Situated in the Programmes, Policy & Impact Directorate, and reporting into the Head of UK Programmes, the Programme Lead, Carer Poverty Alleviation is a new role linked to the development of a new major programme operating in England, Scotland, and Wales. The Carer Poverty Alleviation Programme is a new Carers Trust programme under our strategic goal that no carer is pushed into poverty or is financially disadvantaged by their caring role.

The Programme Lead role is the fulcrum for this new partnership programme, will be comfortable to lead within and outside of the organisation and in developing a new team to drive the programme to success. The British Asian Trust is one of the most exciting and innovative charities working in South Asia. They were founded in 2007 by His Majesty King Charles III and a group of British Asian business leaders to tackle widespread poverty, inequality and injustice in South Asia. In recent years they have experienced substantial growth, with income increasing from £1m to £22m.

An estimated 172 million children in India are considered ‘at-risk’ from various forms of harm and exploitation. Children are made vulnerable by a complex network of interconnecting factors such as high levels of poverty, gender inequality, unsafe migration, cultural norms and poor implementation of schemes and laws. The Child Opportunity Fund’s goal is to create more safe spaces to ensure that millions of children can live their lives to the fullest potential. To achieve this, they are aiming to raise $25m which will be matched by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, totalling a $50m fund.

We are looking for an exceptional philanthropic fundraising leader, with experience of leading an appeal and first-hand programme management skills, to undertake a one year maternity cover as the Interim Head of Child Opportunity Appeal. The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the appeal, working collaboratively with the team to reach their significant fundraising targets across HNWIs, trusts, institutional funders and corporate partners.

About the role

As Interim Head of Child Opportunity Appeal, you will:

• accelerate and coordinate fundraising for the Child Opportunity Appeal across a diversified range of high value income streams in the UK, India, Dubai and globally;
• drive and implement the fundraising strategy, ensuring KPIs are monitored and met;
• coordinate internal working groups as well as external senior volunteers to ensure a consistent and aligned approach to fundraising and new donor engagement;
• produce effective prospect research and robust donor pipelines to secure major donations at the 6 and 7-figure level from HNWIs, corporates, trusts, foundations and institutional funders;
• ensure all donors and partners receive first-class stewardship and relationship management, working closely with in-country, programmes and communications colleagues to produce compelling proposals, reports and updates;
• support the CEO to manage the partnership with the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation;
• develop and deliver strong engagement opportunities and leverage cultivation event and project visit opportunities;
• contribute to financial planning and reporting, and develop processes and systems for effective fundraising and stewardship.

• Demonstrable experience of operating in a senior philanthropic leadership role with a strategic mindset and high levels of ambition

• Experience of running a significant philanthropic appeal/campaign, or playing a senior role in the delivery of a large project in a complex organisation

We are seeking an experienced fundraiser with a passion for our mission to equip our organisation with the financial resources needed to meet our objectives as we work to scale our fundraising by growing our charitable income across all funding streams, maximising supporter engagement and fulfilling fundraising operational duties such as ensuring that we have a database that is organised, up to date and fit for purpose.

This is a new role, joining a small but growing Fundraising Team, and having a real input into our plans and strategies for the future. Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will oversee most fundraising income generation activity.

The Fundraising Manager will build positive relationships to secure significant income and develop new relationships specifically with churches and individuals, bringing in regular and targeted income through regular donations, fundraising campaigns and events. The ideal candidate will have fundraising experience covering several areas including Individual Giving; Churches, Fundraising Appeals/Campaigns as well as experience in managing the operational aspects of fundraising (database, compliance with codes of practice and fundraising regulations, creating fundraising campaigns and ‘asks’). Through this, you will assist the whole organisation in our commitment to showing kindness, raising self-belief, and inspiring hope for the future in the individuals we serve. 

Main duties and responsibilities

Fundraising Overview

1. Develop, deliver, and monitor a fundraising strategy for Pecan.

2. Maximise the contributions and connections with local churches and individuals.

3. Coordinate all Appeals including the Pecan and Foodbank Christmas fundraising campaigns and Big Give Campaigns across all income and media streams.

4. Research and utilise new fundraising streams and opportunities across Pecan such as Payroll Giving, Legacies, in Memory Giving and Online Giving.

Supporter Engagement and Stewardship

1. Establish systems, procedures, proactive stewardship, and an engagement programme to provide the highest levels of service to Pecan’s supporters.

2. To be responsible for thanking all supporters and managing a supporter engagement journey – ensuring that effective processes are in place and driving levels of satisfaction and loyalty.

3. Act as the ‘first point of call’ for all supporters and managing complaints and issues, ensuring they are reported centrally within agreed procedures, that they are resolved or escalated as necessary and maintaining excellent communication with supporters throughout these processes.

