Service Managers are responsible for their services meeting targets and delivering on contract requirements, including providing the data required for contract and organisational monitoring.

The Service Manager role assumes responsibility for all aspects of SWAN’s Dorset statutory advocacy services. This includes a wide range of advocacy including IMCA, Care Act, IMHA, CHC, Carers and Generic advocacy, and advocacy for parents during child protection proceedings.  Our Service Manager is also responsible for the mobilisation and delivery of SWAN’s social value projects in Dorset.

The role requires a positive approach and a high degree of personal responsibility.  The Service Manager is responsible for the Dorset team’s performance.  Service Managers are experienced and inspirational leaders. They have, or are willing to work towards, a level 5 management qualification.

Direct reports:

Team Supervisors & Supervising Advocates

Duties and responsibilities: General

• To work collaboratively with other mangers and assist, when necessary, with providing cover during periods of absence and play an active part in SWAN’s Leadership Team
• Act as the safeguarding lead for the service
• Stay up to date with relevant legislation, changes to practice and wider activities relating to advocacy; to input to policies / procedures (COVID-19, LPS etc).
• Act as a role model for exemplary behaviour, attitude and mindset, embedding a culture of trust and accountability and challenging non-congruency and negativity
• To undertake all training as necessary and stay up to date with Continuing Professional Development
• Support SWAN to ensure that Advocacy Quality Performance Mark practices are business as usual
• Take responsibility for embedding good Health and Safety Practices and adhering to the Health and Safety Policy

Supervision and Development of Direct Reports

• Responsible for the recruitment of their service team
• Responsible for the effective induction of new staff members and support through their induction period
• Undertake regular supervisions and Personal Development Reviews in line with the Company requirements for all direct reports
• Organise and lead regular team meetings, to provide minutes, actions and documentation for each meeting. Team meetings will include professional development and guest speakers
• Deliver training workshops to the team, including lone working, safeguarding refreshers and the Purpose and Principles of Independent Advocacy (Unit 301) in line with Company requirements and maintain records of attendance
• Ensure all team members’ training is up to date and work with the Training Manager to create new opportunities to upskill the workforce
• Undertake all other people management responsibilities for the team in relation to absence and performance management
• Manage disciplinary and grievance issues if and when they arise

Management of Services

• Lead and manage the service in the delivery of outcome focused, issue based, person directed advocacy, in line with the relevant legislation for the advocacy discipline, regulations, codes of practice and internal policy and procedures
• Mobilise and manage local social value projects
• Responsible for the effective triaging of referrals and allocations of casework after considering prioritisation of cases, current caseloads and team members’ skill set
• Provide temporary cover for own team’s case work during periods of absence
• Complete accurate recording and reporting of all service data
• Ensure the timely completion of high quality commissioning report narratives and case studies
• Work proactively with the statutory services to promote the service, problem solve and uphold the agreed engagement protocols
• Communicate and negotiate effectively with a wide range of people, including commissioners, health and social care professionals and voluntary sector staff
• Identify risks in delivering the service and ensure compliance with risk management procedures
• Ensure the effective management of de-escalating client issues and handling of complaints
• Attend stakeholder meetings, forums and networks
• Ensure that good relationships are developed and maintained with other service providers
• Raise the profile of SWAN in the local area by any means identified as necessary

Qualifications Required:

• Diploma in Independent Advocacy Qualification (City & Guilds level 3 or 4) or willing to work towards.

Responsibilities

The Communications Officer (Media) will have a particular focus on increasing international media coverage of BHRRC’s work and research, and the activities of our partners, including in the field of labour rights. Responsibilities will include:

Drive a proactive and strategic press approach: Spot opportunities for high impact coverage in target outlets, building on existing press lists, develop relationships with priority journalists, and create and pitch compelling content to media, including media advisories, press releases and related materials.

Develop high-impact communications products, synthesising complex research and data sets: Work with our Global Team to develop materials which speak to our key audiences. Develop key messages for our priority programmes and also discrete outputs including individual briefings and research reports.

Contribute to organisational and project communications strategies and planning: Support the Head of Communications to implement our communications strategy. Advise project managers on strategic communications and support launch project planning. Keep our planning calendar up to date and help ensure deadlines are met.

Produce well-written content: Write and edit channel-appropriate content for our audiences. Support the Global Team to produce high-quality and newsworthy reports, op-eds and blogs.

Support digital outputs: Support the Web Content and Senior Digital Officers as appropriate, creating content for our digital platform and social media platforms (including priority platforms LinkedIn and Twitter).

Support the communications team: Provide on-call cover for the media line, with occasional infrequent out of hours work, and share admin jobs.

Key competencies and attributes

Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in a communications role, including working in a busy press office, communications department or as a journalist.

Media: Sharp news sense and editorial judgement; ability to conceive, craft and pitch news stories and carry out fast reactive work. Knowledge of and experience of working with the mainstream media, including knowledge of the editorial positions, audiences, and sections or programmes of key outlets. In addition, ideally, knowledge of international business media or media in some specific countries or regions.

Relationship building: Track record of developing relationships with journalists on key issues. Any existing contacts of relevance to BHRRC’s work a bonus.

For-impact communications: Excellent understanding of how strategic communications can work with research and advocacy approaches to achieve change. Proven ability to synthesis and communicate complex and sensitive information; understanding of how to tailor content to different audiences, contexts and channels. Outstanding written English and good oral communications ability.

Project management: Track record of leading and/or implementing complex projects including planning (timelining), execution and evaluation of lessons learned.

Strategic thinking: Track record of helping to develop successful communications strategies to effect change. Experience tailoring communications products for diverse international audiences an asset.

Supporting staff: Enthusiasm for supporting colleagues with communications. Experience supporting staff either through training, coaching or assisting with media advice an asset.

Team player: Experience of, and commitment to, working in high-performing teams that are highly collaborative and focused on outcomes. Experience of working with colleagues remotely, and in multicultural and diverse cultures and working environments also desirable.

We are looking for a Senior Advocate who will have day to day responsibility for the running and promotion of the advocacy service in Dorset.

You will manage a pool of advocates which involves recruitment, supporting them through induction and by conducting supervision and best practice meetings, ensuring the provisions of the service we offer to children and young people is to a high standard.

You will be responsible in managing the advocacy referrals and allocating these to the most appropriate advocate to meet the needs of the child or young person, whilst also carrying a small caseload of advocacy referrals yourself where you will provide independent and confidential advocacy to children and young people to empower them to express their wishes and feelings in decision that affect their lives to ensure that their voices are heard.

You will help drive the performance of the service by monitoring the referrals, activity and budgets, and using bespoke system, to prepare statistical and qualitative data reports for monitoring meetings to evidence service target achievements. This will also enable you to identify recurring themes and concerns which can be escalated.

This role also provides the opportunity to work in co-operation with other NYAS services and departments and well as acting the link between NYAS and the local authority.

• Digital action platform and technology: Work with the Web Content and Digital Officer to manage the development of the Resource Centre’s leading multi-functional digital platform, and our substantial data as compelling evidence. • Programme design and fundraising: Work with our development (fundraising) team and programme leads to ensure communications, and digital technology work is built into project design and budget, and that funders’ information needs are well-served.

We are looking for an energetic Immigration Adviser to provide advice to destitute migrants with No Recourse to Public Funds in hospitals.

Praxis Community Projects is a dynamic, award-winning human rights charity supporting migrants in crisis or at- risk, ensuring that their essential human needs are met and that they are able to overcome the barriers they face. This project is delivered in partnership with Pathway, the UK’s leading homeless healthcare charity. Supported by a project supervisor, you will be responsible for the overall project and delivery of immigration advice and casework to migrants at risk referred by selected Pathway Homeless Healthcare Teams across England. This service is delivered through a mixture of channels including telephone, digital, face-to-face and hybrid working. 

The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the issues faced by refugees, asylum seekers and migrants at risk (including EU migrants). The post holder will have a good understanding of the challenges faced by homeless migrants with NRPF and will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a range of stakeholders.

Placement Manager

Location: initially remote working but to be hybrid based in W/NW/SW London.

We are looking for a Placement Manager to join our enthusiastic and friendly team. Help Counselling Centre is a small Mental Health charity providing one-to-one counselling, both in person and online.  We are also a well-established training placement provider for trainee counsellors and psychotherapists studying with prestigious training providers in London.

About Help

Help Counselling is well-established Mental Health Charity with a heritage of over 50 years. We provide training placements for clinical supervisors, counsellors and psychotherapists who need to gain clinical experience to qualify (or further qualify) and be registered with one of the industry professional bodies such as, BACP or UKCP. For ethical reasons, the work trainee counsellors / psychotherapists do is unpaid, i.e., they must volunteer their time.

This volunteer model enables Help to fulfil its charitable aim of providing low-cost counselling services. It can take between 3-5 years to qualify, and our training placements are for minimum of 12 months meaning we can also provide clients with long-term help. The blend of low-cost and long-term talking therapy is much needed in a time of increasing demand for mental health support and increasing complexity of presenting issues.

About the job

Reporting to the Help Director, the job is to ensure the smooth and effective running of the training placement process in line with BACP requirements.

This will include providing clinical support and expertise to the Help Director; managing and assuring the quality of the counsellor recruitment process; handling counsellor issues; overseeing weekly client allocations and reallocations; handling queries and managing relationships with clients, counsellors and supervisors; reviewing and enhancing clinical policies.

