmes in the UK.
• Deliver and build upon current UK funded projects and contribute to developing funding bids.
• Oversee the management of TAC’s marketing and communications functions, including our public relations, website and social media accounts, ensuring that they are updated, relevant and archived appropriately.

Impact

• Lead on development and delivery of the organisation’s strategic Monitoring, Evaluation and Impact framework and associated plans and systems
• Develop and delivering TAC’s social purpose agenda, ensuring alignment with our strategic objectives.
• Oversee the development and management of TAC’s archives, be it digital, documental or physical, ensuring that they are catalogued, accessible and available for utilisation as a key resource.

Operational

• Line manage the programme, education and engagement team(s), recruiting, as necessary, skilled persons to deliver TAC programmes.
• Manage the delivery of contracts and partnership collaborative efforts, ensuring that contracting is delivered to the highest standards at all times to protect the reputation and financial standing of the charity and to meet contractor’s expectations.
• Identify potential funders relevant to area and contribute to writing business plans demonstrating a seamless relationship between content, programmes, events, audiences, and the core business activities
• Support the work of the Director of Development Team in developing and delivering the fundraising strategy and the Director of Finance & Operations on delivering TAC financial plans

Governance & Compliance

• Write reports for the board as and when required by the CEO in a timely and appropriate manner
• Work with the Director of Finance & Ops to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the charity in delegated budget area(s), adhere to TAC Financial Regulations and Procurement Policy.
• Ensure that all artist contracting is undertaken within TAC procurements and contracting policies observing all other required policies and statutory guidelines e.g., Equalities, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Intellectual Property, GDPR, Finance and Procurements etc.
• Maintain accurate records on The Africa Centre’s document management system and databases.
• Respond to general enquiries by email or telephone, manage own workload and maintain an online diary, using agreed TAC systems.
• To promote and comply with current legislation including The Africa Centre policies on Equality and Diversity and Health & Safety, Safeguarding, in the delivery of services and the
• Uphold the TAC brand and reputation

Leadership

• Be a vital, collegiate member of the TAC Senior leadership team,
• Develop and nurture relationships with the TAC Board, managing relevant committees and reporting to the Board and sub-committees as required.
• Represent the organisation at appropriate internal and external events and meetings, locally, regionally and globally.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

• A clearly-evidenced long-standing passion for Africa and people of African Descent
• 3 - 5 years working at a senior level in a similar role
• Excellent Programme Management experience with excellent budget management skills
• Excellent communication and networking skills, adept at effectively engaging people across a range of settings – from school children to Prime Ministers and Presidents;
• Educated to degree level of equivalent (relevant subject area)
• Team player, able to work cross disciplinary with artists, experts, academics, key stakeholders, and audiences in a programming function working with diverse audiences
• Specialist knowledge of audience development gained through 3 years’ experience
• Agile approach to work, recognising the limitations and challenges of running a small charitable organisation and willingness to work flexibly to get things done, apply effort and integrity at all times. Regular weekend and evening work will be required.
• Experience of working with an operations team to deliver events (production, tech requirements, artist management)
• Experience of delivering to funder obligations (Trusts and Foundations/Public and Private Funding) • Excellent network in publishing; cultural and creative sector; or other relevant sectors
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, et al.

Desirable

• Understanding and experience of digital content production
• Masters level qualification or equivalent
• Awareness of how to use emerging technologies including AI to develop impactful programming and engagement.
• Experience of working within a grant management organisation.

Work Arrangements

Location: The Africa Centre office, London. Occasional remote working is encouraged. The post-holder will be required to be on location in London for relevant activities. Some international travel will be required.

Refugee Council – Philanthropy Manager

Refugee Council is seeking an experienced philanthropy specialist to develop and grow the Refugee Council’s Philanthropy relationships and programme and deliver an ambitious Philanthropy strategy.

Refugee Council is a leading charity supporting refugees and people seeking asylum to rebuild their lives in safety here in the UK.  Providing practical, hands on support, their award winning services include welcoming refugees into local communities across the country, providing specialist children’s services – with a particular focus on refugee children who arrive here alone, helping people to navigate the asylum system, and supporting people to access housing and employment.  Evidence from services is then used to also inform the charity’s leading policy and influencing work, including campaigning for a fairer and kinder refugee protection system.  The charity works with more than 14,000 men, women and children every year.

As a result of growing need and increasing interest in Refugee Council’s work, the charity has ambitious plans to make a leap in impact, with investment in their Philanthropy Team to raise increased funds from key high value audiences.

This role will be a critical part of the Philanthropy & Partnerships Team and presents an exciting opportunity to grow Refugee Council’s established Philanthropy programme. The role will be responsible for delivering and creating bespoke development plans, supported by engaging cultivation and stewardship activities to secure increased funding from existing and new donors. It will also be a key point of contact for key Major Donors and high-profile supporters, patrons and ambassadors.

The position offers the opportunity to work alongside an engaged and well-connected Senior Management Team, supported by the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships and a highly regarded and experienced Philanthropy Consultant to make the charity’s ambitions a reality.

To succeed, candidates will have experience of running a Philanthropy/major giving programme, with extensive experience of managing their own pool of donors, as well as a track record of securing five and six figure donations from high net-worth individuals. You will have extensive knowledge of the Major Donor landscape and your fundraising skills will be matched by your strategic planning and leadership abilities.
