Key Duties and Responsibilities

A. Support the CFO and Deputy Director of Finance and senior leadership team to set up the Financial Centre of Excellence dedicated to supporting Black and racially Minoritised community groups.

B. Provide bespoke financial management capacity-building support to Black and racialized organisations in 8 London boroughs, including supporting groups to:

1. Conducting financial health checks and developing and implementing action plans.

2. Provide training, and guidance to groups supported on ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory and funder requirements governing the sector, employer responsibilities training, and governance.

3. Support the development and implementation of financial strategies operational/strategic management and planning resources.

4. Provide training and guidance on risk identification and mitigation and annual reports and accounts.

5. Support the delivery of webinars/masterclasses to participants

6. Support developing effective online learning tools and platforms to cascade learning.

7. Support the delivery of a proactive finance service ‘Critical Friend’ providing financial advice, support, scrutiny, and challenge to the organisations.

8. Support groups to plan resources, assess the implications of service proposals, and provide financial modelling and analysis of service options for projects and initiatives.

9. Contribute to the provision of financial support across the Ubele hubs, in forecasting both in-year and future-year income and expenditure, ensuring these are accurate, appropriate, and supported  through activity and performance analysis.

10. Support the Deputy Finance Director as required on a range of financial and management accounting, budgetary, reconciliation, reporting, and payment tasks where relevant, for the designated  service area.

11.Support the Ubele senior leadership team and staff in the development and updating of the project organisational and annual budget to ensure that it supports the outcomes set out in our strategic plan.

About the role

This role is all about developing a welcoming and supportive support group community for kinship carers wherever they live. Building belonging, resilience and empowerment for support group leaders and kinship carers.

Funded by the Department for Education, our national Peer Support Service is creating a sustainable and life-changing legacy for kinship carers across England.

This is a game-changing service for kinship carers and builds on Kinship’s 10 years’ experience of developing peer support groups, and two years delivering a national service which has set up 145 new groups. 

As a Peer Support Officer, you’ll make sure we deliver an exceptional and consistent peer support service for kinship carers.  

You’ll set-up and develop new in-person groups in areas of high need, as well as supporting existing groups to thrive, developing a resilient and powerful peer support community.

Purpose of the role

Taking responsibility for the North West of England, you will reach out and work directly in local communities to develop sustainable kinship peer support groups.

You’ll need to think strategically – mapping areas and utilising resources to be effective and efficient in managing your time and building local connections.

Using community engagement techniques like coffee mornings, community events and linking with our training and support service, you’ll build local connections and relationships.

As you develop a group and recruit support group leaders, you’ll provide standardised training and help the group to navigate forming and storming – providing reassurance and support to empower the group.

Once the group is stable, you’ll transition the support group leader/s over to the ‘Hub’ team to build confidence and knowledge to run their group independently.  You’ll also support online groups and special interest groups to transition to independence. 

You’ll ensure targets are met and that kinship carers receive a good experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• In person (face-to-face) strategic outreach into local and regional communities including setting up and attending local engagement events.

• Set up and develop at least six new sustainable in person peer support groups annually, attending up to six sessions in person (if needed) before transition to self-sufficiency.

• Recruit and retain support group leaders to develop their peer support groups.

• Deliver standardised training to support group leaders (group roles and responsibilities, safeguarding, setting up, running and promoting a group).

Essential requirements include:

• Proven experience in reaching and establishing strong relationships with hidden or underserved communities in person.

• Significant experience developing peer support communities.

• Proven experience of recruiting, managing, training and supporting volunteers in community settings with an emphasis on understanding and working with vulnerable volunteers. 

• Proven experience of ensuring outcomes and impacts of services are evidenced through high quality data collection.

About the team

Kinship is in the third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We have created 145 peer support groups and supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.

About the role

The role of the Peer Support Hub Lead is to oversee and take accountability for sustaining kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model.

In this context, your team is the centralised ‘hub’ of the service, delivering an exciting programme of training, speakers, toolkits and resources to help peer support group leaders develop, build and sustain their group well.

Your national team of three will make sure groups feel connected and supported, learn from each other and build a powerful and resilient peer community.

• Work with Head of Network Development to coordinate national partnerships.

 In this context, your role supports the centralised ‘hub’ of the service, delivering an exciting programme of training, speakers, toolkits and resources to help peer support group leaders develop, build and sustain their group well. This will be building on and innovating the current Support Group Network.

 Your role will support group leaders to feel connected and supported, learn from each other and build a powerful and resilient peer community.

The type of person we're looking for:

Super organised, you are someone who uses their initiative, anticipates challenges and proactively provides seamless solutions. 

You’ll be comfortable with using digital technology and tools to build communities and develop resources. You’ll be curious about digital community tools, and you’ll want to work closely with our digital and content team to develop an amazing online experience.

You’ll also be a people person – understanding how building ‘in person’ relationships is key to unlocking community power for kinship carers.

You’ll be the right-hand person to the Peer Support Hub Lead making sure we deliver a really brilliant experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Operational delivery, innovation and management of a dedicated online and in-person peer support ‘hub’.

• Building direct and positive relationships with support group leaders.

