Key Tasks and Responsibilities 

1. Client Support 

●Carry out initial assessment of client needs to identify and plan the support needed to address issues and prevent any problems from escalating. 

●Provide casework level advice on welfare benefits, housing and financial issues as appropriate.

●Facilitate access, signpost and accompany clients to services or activities, in particular those with limited English. 

●Assist clients with other related problems or refer to other specialist organisations as appropriate.

Person Specification 

The post holder should have a very good command of Portuguese and English, spoken and written, be committed to making a positive difference to people’s lives, have relevant experience in working with families and individuals with a range of needs, and knowledge of domestic abuse and the needs of those who experience it.

The Infection Prevention Society (IPS) is seeking an experienced Financial Controller on a part-time basis to manage the transition of the financial systems and processes. With 2,400 members, the IPS is dedicated to advancing infection prevention and control (IPC), playing a pivotal role in supporting IPC professionals, promoting best practices, and influencing policy to prevent infections.

The organisation is transitioning away from being a association-management / volunteer-led model to a small secretariat, hiring its first CEO and five other positions, including this most senior finance role. You will lead on the transition process covering all aspects of financial management, to ensure the Society’s financial integrity and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the financial transition to an in-house model.
• Creating and testing all internal processes.
• Oversee Statutory accounts, budgeting, credit control, financial reporting and compliance.
• Manage payroll and pension scheme implementation.
• Forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis and support with audit.
• Investigate potential new income generation schemes with CEO.

Requirements:

• Accountancy qualification (CIMA, ICAEW, AAT, ACCA, etc.)
• Proven experience in a financial management role, ideally within a membership body, learned society, nfp/charity or public sector.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Head of Safeguarding & Professional Standards with a background in social work to join Young Lives vs Cancer.

The Head of Safeguarding & Professional Standards works to create a positive organisational safeguarding culture where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, through shaping, implementing and monitoring safeguarding activity, policy, training and governance across the whole organisation. The role also sets professional standards for our Services Directorate, and highlights areas for continuous improvement, and by directly delivering or designing and commissioning training, they enable Young Lives vs Cancer to respond to changes in policy, legislation and best practice in social care and safeguarding.

You would be joining us at a really exciting time in our journey. Following two innovative peer reviews with partner charities, we are confident in our approach to safeguarding. But like many organisations, we need to prepare for the future. With the launch of a new strategy later this year, we are looking outward to understand how we can create a better future for young cancer patients, one in which the whole system of support around them works together, face to face and digitally, and no-one is left behind. We constantly challenge how we do things, and are experimenting with new ways to create impact, influence the whole system, and importantly – fund this vital work.

You’ll be vital to this journey, leading our approach to safeguarding and professional standards and giving us a high level of confidence as we move forward. You will work closely with a passionate and dedicated group of trustees, directors and management teams who lead activities from frontline social care services through to fundraising and support services.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

The Head of Safeguarding & Professional Standards:

• Shapes, implements and monitors and reports performance against the safeguarding policy, training and governance across the whole organisation including with the trustees
• Reports to and supports the trustee Safeguarding Committee
• Oversees the governance of safeguarding referrals and activity in local social care teams
• Advises on safeguarding matters anywhere else across the organisational structure (including in income generation, for example)
• Works closely with the Services Senior Management team to set professional standards for our services and highlight areas for continuous improvement
• Planning and directly delivering, or designing and commissioning training, to enable Young Lives vs Cancer to respond to changes in policy, legislation and best practice in social care and safeguarding

The person we are looking for will have:

• The right experience: you must be a registered social worker and have worked as a as a social worker and in a strategic role in children or young people's social care services, delivering safe services with particular reference to safeguarding and assurance, and have significant experience of developing social work practice at a strategic or system level
• The right leadership expertise: with strong leadership and collaborative planning skills you will have ability to work collaboratively to oversee how things work, and influence stakeholders across the charity
• The right people skills: Confidence to challenge ways of thinking and the communication skills to coach and empower people to build a culture of safeguarding.

Established in 1997, Jigsaw4u provide a range of services for children, young people and families experiencing complex social and emotional difficulties in South West London.  Jigsaw4u has experienced considerable growth and development over the past several years, and this new role has been identified by the Board of Trustees and Chief Executive Officer to support Jigsaw4u’s position and aspirations for the future.

Job Purpose 

This is a new role created to assist the small but growing team at SKT with our primary goal of engaging and mobilising residents in the neighbourhood we serve, numbering around 7500 people. SKT will assume management of community and event spaces at the heart of the neighbourhood this year and we are preparing service providers to make room for community voice in shaping local services. Involving residents in shaping their future is central to our purpose, whether by ensuring local assets and amenities work for them, or by influencing service delivery. This makes the Community Engagement Coordinator role an exciting and important addition to the team.

Main Tasks: 

Volunteer Recruitment, Training and Coordination  

• Recruit and maintain a team of twenty active volunteers from the local community to assist in community building initiatives.

• Develop and deliver a volunteer programme to engage the South Kilburn community which will likely include, but not limited to: 

• Community research and consultation 

• Public space improvements (greening, activation etc)

• Promoting community cohesion through events

About you and the role

The purpose of this role is to lead on our finance strategy, and ensure all of our systems, reporting and processes are helping to drive forward the charity and deliver on our objectives at scale. You will work closely with the Chief Executive and Directors to ensure that financial planning is effective and supported by accurate data analysis. You will report directly to Trustees as required and ensure that the highest standards of transparency and probity are maintained.

You will be joining the team during a period of growth in the size and complexity of our delivery. We currently have 20 employees and anticipate doubling in size within three years. You will have a crucial role in shaping our systems and processes to ensure we can scale effectively, both our existing programmes and a new membership-based programme that is in development. We’re looking for an experienced finance professional with an interest in effectively using technology and systems to drive efficiency, without compromising on accuracy or compliance.

You will support and mentor the Finance and Office Manager, ensuring that financial administration is carried out proficiently and in line with all legal and regulatory requirements, including ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all statutory filings are made accurately and on time. Your role will also encompass ensuring that we operate within legal & regulatory frameworks and stay up to date with changes in relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities:

• Developing a comprehensive financial strategy that supports the delivery of the charity’s objectives and activities

• Reviewing suitability of our current systems: Quickbooks for accountancy, Beacon CRM, PLEO for expenses management, Survey Monkey for data collection etc.

• Where necessary, identifying and implementing new software to ensure all systems and processes are robust, user friendly, deliver useful data analysis, integrate and/or improve automation

• Working closely with the Director of Transformations to translate the annual activity plan into an accurate organisational-level budget

• Advising the Chief Executive, team and Trustees, ensuring that benefits and risks of decisions are fully considered and fit with the overall financial strategy

• Oversee sound financial management and governance across the organisation

• Provide leadership and guidance to all things finance related, providing mentoring and support to the team

• Accountability for monitoring that the organisation’s services are, and will, run to budget, supporting budget holders and reporting promptly on risks

• Have ultimate oversight of the external audit and production of the statutory accounts, supported in delivery of this by the Finance & Office Manager

• Oversee production of management accounts and bespoke financial reports, including accurate forecasting, incisive analysis and accessible narrative commentary

• Support the Development team with financial submissions and other compliance areas (eg advising on and supporting with due diligence processes)

Skills & experience:

• You have some experience in a senior finance role (eg Director, Head of, Management Accountant) in any sector, and some experience within a finance function in the 3rd sector (in particular familiarity with the Charity SORP and experience of administering restricted funds)

As Fundraising Manager, you will support the team to develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with supporters, managing a small portfolio of your own donors and leading on the day-to-day contact with corporate partners and event sponsors.

As Fundraising Manager, you will:

• Manage a pool of HNWIs, corporate partners and event sponsors focusing on delivering compelling stewardship plans to deepen relationships with supporters and secure income
• Proactively identify and research major donor and corporate prospects, and develop individual cultivation plans to move along the pipeline
• Create high-quality and innovative pitches and presentations to engage prospective donors/partners
• Manage relationships with event sponsors ensuring key deliverables are met
• Support the delivery of Elephant Family’s renowned events, primarily focusing on managing the relationships with guests, event partners, and sponsors
• Work with the Programmes team to identify funding opportunities aligned to donors’ interests and current funding needs
• Take ownership of the database (Salesforce) ensuring donor records are up-to-date to allow for effective supporter communications and engagement

Ideal skills and experience: 

• Demonstrable experience of managing relationships with HNWIs and corporate partners at the 5-figure+ level
• Proven experience of soliciting and securing support from prospects
• Strong writing skills with ability to create engaging content, proposals, pitches, presentations, reports and other donor communications
• Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail and proven ability to manage a varied workload

Job purpose:

 The role has two distinct areas of responsibility:

  Provide administrative and logistical support for the smooth running of the London office (70%). Administrative assistance for the general operations of the Trustees, including coordination of Board meetings (30%), although this may vary on a day-to-day basis.

This role requires a candidate who is well-organised, adaptable, and proactive. Strong administrative, numeracy, communication, and IT skills and proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite, including SharePoint and our organisational Intranet, are essential.

Roles and responsibilities:

Office Administration and logistical support (70%)

· Proactively ensure that the office functions well and efficiently, maintaining office equipment and stocks of office supplies within budget.

· Act as the primary contact for visitors and phone inquiries. Manage the general inquiries email inbox and other shared email accounts.

· Be the main point of contact for office maintenance, security, and building management. Communicate with the landlord to promptly and efficiently address any related issues.

· Ensure office procedures are kept up-to-date and communicated to staff.

· Coordinate the preparation and production of business cards and ID cards for staff

· Develop and uphold Saferworld (UK)’s list of trusted suppliers, regularly reviewing and adjusting as necessary in alignment with Saferworld’s procurement policy.

· Add, update and maintain the UK Asset online asset register

· Identify opportunities to improve administrative systems and processes and proactively collaborate to redesign them.

· Collaborate closely with the Global People and Operations teams and ICT to assist in the onboarding and offboarding processes for new staff in our London office.

· Plan staff events, including annual summer and winter socials.

· Assist with renewing global insurance policies and provide administrative support for handling claims, including coordinating with staff and the insurance claims team as necessary.

· Coordinate with the IT team to set up new employees, ensuring the provision of company IT equipment aligns with internal policies.

· Provide administrative support to staff when visiting the UK, including providing visa support letters and making travel bookings in the UK for visiting staff and partners.

· Provide support with the organisational Travel Management Company (TMC), including setting up staff profiles and offering booking guidance.

· Monitor staff travel plans for ICT equipment movement.

· Manage Saferworld's organisational contacts database, including contact import, tagging, and deduplication, in compliance with UK GDPR legislation.

· Maintain an organised and effective filing structure within the internal SharePoint sites where relevant

Management team administrative support (30%)

· Provide administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer when required.

· Assist in preparing and coordinating management team, UK and Saferworld Europe Board meetings, and other committee and leadership meetings. This includes handling documentation, logistical arrangements, ICT setup for remote participation, and supporting travel bookings and expense claims.

· Manage the global Saferworld calendar, ensuring everyone is informed of events and meetings as necessary.

· Undertake miscellaneous tasks as requested by the CEO, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to support organisational needs effectively.

We are looking for a Head of Risk Management and Insurance to join RBLs Legal and Assurance team to work closely with the Chief Finance Officer, Executive Board, senior leaders and Trustees on the risk strategy for RBL.

In the key role, you will help our organisation to comply with our legal, constitutional and regulatory requirements regarding all areas of risk management and insurance, and you will ensure RBL has in place sound and integrated policies, procedures and structures throughout.

Day to day you will manage the interface between Trustees, senior management and risk management arrangements of the organisation, and maintain a high standard of risk reporting, risk management and insurance.

Reporting to our Chief Finance Officer, key responsibilities will include:

• Report to the Audit & Risk Committee, ensuring the Committee has a clear view of RBLs risk exposures and the effectiveness of the risk management model
• Provide the Trustees and Executive Directors with assurance, support and information to enable them to comply with Charity Commission requirements regarding risk management

• Consider annually the suitability of the insurance portfolio, and advise and support RBL and subsidiaries on its insurance portfolio

About the role

As Facilities & Governance Coordinator you will act as a first point of contact in our London office, and work in collaboration with the Governance team across their full range of activities, and consult regularly with the rest of the organisation, Trustees and Members. You will be responsible for coordinating meetings and services across the Institute and providing effective and efficient administrative support across the team.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing a professional and welcoming service to all internal and external visitors to the office.
