About the Department/Role

The National Society for Education (NSE) is both an NCI and a Royal-charter charity. It's aims are to support Church schools and the wider education sector by developing leaders, shaping policy and growing faith.

The NSE leads the Church of England's national work in education in partnership with 41 Diocesan Boards of Education and approximately 4,700 Church of England schools. We also support the national education work of the Church in Wales, which includes around 150 schools. Our presence extends to work with community schools and academy trusts, as well as higher and further education through numerous chaplaincies, providing spiritual support and guidance to children and young people, and to adults.

The Church of England's Vision and Strategy for the 2020s has three priorities, one of which is to be a church which is younger and more diverse. As part of this, the House of Bishops want to ensure that a flourishing children, youth and families ministry is within reach of every young person in England.

The NSE is working with the Vision and Strategy team to help deliver this vision through a range of projects in our 'growing faith' pillar which focus on the intersection between church, home and school; aiming to develop the faith life of children and young people, whilst also growing young leaders.

We are a dynamic team, working remotely from our homes around the country. We gather regularly online, and also have in-person team days through the year.

What you'll be doing

The purpose of this role is to provide strategic oversight for the engagement, sustainability and impact of a range of national leadership development programmes and experiences for young leaders (4-18) and young adults (18-25) including the Archbishops' Young Leaders Award, the Flourishing Young Leaders programme, the Christian Young Leaders pathway and Young Voices at General Synod. To lead a curriculum development and delivery team across these programmes to ensure that children and young people are placed instinctively at the heart of the mission of the church, and that developing flourishing young people is at the heart of the mission of schools, school trusts and dioceses.

About Now Teach 

Now Teach is at a pivotal time in its strategic journey, following a hugely successful media and bridging fundraising campaign that has raised over £3m in new income for 2024-2026 and achieved 32 media mentions (15 national) and 2.5m PR views. We are now seeking to significantly grow our donor base and fundraised income and therefore are looking to recruit to this new role. We are seeking someone who can support the Director of Philanthropy and Communications to deliver our strategy to increase income through the recruitment of new donors and enable and deliver work with our current funders (primarily individuals and trusts). You’ll be the person to ensure they have an amazing experience as supporters of Now Teach.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

Role overview 

This role will be varied and offer lots of opportunities to get stuck into managing relationships with high value donors. Both the CEO, and the Director of Fundraising and Communications will work to steward the relationships with our donors in person, while this role will lead on delivering high-quality preparation, proposals, reporting, and data management that underpin donor relationships. You will also contribute to building connections across teams and aligning fundraising activities with Now Teach’s wider strategy. 

You’ll deliver exciting and engaging communications and events which inspire our donors to continue to support our cause, as well as be responsible for maintaining accurate records and reporting so we can give supporters a great sense of the impact their donations make. This role will work on a combination of externally facing and internal projects and tasks and will be a great way to advance your career in fundraising.

In this role you will…

• Create and maintain a stewardship calendar of content, reports, and events to engage our donors, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities. 

• Write and produce proposals and applications for funding from major donors and trusts, in collaboration with programme and recruitment teams, championing user-centred thinking by representing participant and school impact in fundraising materials. 

• Write and produce reports with in-depth detail of what we have achieved as a result of the funding from our donors 

• Create an engaging termly supporter newsletter, sharing insights across the organisation to drive stronger engagement. 

• Manage and own the fundraising database, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and supporting colleagues to use data effectively. 

• Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate reporting of gifts

Community Organising

Through our theory of social change, called community organising, we train thousands of everyday people to lead change in their communities, equipping them with the skills to hold politicians and other powerholders to account. We are made up of 500+ member organisations in powerful alliances throughout the UK. Our members include schools, universities, faith groups, parents’ groups, health practices, charities, trade unions and other civil society organisations. 

Purpose 

At Citizens UK, our organisers and project staff work within communities to develop leaders, strengthen organisations, campaign for change and organise across difference. There are various project roles and operational, communication, finance and HR roles that support the organisation and project staff and organisers to deliver on this mission and work. This work is rewarding and can be challenging; it requires a personal commitment to inclusion, a willingness to listen and disagree respectfully, and an interest in working in an organisation where our staff, member institutions and leaders will come from a diversity of backgrounds and often hold views that may be very different from our own. Main Responsibilities 

A Senior Organiser is mastering the craft of community organising and taking increasing responsibility for developing major campaigns, managing budgets and managing staff. They operate with a high degree of independence and are significant contributors to CUK-wide functions such as training.  Senior Organisers model the broad-based community organising methodology in their work including the building of relational power, the recruitment and retention of dues-paying institutions, the development of leaders, the strengthening of member institutions, leader-led public actions, and the winning of systemic change. 