Currently our client volumes are between 250-350, we have approximately 90 counsellors and clinical team of approximately 20. 

We operate a number of cloud-based IT systems and have outsourced HR and Finance functions.

 Key responsibilities

· Provide clinical support and expertise to the Help Director as required.

· Manage and oversee process of new counsellor recruitment, ensuring all new counsellors are interviewed and vetted against a suitable set of standards and controls. 

· Manage paperwork required by Training Organisations in relation to Trainee Counsellors at the beginning and during their placement. 

· Being available to support Trainee Counsellors on clinical placement with Help.

· Manage the Cause for Concern’ procedure with Trainee Counsellors and Supervisors as and when they arise. This will include ensuring appropriate record-keeping and taking appropriate action to ensure counsellors are working safely and within the BACP ethical framework. 

· Provide a point of escalation for client, counsellor or supervision queries. 

· Manage and oversee weekly client allocations and reallocations. 

· Manage any queries raised from Assessments and manage any declined clients 

· Assist in the periodic review and creation of appropriate clinical policies and procedures. Provide input into policies and procedures based on changes to best practice guidelines issued by professional bodies. 

The Candidate

Education & experience: Counselling or Psychotherapy Qualification, BACP or UKCP professional membership, 3-5 years' post-qualification experience. Experience of working within a training environment within the same industry highly desirable.

Skills:

Whilst being homebased, the Senior Supervising Social Worker will visit and support foster families across the TACT South West area including Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon, Gloucester, Somerset and Wiltshire areas but will also travel within the wider region for team meetings, training and other in person events. 

Overall Duties of the Senior Supervising Social Worker will include:

• An appropriate social work qualification

Burnham and Weston Energy CIC is looking for a programme manager to nurture and grow our energy advice service.

The service is delivered by a small team of trained Home Energy Advisors who visit people in their homes to provide advice on how they can save money on their bills and make their homes warmer and healthier to live in. They also install small energy efficiency measures such as LED lights, draft proofing and radiator reflectors. Households are then referred on to further support to help them access welfare payments and grant funding for home upgrades including insulation, boiler replacement and energy efficient appliances. 

The current team of 2 Home Energy Advisors have capacity to deliver around 700 home visits per year. We receive referrals from a range of local organisations. We employ a Programme Co-ordinator to manage and generate home visit referrals and bookings, provide follow up support, and manage events and communications.

From this foundation, our growth objectives for the Home Energy Savings service are to:

• Continue to raise awareness of the service amongst local organisations and the public, and increase the number of referrals and vulnerable householders who benefit.
• Grow the team of Home Energy Advisors as demand requires, to at least double the team by the end of 2025.
• Secure additional funding to support the service.
• Develop partnerships which broaden and deepen the ways we can help households, including unlocking funding and support for energy efficiency retrofit.

Role responsibilities

• ​Manage, mentor and support our team of Home Energy Advisors and the Programme Co-ordinator, and oversee its growth.

• Responsible for team safeguarding, H&S, mental health, team building, mentoring and training;

• Manage the delivery of our Home Energy Saving Service across North Somerset and the former districts of Sedgemoor and West Somerset and Taunton, seeking opportunities to strengthen and grow the service.
• Manage the delivery of grant funder requirements including ensuring KPIs are met, budgets managed and reports provided.
• Manage the delivery of our referral partnership contract with LEAP AgilityEco including ensuring KPIs and contractual requirement are met and that households referred to LEAP receive the best possible support.
• To secure and manage further funding partnerships (such as Redress or MCS funding),
• Responsible for ensuring company policies relating to the advice programme are kept up to date and consistent with requirements or partners. Responsible for ensuring working practice is in accordance with our policies and that risk assessments and management plans are in place and adhered to.
• Manage relationships with organisations referring households to the energy support programme and receiving onward referrals from us.
• Develop partnerships which broaden and deepen the ways we can help households.
• Develop our CRM and IT systems.

Essential requiremnts:

• Experience of leading and managing home visit teams including safeguarding, H&S, mental health, risk assessment and management, team building, mentoring and training. Experience of managing front line service teams is more important to us than energy advice experience. We can organise mentoring support from other community energy enterprises who have developed and scaled up local energy advice services.  
• Experience of overseeing complex case work.
• Experience of grant programme and service contract management including management of budgets, KPI delivery, reporting and meeting funder requirements.
• Experience of securing grant and service contract funding including applications, contract negotiation and ensuring funding requirements are in place.

• Sort and distribute incoming post and faxes in a prompt manner, responding to or forwarding items as appropriate, including sending signed and returned petitions to campaign targets
• Receive and sort items sent to PETA’s fur amnesty programme and transfer them to PETA’s off-site storage area