4. Develop and implement stewardship programmes including reactivation of lapsed donors.

Database Management

1. Assist with setting up our CRM database with responsibility of developing and maintaining the database, ensuring efficient, appropriate data capture and analysis for the purpose of effective stewardship, fundraising and communications.

2. Maintain data management standards, assisting with the implementation of processes and policies ensuring best practice is followed.

3. Train other staff members to be able to use the database sufficiently.

4. Ensure all records, fundraising data and fundraising administration is kept up to date and all information is GDPR-compliant.

5. Reconcile fundraising income with the Finance Manager, including Gift Aid claims, missed, failed payments and Direct Debit cancellations.

Individual Giving

1. Develop an Individual Giving and Acquisition strategy that drives growth for individual giving across multi-channel campaigns and initiatives.

2. Lead all individual giving streams such as direct mail appeals, online donations, regular campaigns and appeals to maximise income generation.

3. Work with the Marketing Manager on fundraising communication and to ensure donors are kept up to date on the difference their support makes.

4. Develop campaigns and messaging that engages new segments and audiences.

Church Giving

1. Inspire churches to journey with us as we transform lives in Peckham.

2. Pioneer and develop a broad range of relationships with churches, organisations, and denominations across Southwark.

3. Work strategically with denominations to inspire partnership and engagement with Pecan across their networks and congregations.

4. Build a team of speakers who will host and speak at meetings with churches and Christian networks in Southwark.

5. Be willing to represent Pecan at external events, including Christian exhibitions and festivals, church talks etc…

6. Increase income from churches.

Fundraising Appeals and Campaigns

1. Work alongside teams and Partnerships Manager to project manage fundraising appeals and campaigns including Pecan at 35yrs; Christmas Campaigns etc.

2. Overall responsibility for Big Give Campaigns.

3. Oversight of Enthuse campaign pages.

4. Establish a corporate fundraising strategy with an accompanying narrative, alongside the Partnerships Manager, to explain the work of Pecan to potential company supporters.

5. Tailor campaigns and appeals for different audiences and supporters alongside Partnerships Manager to target corporates; smaller local businesses; individuals and churches.

Staff and Volunteers

1. Support with recruiting fundraising volunteers as appropiate.

2. Management of a part time Partnerships Manager with responsibility.

3. Work closely with Head of Services and Head of Food Services to ensure all fundraising is coordinated.

Wider organisational responsibilities

· Attend Pecan team meetings as and when required, including meetings where there may be a time of prayer and reflection.

· Read and adhere to all policies and procedures.

· Lead on applications to charitable trusts or statutory bodies with support from the Head of Services.

· Undertake responsibilities associated with being a member of the Pecan team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Research and Identification of Funders

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of our research projects and research funding plans, including in response to requests from Heads of Department and Senior Management Team;
• Research, identify and prioritise potential grants, personal & institutional trusts and statutory funders and funding opportunities, including keeping up to date with new fundraising opportunities in the faith and heritage sectors and in London;

Fundraising

• Secure funding from UK trusts, foundations and statutory funding bodies to meet Budgetary targets and support proposed future projects at the Cathedral;
• Support the implementation of a trusts and foundations programme, with a view to increasing funding for flagship projects alongside core unrestricted funding;
• Assist with the organisation of fundraising events as required;
• Ensure approaches to trusts and other donors are streamlined and targeted.

Contact and Liaison

• Manage the Cathedral’s donor records including gift aid declarations, personal information and legacy pledges and other non-financial information provided by donors - adhering to data protection best practice at all times;
• Liaise with the Marketing & Communications Manager to analyse the existing donor communications and suggest improved methods of engagement;
• Liaise with the Marketing & Communications Manager to arrange for the creation and maintenance of pages on the Cathedral website that highlight the fundraising activity and communicate successes achieved;
• Act as the primary point of contact for all existing and potential trust and grants funders, directing enquiries as appropriate;
• Develop a network of strong relationships with existing and prospective grant, trust and statutory funders;
• Organise meetings and events for prospective supporters and provide briefings for colleagues.

Information Management, Monitoring and Evaluation

• Maintain the Cathedral’s fundraising database, ensuring all records are updated and maintained correctly in accordance with the Cathedral’s data protection policy;
• Manage the reporting, recording and administration progress of existing grants, advising relevant members of the team well in advance of reporting deadlines;
• Work with others to develop and implement effective evaluation, monitoring and reporting processes for funders, and ensure reporting requirements are fulfilled and activities remain outcome and impact focused;
• Manage and maintain records and monitor progress of applications and relationships, including working to agreed KPIs;
• Prepare regular progress reports on fundraising and activities for SMT and the Chapter as required;
• Use the Cathedral’s fundraising database to analyse the success rates to support fundraising strategy and individual projects;
• Work with the Finance team to ensure that all funding is quickly and correctly processed and acknowledged and that financial reports are available in the appropriate format;
• Work with the Governance & Committees Manager and Finance Team to support reporting requirements and compliance with the relevant legislation and codes of conduct;
• Work with the COO and Marketing & Communications Manager to create appropriate evaluation and legacy documentation.