You will bring communities together to drive change both locally, regionally, and nationally. This role will work closely with local civic institutions, such as churches, mosques, schools, universities, unions and other community groups to: 

• develop the leadership of people within those organisations - our 'leaders' who lead the campaigns we work on 

• help them identify the changes they want to see and create strategies to win those changes 

• strengthen institutions’ own abilities to achieve their missions. 

This includes listening to members of the community to find common issues, engaging local decision-makers through meetings, and planning in-person ‘actions’, where you might hold those in power to account. All of this work is underpinned by the knowledge that everyday people have the ability to shape the world around them. This work will be rooted locally, but you will be a part of a bigger national drive to make change alongside diverse local alliances across the UK. In Essex, the work is currently focusing on the first Mayoral Election for the County but you will also work on other campaign priorities that are developed through the institutions you work with. 

Working as a Senior Organiser for Citizens UK, reporting to Regional Supervisor for the South of England, your main responsibilities will include:

• Develop and grow strong working relationships with power players at a county-wide level or sector, including journalists; taking the initiative to establish new relationships as required 

• Conduct one-to-one relational meetings in order to develop relationships with leaders; demonstrating timely and effective agitation to stimulate action 

• Work effectively with local journalists and media outlets to further CUK’s goals 

• Develop a strategic plan to enhance people’s participation in public life as well as enhance non-partisan political and democratic practices across Essex. 

• Develop a strategy built on an acute sense of how communities and institutions behave within, and across, the cultures and contexts of Essex.  

• Develop a plan that enables clear and impactful cross-institutional collaboration across Essex. 

Identify and develop relational leaders prepared to act with others for the common good

Our Organisers and some project teams work closely with our member institutions and will be expected to attend member events that take place in the evenings and occasional weekends. We operate a Time Off in Lieu approach and have very flexible working arrangements to ensure a good work-life balance. 

Please note that the role is Essex-wide and, as such, there is a practical expectation that the successful candidate will be able to drive between key locations across the county (with associated mileage costs being covered by Citizens UK).

Digital Inclusion Coordinator 

Age Uk Westminster is seeking a Digital Inclusion Coordinator to join our community based inclusion team funded by Central North West London NHS Foundation Trust.

The Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster Social Isolation project supports and enhances existing Older Adult Mental Health services provided by CNWL by providing targeted outreach digital inclusion support to vulnerable older people with the aim of reducing the impact of loneliness and isolation. We are looking for someone who has confident Digital Inclusion experience and ideally some experience of working with people living with dementia.

The role will include providing intensive coaching, support and troubleshooting with IT skills and equipment as well as working closely with Age UK Westminster’s other services including digital inclusion group sessions and dementia activities. The role will demand a division of time in the office and in clients’ homes in Westminster.

JOB PURPOSE 

This exciting role focuses on raising income for the Start Network and its global initiatives, including the Start Fund, Start Ready, innovation and the expansion of a locally led network. The postholder will be an experienced trusts and / or corporate fundraiser who wants a role focused on business and relationship development. They will be responsible for an exciting portfolio of existing and prospective funders (that give 6-7 figure grants), adopting a relational approach to fundraising. 

You will be responsible for carrying out prospect donor mapping, growing a fundraising pipeline, building relationships with prominent foundations and corporates in the humanitarian space, writing technical proposals as required, pitching to donors well-articulated concepts, and building fundraising capacity within the organisation. 

It is critical that the postholder is comfortable with developing new relations. We have grown a significant number of new donors within our Foundations and Corporates over the last few years, and we hope to continue the growth of the team in this exciting role, so proof of having grown an income stream is key.

Finally, the Partnerships Funding Advisor will sit within a team of 4 focusing on strengthening and increasing the philanthropic portfolio and will work alongside the Partnerships Engagement Officer, one other Partnerships Funding Advisor and will report to the Partnerships Manager.

Oak Hill College is seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Facilities and Site Administrator toprovide vital administrative and coordination support across our estate, accommodation, and facilities services.

