Food Project Coordinator

This role will primarily coordinate our growing food club project, Bristol Goods, but will also provide support for our other services that utilize food to engage people in support and build community connections. 

Caring in Bristol has a legacy of food-based projects; from our inception as Caring at Christmas, through to Cheers Drive, our pandemic response service. We have a fantastic network in the city’s food and hospitality sector which enables us to work in creative ways to alleviate housing insecurity. 

As Food Project Coordinator, you will play a central role in organising our food club operations and ensuring Caring in Bristol upholds food safety standards. A significant part of the role will be centred around building relationships with our food club members and the volunteers that help deliver the service. 

The postholder will also have the opportunity to contribute to other food-centred activity within the charity, including food provided to our young people’s services and Caring at Christmas. 
 

Key responsibilities 

The workload for the role is split in approximately the proportions: 

~60% of the role 

Food logistics and coordination  

• Support the Senior Project Coordinator to oversee the sourcing, supply and distribution of food, ensuring a consistent and balanced provision of fresh and ambient products for service users each week. This includes driving the Caring in Bristol van (full UK driving licence essential).

• Coordinate and monitor the stock of food, ensuring there’s always sufficient stock levels to cover all the food clubs

• Coordinate the weekly Fareshare delivery and sorting/preparation of food in line with organisational procedures 

• Support the Bristol Goods Team to uphold food safety management within the organisation, ensuring our warehouse space is adequately clean and organised at all times 

• Manage Bristol Goods volunteers on shift to ensure they understand how to carry out their role safely, and enjoy their experience

• Supervise the on-site running of the food clubs on a Rota basis with other Caring in Bristol staff. This does involve cash handling and taking payments.

• Support Senior Project Coordinator to form working relationships with our food suppliers and food sector contacts, and seek out potential new opportunities that could benefit the resilience and breadth of Caring in Bristol’s food offer 

• Supporting the delivery of our other food projects including Bristol Youth Goods. 

• Follow organisational safeguarding, health and safety, data protection, COSSH and van procedures.

Food Club Member Support 

• Interact with members and signpost them to relevant services within Caring in Bristol, in the local community, and city wide.

• Keep up to date with support services across the city to provide appropriate signposting and referrals. 

• Provide support and build relationships with Food Club members through informal check-ins and identify those who may be experiencing challenges impacting their housing or wellbeing. Provide appropriate assistance, including but not limited to, form filling, applying to external volunteering opportunities or training and referring to additional services.

• Uphold the safety and safeguarding of members in the delivery and development of the Bristol Goods service.

• Record members’ attendance, support provided and engagement on our database in line with data protection policies and regulations. 

• Take ownership of our community noticeboard, sharing opportunities and support options in the area.

Other Responsibilities 

• Organisational development work, including; attendance at team meetings, safeguarding reviews and participating in the volunteer support and training. 

• Follow Caring in Bristol policies and procedures and observe our Code of Conduct. 

• Actively participate in and attend supervisions, reflective practice, annual appraisal processes and identified training. 

• Promote the aims and objectives of the charity and present a positive image of Caring in Bristol through good public relations, communications with visitors, young people, guests, people who use our services and the local community.

We’re recruiting an Investment Manager to identify, assess and manage impact investment opportunities. You will also work with other teams to help develop the social impact investment market in the UK, working with investors, social enterprises and government.

What you will do:

Support the development of new investment opportunities, including:

• Helping identify social issues or market needs where social impact investment can be an important part of the solution;

Lead prospective investments through our investment process, including:

• Project and relationship management, including supporting pipeline development and tracking;

• Undertaking detailed investment analysis, including of the market, the prospective investee, and the financial, social impact and systems change cases;

• Preparing and presenting investment recommendations to our Investment Committee;

• Helping negotiate legal documents and close transactions.

This role will start in either our social lending & ventures areas with the potential to rotate across asset classes over time.

Manage a number of our existing portfolio investments, including:

• Working with the fund managers to evaluate and manage their financial and social impact performance;

• Supporting and co-ordinating fund manager reporting to enable us to assess the contribution of the investments to our systems change, impact and financial goals across our portfolio and in the relevant asset classes;

• Supporting the design and undertake of analysis on impact and financial performance across portfolios of investments, including across asset classes and impact themes.

Systems change agent:

• Supporting the development and delivery of key strategic projects in BSC’s asset classes and strategic areas of focus, moving towards leadership of strands depending on experience and learning over time

• Managing relationships with and help the long-term business development of fund managers

• Supporting our engagement work with investors and with charities and social enterprises to deliver on our strategic goals

About the Role

Headway East London is looking for a compassionate and motivated Community Support Worker to support adults living with brain injury across our 13 London borough catchment area. You will support members in their own homes and local communities. This is a varied, people-focused role where you will work one to one in the community, helping individuals live with greater independence, confidence and choice.