Other

• Manage the relevant administration that accompanies this role, including booking meetings and taking minutes as required;
• Play an active role as a member of the Cathedral team, supporting each other as required;
• Be an ambassador for the Cathedral and assist the Fundraising Advisory Panel in developing positive relationships with the Cathedral’s key stakeholders.

Person Specification

Knowledge/Experience

• You will have experience of writing fundraising bids and completing engaging applications;
• You will have knowledge and experience of heritage, community or religious grant-funding sources and how to access them;

Terms and Conditions

Working Hours

The working hours shall be 35 hours per week (exclusive of meal breaks). Some out of hours working will be required to support meetings and events and this will be notified in advance. Time off in lieu will be awarded in line with Southwark Cathedral’s policy.

Annual Leave

25 days per annum as well as statutory bank holidays, with an additional 5 days (pro-rata) after 10 years service. 

Probation

The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.

Season Ticket Loan

Once the probationary period has been completed satisfactorily, the person appointed will be eligible to take out a season ticket loan.

Pension

The person appointed will be eligible to join a defined contributions pension scheme managed by the Church Workers Pension Fund. The Cathedral will contribute half of the annual premium of 10% of salary.

Working Expenses

Reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

The Partnership Manager role will report to the CEO and sit within the Business Development Team.

The Partnership Manager will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities in order to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow. You will have a clear ability to tailor the way we sell our services to potential clients.

You will lead and support others across the company to communicate our service offering to external stakeholders that will directly contribute to the company’s growth strategy and impact.

The Partnership Manager will also be a key member of the department and contribute to, departmental strategies, systems and maximising efficiency, and communicating our brand values and services that attracts a wide range of clients.

In this role, you will work closely with the Digital Communications and Marketing, Monitoring and Evaluation, Programme and Finance teams.

Essential Experience

• Have a minimum 5 years sales and client relationship experience

• Proven success in a similar role, with a track record of securing income through multi-year partnerships

• Strong relationship management skills, particularly within the education and/or corporate sector.

As Trusts and Foundations Officer, you will be responsible for maximising income from grant-giving organisations to ensure sustainable growth of restricted and unrestricted fundraising. You will work strategically to build high-impact, high-value relationships with grant funders as well as managing relationships with existing donors. You will also be collaborating with teams across the organisation to create compelling fundraising proposals and produce high-quality reports and budgets.

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• Track record of securing grants from charitable Trusts and Foundations
• Experience working with other internal departments to maximise collaboration and impact between the teams.
• Experience building and managing relationships with external funders, including in depth research of funders.

This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis paying a salary of £35,904 per annum. The position can be either fully remote, hybrid or fully based at their Colchester offices.
The Institutional Trusts and Fundraising Manager will provide strategic oversight and direction for Lepra’s institutional fundraising function to deliver on the restricted and unrestricted income targets. The postholder will be line managing and leading the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser in the delivery of the trust fundraising target, and working with the programmes teams in the UK, India and Bangladesh to identify and develop applications to statutory sources and major trusts, leading on the development of detailed project proposals.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of working in statutory and/or trusts fundraising, including successfully applying for grants in excess of £50,00 to £100,000+. You will have a demonstrable track record of high quality bid writing and production that meet funder requirements.

We are looking to recruit a Philanthropy Manager to maximise income secured from Major Gifts and to work with the Director of Fundraising on the strategic development of Philanthropic Giving at the Centre. This is an exciting role in our Fundraising Team that will manage existing philanthropic donor relationships, working closely with the Director of Fundraising and Chief Executive. You will also develop a Philanthropic fundraising campaign to uplift income for the Centre’s 40th Anniversary through 2026, working with the Director of Fundraising.

The Partnerships Manager will manage a portfolio of commercial and fundraising accounts totalling c.£250k, as well as some new business development. The portfolio includes a £60k per annum CRM relationship with Plum & Ashby, focused around the Wave of Light candle campaign for Baby Loss Awareness week, with lots of influencer and comms engagement. The new business element will support the Senior Partnerships Manager and the Head of Corporate in their new strategy for increased brand, strategic and coty partnerships.

Key responsibilities:

• Account manage and build strong relationships with corporate partners at a 5-figure+ level
• Create and deliver high quality account management and stewardship plans for your accounts
• Build strong relationships with all key stakeholders internally and externally
• Take a proactive role in developing and nurturing a pipeline of new opportunities

Essential criteria:

• Experience of fundraising in a charity setting – ideally in corporate partnerships, although we’d also be open to transferable skills from trusts, major donors or community fundraising
• Successfully managing funder relationships at a 5-figure+ level
• Experience owning and delivering upon a fundraising target and KPIs
• Takes initiative, results driven, proactive, empathetic and collaborative qualities
