As they enter the second year of their pilot project, they are now recruiting for a Family Support Worker to join their team, on a FTC basis, initially until March 2025.

As a family Support Worker, you will work across the Young Carers and Adult Carers teams to provide support to families affected by alcohol and/or substance misuse, through whole-family assessments and reviews. You will be helping to ensure that adult and young carers and their families have access to a range of emotional and practical support. You will also work closely with the Young Carers Assessments and Referrals Officer, Identify and prevent inappropriate caring responsibilities, carry out 1-1 casework and maximise support for families through effective partnership working and improved referral pathways.

To be considered for this role you will have experience of working with vulnerable young people and managing complex cases as well as knowledge of safeguarding protocols including referring and escalation to Children’s Social Care. Candidates with a professional qualification in health and social care, youth or community work, and/or direct experience of delivering family focused interventions are encouraged to apply.

Please note, this is a part-time role, 28-hour p/w, ideally spread across 4 days. You will be based on site at their Brixton office, with the option of home working 1 day per week, as well as outreach/in the community. Day Care Officer – Day Care Centres 

Age UK Camden Day Care Centres are looking to recruit Day Care Officers to cover a range of hours and shifts across our two Day Care Centres. 

Our Centres provide a wide range of activities as well as being a specialist Day Care Centres caring for older people with complex needs. The Day Care Centres also provide a hot lunch and a range of special events.

You will amplify young women’s voices and create a non-judgemental and creative space where survivors are free to be their authentic selves, safely explore their rights, options and impact of their experiences, and make informed choices about their future. You will manage a caseload of young women, as well as lead in delivering our one-off drop-in specialist practical support to sessions to young women as part of the Voice and Choice Project.

About you

The ideal candidate will be experienced in providing specialist advocacy support to young people, have an excellent insight into the needs of survivors of VAWG and to be passionate about delivering creative face-to-face sessions to young people. Stop Domestic Abuse support all those affected by domestic abuse by providing innovative and unique services. They ensure that victims are supported to recover, and perpetrators are supported to change their behaviour.

Refuge workers will provide safety planning, support, advice, and assistance to children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and are staying in the refuge. Post: Rough Sleeper Outreach Worker

Reporting to: Outreach Manager

Hours per week: You will be required to work 37.5 hours a week over 5 days on which work could fall between Monday and Sunday, with a minimum of 7.5 hours per day, between 5am and 11pm.

Actual days, start/finish times will be variable and in accordance with the rota which will be available two weeks in advance. Overall purpose of the job

• Landlord Recruitment/ Retention to get people into private rented accommodation.
• Facilitate accommodation moves, cleaning and preparation of rooms for Outreach clients.

• Liaising with faith and community groups in all districts to recruit volunteers to facilitate outreach in the area.

Join our small but perfectly formed learning team of creatives at Crisis Skylight Croydon as we develop a new dynamic space to expand our learning programmes and form exciting community partnerships, locally and further afield.

Hours:  Three hours per week, every Tuesday 11am to 2pm

About the role 

As a Sewing for Wellbeing Tutor, you will be creating, planning, and delivering fun, exciting workshops, courses, and projects, and inspiring our adult members in engaging and inclusive ways. If you are a compassionate, creative, collaborative sewing or textiles tutor artist who is just waiting to share your amazing range of sewing techniques and skills with our members, and confident in teaching machine and hand sewing skills, we would love to hear from you!

About you 

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Understanding of the needs, issues and sensitivities of supporting people facing homelessness and other forms of social exclusion and develop practical solutions to address them. 

• Understanding of psychologically informed approaches when working with people who have experienced complex trauma from marginalised backgrounds.  

• Experience of delivering sewing sessions, workshops, and creative projects with personalised outcomes to support people to gain new skills and self-confidence.

• Knowledge of and skills in of a wide variety of sewing skills and techniques, including hand and machine sewing; and for example, surface decoration, item personalisation; embroidery, patchwork, embellishments; recycling old fabrics into something new; repairing and mending; clothes making; homeware etc, to help people learn, progress and improve their wellbeing. 

• · A teaching qualification or be able to demonstrate delivering in a community-based setting. 

• You may have experience in; Art therapy; Safeguarding; Mental health first aid; Community arts practice.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities 

1. Client Support 

●Carry out initial assessment of client needs to identify and plan the support needed to address issues and prevent any problems from escalating. 

●Provide casework level advice on welfare benefits, housing and financial issues as appropriate.

●Facilitate access, signpost and accompany clients to services or activities, in particular those with limited English. 

●Assist clients with other related problems or refer to other specialist organisations as appropriate.

2. Administration, Monitoring & Evaluation

Person Specification 

The post holder should have a very good command of Portuguese and English, spoken and written, be committed to making a positive difference to people’s lives, have relevant experience in working with families and individuals with a range of needs, and knowledge of domestic abuse and the needs of those who experience it. 

1. Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

●Educated to degree level or equivalent (A qualification in a relevant field such as Community Development, Social work, Domestic Abuse Advisor’ Law or Psychology is desirable). 

●At least two years’ experience of working with disadvantaged individuals and families, paid or voluntary work. 

●Experience in developing and delivering client centred services. 

●Experience of providing advice on housing and welfare.

●Knowledge of working in partnership with external stakeholders and the third sector. 

●Knowledge and understanding of domestic conflict, abuse and/or violence and its impact.

Kitchen Assistants x 2 – Day Care Centres 

Age UK Camden Day Care Centres are looking to recruit two Kitchen Assistants across our two Day Care Centres based in Kings Cross and Hampstead. (Staff are expected to be able to work at both locations as required) 

We have a dedicated, specialist team supporting people with care needs, including those living with mild - moderate dementia and complex needs.  

Our Centres provide a wide range of activities as well as being a specialist Day Care Centres caring for older people with complex needs. The Day Care Centres also provide a hot lunch which enjoyed by our clients. 

The successful candidate will: 

• Support the Chef and other Day Centre staff in food service delivery during lunch time periods 

• Support the Chef and other Day Centre staff in the preparation of food and drink 

• Be responsible for keeping kitchen areas clean, tidy and sanitized 

• Be responsible for washing up of all dirty dishes, cooking utensils and other cooking equipment 

• Supervise kitchen trainees in appropriate skills. (when applicable) 

• Ensure that the kitchen is clean, orderly and managed to the highest standards of food hygiene and safety at all times. 

Salary: £13.15 ph London Living Wage  

Hours: 10 hours a week across Monday to Friday 11.30 am to 1.30 pm

We are looking for an experienced Housing Advisor with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is passionate about enabling people to overcome homelessness and poverty.  You will have gained a minimum of two years’ experience of housing advice and casework through paid or other voluntary experience. A legal qualification would be an advantage.

You will be part of a friendly and supportive team of experienced housing advisors and welfare rights specialists.  You will use your in-depth knowledge and experience of providing specialist housing advice to provide a structured information, advice and casework service to clients of the centre in housing law, housing options and aspects of welfare benefits that relate to housing and homelessness. You will manage your own caseload and provide advice, support and training to staff who are not specialists in this area to enable them to assist clients with less complex enquiries.

You will be able to draw on the support offered by colleagues from the Centre’s other teams (Assessment and Advice, Immigration, Employment and Learning, Family Services and Supported Accommodation) to ensure that your clients have access to the help need not only to deal with their immediate housing problem, but also to tackle any underlying issues and to build resilience against similar issues arising again.
