The service brings together the expertise of local primary, secondary and voluntary sector mental health care providers with the aim of providing flexible, holistic and integrated services for adults with mental health problems.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Service Manager to join our team in Lewisham. The role will take a leading position in the development and delivery of the Primary Care Mental Health Team, with responsibility for operational management of the service, support of team members, and building strong partnerships with SLaM, key stakeholders and line management.
This is a pivotal role for someone with strong leadership skills and a passion for driving forward innovative and person-centred mental health support within primary and secondary care. The role requires strong communication skills and includes responsibility for dealing with safeguarding situations and risk management. Accurate record-keeping and outcome monitoring are essential.

Surgery and anaesthesia have a fundamental and growing impact on global health outcomes. Surgical intervention could address over 30% of the global burden of disease, and yet the poorest 33% of people receive just 3.5% of all surgery. Post-operative mortality rates 1,000 times higher than in some high-income countries can be found in parts of the world where surgery and anaesthesia have been neglected, and in some countries as many as 90% of anaesthetic departments do not have the equipment to provide a safe anaesthetic for a child.
With 142 Member Societies made up of anaesthesiologists in 151 countries, the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) is uniquely placed to influence these inequalities and help ensure universal access to safe surgery and safe anaesthesia.
As Governance Manager you will be responsible for delivering a high quality, professional, and effective governance service across the Federation and associated entities. You will work closely with our CEO, Governance & Programmes Officer, Board and other volunteers and leaders as required to deliver a number of key governance activities. This includes virtual and in-person meetings of the WFSA Board, Council, and General Assembly.
You will contribute to the expanding governance functions of the Federation family, with a focus on streamlining processes, improving organisational efficiency, and enhancing leadership communication and collaboration. The Benefits Service within South East London Mind is a well-established offer of support to clients who need to access welfare benefits they are entitled to receive. AFRIL’s Casework and Advocacy Service is a busy, professional team of 4 caseworkers (3 FTE) , a Community Activities Coordinator, and a number of volunteers. The team has grown significantly in the last 3 years, in response to the needs of our community and due to recognition of AFRIL’s high quality and relevant casework provision. The Casework and Advocacy Service provides AQS accredited complex casework and advice in the areas of Asylum Support, Housing, Benefits and Community Care. The service works to fill the gap, focusing on supporting those with complex vulnerabilities requiring wrap around support. AFRIL takes its services to where clients are; holding regular casework drop-in’s at asylum support hotels, community centres and at Lewisham Foodbank. AFRIL is also recently accredited by the Immigration Advice Authority to provide advice at Level 1, in both Immigration and Asylum and is currently in the process of becoming accredited at Level 2.
AFRIL’s Casework and Advocacy service uses casework trends and data to work with community members in order to engage in policy and systemic change. Utilising casework and community co-production, the service has created sector wide resources on asylum support, engaged in strategic litigation and successfully influenced local, pan-London and national policy outcomes. This is a growing area of work for the service and the successful Casework Manager will be required to balance high quality casework outputs and management of a team, while working closely with the Executive Director on emerging policy and advocacy work.

- Proven expertise in leasehold block management, ideally across large or complex estates.
- Strong legal and regulatory knowledge, including the Landlord & Tenant Act 1985, Commonhold & Leasehold Reform Act 2002, and Leasehold & Freehold Reform Act 2024.
- Confidence in challenging service charges, enforcing compliance, and supporting tribunal cases.
- Professional credibility, ideally with TPI or RICS membership (or equivalent experience).
- Excellent stakeholder and negotiation skills, with the ability to hold senior external partners accountable.

About the role:

Do you want to work with multiple-award winning charity, FoodCycle? Our vision is to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past for every community – including our school communities!
We’ve partnered with 4 schools across London to bring our free community meal to their families after school hours, with the additional goal of helping connect families with each other and the school and introducing kids to new healthy food.
We’re looking for some additional help over the next 6 months to support the volunteer teams on site and make these meals happen. You’ll need to have an interest and experience in working with kids and families!
By joining us you’ll gain an understanding of different aspects of local project delivery for a national charity. You’ll be hands-on and have an immediate impact each day, leading small teams of volunteers who cook in the kitchen and host our guests to create a positive and welcoming environment and a nutritious vegetarian meal.
Our school meals happen on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and we would ideally like you to work your hours across these three afternoons/evenings. You’ll be supporting 2 meals per week on average, with around 5 hours required per meal. That leaves 5 additional hours to join team meetings and complete other duties.
You’ll be supported by our experienced operational team, and we will equip you with a package of training and shadowing, including specific training around food safety, safeguarding and working within the lively environment of schools!

Based on a historic Market Square recently refurbished with £2m from the GLA, we want to develop a more people-powered regeneration to sit alongside the massive property development happening all around us.
As well as driving economic improvements, we want to help create a more tolerant, cohesive, and vibrant local community where everybody is welcome. Part of that is to help local people create more community events, activities, and enterprises that give people the chance to collaborate together and build a lively community where people work and play together.

We have already helped many local people set up their own initiatives, building their confidence and helping them find resources – including the Bermondsey Literature festival, Latin markets, and a range of dance, ecology and arts projects. General Information
Big Local Works (BLW) is a community-focused economic and social inclusion charity based in Bermondsey, South East London. We want to help create a thriving, inclusive local economy and a community in which everyone can participate.
We deliver our support in the community through three main services:
- Expert welfare and benefits advice and advocacy for local people experiencing poverty and hardship
- Employability Skills training and coaching to help people access ways of increasing their earned income
- Start-up and enterprise support for clients who wish to start trading on the local ‘Blue Market’ People Powered Regeneration
- Wider community building designed to create a more tolerant, diverse, and lively local community where everybody is welcome
We have a strategic vision to create a ‘people-powered regeneration’ in an area already undergoing massive redevelopment. In July 2019, a community campaign was successful in securing £2m funding from the GLA for the ‘Made in Bermondsey’ regeneration project centred on making key improvements to the local marketplace,
the Blue Market in South Bermondsey. Final works were completed in July 2022 and the market now has a first-class infrastructure for traders, local residents and visitors to use and enjoy the Blue Market Place. The market also showcases a vision of a better future for the local area: a more prosperous, resilient and connected local community where people come together to trade, socialise, and celebrate across the diverse boundaries.
South Bermondsey has a problematic history with racism and other forms of intolerance, and while migrant (recent and longer-term) communities have begun to settle in Bermondsey after many years of exclusion, there remains a sense that they are not full members of our community. Through our work we seek to empower local people, encourage enterprise and community activity, which is intended both to support the economic regeneration of the area and to empower and increase the confidence of local diverse communities.
Most recently, we have been successful in securing £200,000 from the Esmee Fairbairn Charity for strategy and community engagement support in the local area.
Our key goals are
- Local people have more say over the changes in their local community.
- This means that local people are actively involved in the development of place-based community assets,activities and projects.
- Local people will have more influence on local development and regeneration.
- A more diverse range of local people work together to improve their community, which means community members from a wider range of backgrounds become active citizens.

Community Organiser – Enterprise and Engagement
Over the past 2 years, we’ve undertaken in-depth research and community mapping to understand our area’s needs, assets and lived experiences.
This role has three key responsibilities:
- Outreach and engagement with diverse local communities to help them build a stronger, more representative voice.
- Supporting the development of new initiatives by local people to stimulate a sense of community.
- Ensuring that a wider range of local people are involved and included in community activity, and their voices heard – especially those from marginalized communities
Key Tasks include
- Provide practical support and encouragement to the development of new initiatives in the local area.
- Broker collaborations and relationships between local groups, helping them develop relationships and networks.
- Identify and develop active citizens, and support them to develop and deliver their own individual and shared community Initiatives – from microbusinesses on the market, to dance and knitting clubs or arts groups
- Facilitate groups and provide ‘servant leadership’ for community groups where appropriate, managing conflict effectively
- Develop effective and positive relationships with local stakeholders from many different backgrounds, communicating assertively and with diplomacy and tact.
- Organise Events: Plan and host public and private events, both online and in person, to strengthen community ties and increase visibility.
- Work closely with the Business Improvement District, local charities and businesses and key strategic partners to help us achieve the overall aims of the People-Powered Regeneration
- Build and maintain a network of contacts among our priority groups and communicate efficiently with them
- Lead on day-to-day local communications and marketing, supporting the development of newsletters and online content, with appropriate support and resource
- Contribute to research and evaluation across activities to ensure our work has the best possible impact.

Skills, knowledge and experience

- A strong understanding of, and commitment to, the principles and practices of ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion and how these relate to community organising.
- Demonstrable experience of maintaining strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, with effective time management and prioritisation skills, to be able to multitask.
- Ability to communicate confidently, professionally, and approachably.
- Experience of managing conflict and challenging behaviour, with appropriate management support
- A high level of written and oral communication skills
- Experience of managing a small budget.
- Professional IT skills including confidence using Microsoft Office and Google Drive, and use of social media. Training can be given.