Reporting directly to the Facilities & Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day systems that keep our site compliant and efficient. About the role

We’re looking for someone who has experience in marketing, communications and engagement for events, gala lunches, fundraising products and campaigns. The Role

As Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the financial strategy and operations of LTM, ensuring robust financial management, governance, and performance. This role goes beyond traditional finance leadership. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and management of LTM’s overall budget, ensuring financial sustainability across short, medium, and long-term goals
• Oversee all aspects of financial control, governance, reporting, and compliance with statutory, charity, and TfL requirements
• Deliver timely and accurate statutory accounts, budgets, forecasts, and management reports
• Lead business support functions and liaise with TfL departments including HR, Procurement, Reward, Tech and Data and Finance

Purpose:

The finance department is going through an exciting period of transformation. Working alongside the Chief Financial Officer and the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, this role will help shape the strategy and delivery of excellent forward-facing financial planning, statutory and regulatory reporting, costing and client asset management.

Role:

Accountabilities:

• Build and develop a strong finance operations function with robust internal and external controls through active line management and regular training

• Drive the annual statutory reporting process - developing a clear timeline, planning and negotiating with our internal communications team to deliver a high quality annual report for Trustee approval and sign off

• Lead the external audit process, negotiating fees, timetables and take the lead role in all meetings with the Audit Partner and their team. Use judgement to consider whether audit responses should be challenged or accepted. Prepare action plans and report audit findings to the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee.

• Oversee the CASS annual audit process, which includes negotiating fees, timetables and take the lead role in all meetings with the Audit Partner and their team. Use judgement to consider whether audit responses should be challenged or accepted. Prepare action plans and report audit findings to the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee. 

• Develop and deliver comprehensive and insightful regular balance sheet reporting and forecasting (capital expenditure, cashflow, liabilities and reserves) to support the financial sustainability of CAP, highlighting risks or opportunities to enable informed decision making by Executive Team and the Board

• Identify and implement process and system improvements, shaping and improving the effectiveness of the finance operations team. 

• Take the leading role in the finance ledger system replacement procurement, design & implementation

• Provide support to ensure key operational and financial targets are delivered

• Develop, recommend and implement cash and capital management systems and reporting

• Provide assessments of capital expenditure business cases and strategic opportunities to support and influence decision making

• Support the month end and annual accounting processes to ensure accurate reporting of the financial performance

• Advise the Chief Financial Officer on technical areas of expertise, undertaking research as required, in particular financial reporting, VAT and tax.

• Provide financial accounting advice and support to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis in the preparation of budgets

• Submission of all mandatory external surveys and reports as required by deadlines (ONS, FCA etc)

• Manager is proactive in creating a culture of personal development in the team, including but not limited to conducting Annual Appraisals and Development Reviews (AADs), and coaching style catch ups for every direct report

• Manager has excellent written and verbal communication skills and can tailor these to the audience and situation as needed

• Consistently and professionally articulates the needs of the team to wider stakeholders, whether as part of specific projects or business-as-usual tasks

• Manager is able to balance team workloads, boundaries and health using appropriate and effective strategic methods such as LEAN, problem definition and ideation tools

• Budgets (capital and other items)  delivered on time and within budget

• Objectives agreed annually delivered as planned

• Monthly reporting pack delivered to the agreed timetable

• Finance transformation programme delivered successfully

• Successful completion of the annual statutory audit process

• Identification of further improvements needed to financial processes and controls as appropriate

• Delivery of new chart of accounts structure 

• Balance sheet & Cash Flow - annual, monthly and quarterly - including forecasts

• Statutory returns completed on time

• Effective regular 1:1 meetings held with direct reports

Education:

• Qualified Accountant (CCAB) with Post Qualification Experience

• Degree or professional level education

Experience:

Essential

• At least 3 years experience at a senior level within a finance/accountancy environment

• Senior level financial accounting experience

• Experience of reviewing controls & processes

• Experience of leading the annual accounts & audit process

• Experience of leading teams to meet key objectives or targets

Desirable

• Senior level financial accounting experience in a not-for-profit organisation

• Experience of installing/upgrading accounting systems

• Prior experience of working in a CASS 11 environment 

Skills/abilities:

• A strategic thinker, able to plan and forecast with an exceptional level of organisational awareness.

• Ability to interpret technical accounting regulations into everyday language

• Demonstrable effective influencing skills at a senior level

• Significant understanding of financial control and risk