• Roll out mechanisms and tools to support groups to remain sustainable including but not limited to; informal buddy matches, online hub for support group leaders, monthly e-news, monthly speakers, themed specialist training (like setting up a safe Facebook group / promoting your group) and celebration events.

• Facilitation of regional network meetings.

Main Responsibilities

Supporter care advisors are responsible for being the first point of contact for supporters and members of the public dealing with a wide range of enquiries via phone, email, web chat, social media and letter. Advisors provide excellent customer service by putting the supporter at the heart of everything we do. Capturing data and feedback accurately after each contact is key to help us identify trends and new ways of working. They will also thank supporters for their generous donations by creating bespoke acknowledgements within agreed timeframes. We also provide a first line self-empowerment support service where advisors are expected to manage individual cases.

Ideal Candidate

Experience working in a contact centre is preferred. In addition, providing information both verbally and in writing to a high standard is key. The ideal candidate will be able to work with a high volume of enquiries and have the necessary computer skills (incl. Word, Excel and Outlook), with the ability and willingness to learn new procedures through training provided. You will also be expected to react and deal with change in a positive manner, whilst demonstrating an understanding of the emotional intelligence needed and active listening skills.

What will you be doing?

Leaders in Community (LiC) is an award-winning youth-led organisation with over 15 years' experience in delivering youth leadership and youth social action campaigns, supporting local young people challenge and overcome inequalities and barriers to progression.

As the Partnerships and Services Manager, you will report directly to the CEO and as such will be a member of the leadership team, to deliver Leaders in Community’s (LiC) work to empower young people and communities to improve quality of life and build a sustainable future in line with the Charity’s vision and mission. Working alongside the leadership team, you will oversee, and capacity build the services being delivered in our vibrant community centre, which is located in the historic East End of London.

The Hepatitis C Trust develops projects nationally where peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training, increase hepatitis C awareness, and access to testing and treatment for people living with hepatitis C. 

Working with the South West Peninsula ODN, The Hepatitis C Trust are now expanding this commitment through the introduction of the HCC (Hepatocellular Carcinoma) surveillance and early liver disease detection programme.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who can work on their own, engage with stakeholders and have a desire to make a difference in promoting liver screening in community settings, and by increasing access to specialist care services.

Working in partnership with local hospital and community outreach clinics, the post holder will ensure that patients are supported through initial liver assessment and ongoing surveillance as required. The post will coordinate delivery of educational and awareness workshops and promote the delivery of liver screening in community settings 

Working under the guidance of the South West Peninsula Peer Programme Manager, the post-holder will work alongside other identified partners to help develop a community outreach liver surveillance program and carry out HCC early detection activity and interventions across Plymouth.

We require a good standard of education, willingness to travel and welcome creativity and innovation in all our work. We are a patient-led organisation – you will be working in an environment where the patient/service user/client is placed at the centre of all that you do. This post will require extensive travel across the region and the post holder is required to hold a clean driving licence and have their own vehicle for work related travel.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and committed Business Development Manager to join our growing charity. Responsible for winning new business and retaining existing contracts to achieve financial and growth targets, this is a pivotal role at Kinship. If you are self-motivated, have experience of producing high quality, successful bids, can think strategically, and love to work collaboratively across teams, we want to hear from you.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead on all commissioning activity at Kinship directly with commissioners and through tendering activity.

• Lead and support the creation of high-quality bids including writing technical questions and method statements.

• Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of Kinship, the external environment, and kinship carers and integrate this knowledge into business development activity and bid production.

Essential requirements include:

• Experience of successful bid production and bid management – from identification of opportunity through to submission. Track record in successful tendering for retention of contracts and new business.

• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal. Able to articulate and translate complex ideas and service delivery models into compelling, structured, and high-quality written propositions.

• Ability to analyse large volumes of information to develop clear and compelling bids and proposals.

About Us

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.

The role

Is an exciting new edition to the TUR team, created to capitalise on the fact that the number of businesses in our catchment area is 45000+, but we’re not trying to talk to all of them, just target a few – ideally by gaining referrals and recommendations. So the job is to proactively find those local businesses happy to talk to us, understand what they might be looking for by partnering with a charity, share our brilliant story along with the business case (which is strong) for them to get involved with us in some way. We have made an excellent start, we already have a small number of great corporate partners, and this job is about taking it all on to the next level. As you would expect the role is about creating contacts, networking, maximising the face-to-face time with prospective partners and where possible gaining referrals. And, ultimately this is all because, the bigger our portfolio of corporate partners all feeling great about their involvement with us, the more able we are to raise the funds we need to keep up with an ever-increasing demand for our services.

About You

You live within - or know well, West/Central London, you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the product or service you’re talking about. You have a CV that demonstrates solid experience in a comparable role in a ‘business-to-business’ environment, a role - the success of which, is dependent on the levels of energy and proactivity you provide. This could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. However, if you have a solid B2B background and want to explore a change of direction you are also very welcome to apply. You are comfortable and confident with working autonomously, you can articulate and ‘bring to life’ your story through your presentation skills. You also need great listening skills so you can build a picture of what each new corporate partner is looking to achieve by signing up to our cause. You have used Microsoft suite products before – including PowerPoint. A driving licence and use of a car is desirable as the role requires regular client visits, some of whom may not be accessible by public transport.