We have 3 available positions, two permanent contracts and a one fixed term contract for 12 months (maternity cover).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Conduct support sessions to a regular caseload of members in the community as a lone worker with remote office assistance.
2. You will work to maximise and maintain their autonomy and independence in their home environment or within the local community.
3. You will work collaboratively with the member to plan, organise and implement daily activities by developing daily and weekly structure and wellbeing plans.
4. You will be responsible for being the first responder, with remote manager support, in the event of any incidents, safeguarding issues or behaviour that challenges during support sessions.
5. Accompany and support members to appointments with health and statutory care providers and provide accurate notes for future reference.
6. Accompany and support members to access social, leisure, educational and vocational activities in the community.
7. Maintain a maximum income for members through completing benefit and grant entitlement and assist with financial budgeting.
8. Provide appropriate and relevant advice, information and advocacy to members and their families. Where appropriate liaise with other professionals and statutory and non-statutory organisations to make referrals or signpost to appropriate support services.
9. Maintain accurate and factual monitoring notes on our online database and report any incidents.
10. Conduct and monitor specific therapy / support / rehabilitation and risk management plans in accordance with case managers, therapists and other cprofessionals as required.

Due to an expansion in our work to provide training and e-learning to raise awareness of unpaid carers and of the issues and challenges they face with a range of professionals, we are excited to recruit a Training and Learning Officer to lead our work in this area. The post holder will develop, maintain and deliver a suite of e-learning, and in person and online training.

You’ll be experienced in conducting research and analysing data with an understanding of the issues impacting carers, and the systems in which they operate. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a well-regarded and innovative project contributing to achieving positive outcomes for some of the most vulnerable families in England and beyond whose sick children are being treated at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital (GOSH) We also provide an ‘open door’ service to our GOSH partners such as social workers and family support officers in our areas of expertise.

You will be expected to deliver high quality holistic advice and in-depth casework to families with children who are patients at GOSH across all Citizens Advice issue areas and this will include complex housing issues and with benefits cases up to appeal level.

What you will bring to the role

• Relevant experience of client-centred advice work with competency in welfare benefits and housing casework.
• Experience of researching complex advice issues including those outside of your advice experience
• Meet the accreditation requirements to the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) quality framework to advice and casework levels. Documentary evidence of accreditation will be required.

Being available onsite is an important aspect of this role and so this role is hybrid working.The exact split between remote/onsite working will be by agreement with the line manager and to meet the needs of the project which could change over time. This role is not suitable for remote working only.

Main Responsibilities: 

Providing comprehensive immigration advice: on various immigration matters, including  visa applications, settlement, asylum claims, and appeals within IAA Level 2 guidelines. 

Conduct or delegate initial and further consultations with clients to assess their immigration  advice eligibility and specific needs. 

Finding and managing caseload: by setting up a triaging and appointments system for  proactively identifying refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants, including people here 

under the Home Office Homes for Ukraine Scheme and related extension scheme, needing  Level 1 or 2 immigration advice throughout Shropshire Telford and Wrekin.

This will include inviting people to our offices in Shrewsbury and to outreach sessions across  Shropshire Telford and Wrekin and will require you to set and stay within meaningful 

deadlines. 

Maintain accurate records: by handling multiple cases efficiently and recording all client  contacts, reflecting the advice given and outcome for each person. 

Keep up-to-date with changes in immigration law: via professional training and standards  and changes to those standards. 

Supervise and train: our Level 1 adviser, other colleagues and relevant volunteers. 

Collaborate: with colleagues, volunteers and representatives of partner organizations to  ensure the immigration and other advice needs of clients are effectively met. 

These responsibilities will require you to: 

● Maintain accurate and detailed records and case files, with due regard to data protection law and professional standards. 

● Build and maintain strong relationships with clients. 

● Advocate on behalf of clients by communication with appropriate agencies, by telephone, letter and email. 

● Attend training events relating to asylum and immigration. 

● Actively engage in seeking work and promoting good governance within SSR. ● Ensure that clients’ need for other services and referrals, including safeguarding, are effectively met by discussion with colleagues and

Person Specification: 

Essential: 

● IAA Level 2 accreditation - held for at least 12 months 

● Significant experience working as an Immigration Adviser or similar role

● In-depth knowledge of IAA standards, UK immigration law, relevant related policies,  and procedures 

● Exceptional and written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the  ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds 

● Empathy and compassion, particularly with SSR’s cause 

● Strong, self-directed time management with the ability to manage multiple cases and  work to strict deadlines. 

● Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively
