We are the only UK-wide charity andfree membership organisation for everyone affected by a genetic bleeding disorder. We aim to empower people affected by a bleeding disorder to live life to the fullest; offering support, including events and local groups, the latest news and in-depth information resources, and campaigning and advocacy to demand the best possible care, safe and effective treatment, and equitable access for everyone affected by a bleeding disorder.

There are over 5,000 members of the Haemophilia Society, including people and families living with bleeding disorders, as well as healthcare professionals. The charity’s supporters help fundraise the costs that are vitally needed to be able to offer membership – and services such as events and printed publications – entirely free to all members.

About the role

The Finance Manager will ensure the smooth, accurate, and compliant day-to-day financial operations of THS. You will oversee transactional processing, payroll, local group accounting, management of our partner charity accounts, creating monthly management reports and year-end audit preparation.

Job Purpose: This role is pivotal in enabling THS to deliver its mission and meet its strategic objectives.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

· Accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW, CIPFA, AAT).

· Good working knowledge of Access CRM is desirable.

· Experience of working with Stripe, PayPal, Wordpress, SumUp and Apron are desirable.

· Experience of working in a similar role is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

· Income & Reconciliations: Responsible for income processing, including banking of cash, and processing and tracking of CAF and Stewardship vouchers.  Work with the Office Team to correctly identify bank donations and general transactions.

· Database & Bank Matching: Managing Xero - Access reconciliations and monthly bank, credit card and petty cash reconciliations.

· Gift Aid: Support Gift Aid processing.

· Expenditure Processing: Responsible for expenditure processing, including staff and volunteer expenses, purchase invoices, and associated filing.

· Xero Processing: Responsible for Xero processing, including input of expense claims, purchase invoices and purchase payments, bank payments, invoices, invoice receipts, uploading bank entries, and associated filing.

· Supplier & Customer Management: Set up suppliers/customers, oversee debtors, answer queries, make corrections, and export Trial Balance.

· Payroll & Pensions: Responsible for payroll (Paycircle Payroll) and pension processes.

· Local Group & Partner Charity Accounts: Responsible for financial activities in local groups and partner charity.

· Asset Tracking: Managing the Fixed Asset Register, and all physical assets.

· Reporting & Audit: Prepare audit preparation and year end accounts, budget and forecasts for the finance year.

· Management Accounts: Prepare monthly Management Reports to be presented to the Board of Trustees.

· Ad-Hoc Support: Handle other ad-hoc financial enquiries from staff, trustees, young ambassadors and volunteers.

· General: General office administration duties and finance support.

· Travel to events: Willing and able to work occasional evenings / weekends and travel to support THS events across the UK.

The successful candidate will provide essential operational, administrative and coordination support to the Faith and Community Development Team, working closely with the London Partnerships and Development Lead. The successful candidate will lead the development and delivery of Housing Justice’s national quality improvement, training and best practice work for community and faith-based homelessness services across England. You will oversee the continued development of the Quality Mark accreditation scheme for emergency accommodation providers, lead the creation of a new Quality Framework for day services, develop an Emergency Accommodation Toolkit, and deliver training, learning events and communities of practice. 

The postholder will provide leadership to a small team, with line management responsibility for up to two members of staff, and will work closely with partners to strengthen service quality, safety, effectiveness and sustainability across the sector.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Head of Operations oversees all of BIAS’s projects, managing a small, high-performing team of project coordinators and frontline advice and community-support staff to ensure that we provide the highest-quality service to our clients. You will need to have demonstrable team-management experience, strong people and communication skills, and a willingness to take a hands-on approach to project delivery, along with excellent organisational and strategic abilities to ensure that projects are delivered sustainably, effectively and efficiently.

In 2025, BIAS expanded its successful Brent-based advice service and active ageing clubs into Haringey borough. The Head of Operations will take the lead on further building and developing the new services in Haringey, ensuring that we replicate our excellent quality of service, strong record of positive outcomes and loyal service-user base.

This is a key role within the BIAS senior leadership team, which will give you the opportunity to have a direct impact on shaping the organisation’s future strategy and direction.

KEY WORK AREAS AND MAIN DUTIES

Staff management

• Manage a team of five project coordinators and five front-line staff to ensure effective delivery and monitoring of BIAS’s core welfare and housing advice, active ageing, volunteering and befriending projects, which support over 900 people per year.
• Manage HR procedures, including employment contracts, probation assessment, leave administration, staff supervision, performance management and exit procedures.
• Conduct recruitment procedures where needed, and supervise the onboarding process for new joiners.
• Oversee training and development needs and budgets.
• Ensure good teamwork and lines of communication between staff, including by chairing regular staff meetings.
• Create a positive working environment in which equity and diversity are promoted and staff can do their best.

Project management

• Project-manage the further development of new advice and active ageing services in Haringey borough.
• Take the lead on promotion and marketing of BIAS’s services, including by representing the charity to partner organisations and at external events.
• Contribute to the organisation and running of regular community and fundraising events.
• Deputise for the Advice Services Manager where needed, supporting the welfare and housing advisers with complex casework, forward planning and client management.
• Support the Active Ageing Coordinators and volunteer teams wherever needed with the day-to-day running of the active ageing clubs.

Quality and service delivery

• Oversee quality-assurance procedures in line with the Advice Quality Standard (AQS), and spearhead biannual renewal of BIAS’s AQS accreditation.
• Oversee running of BIAS’s volunteer project in line with the Investing in Volunteers quality accreditation standards.
• Serve as internal data protection officer, monitoring GDPR compliance, managing risk and responding to any potential data breaches.
• Serve as BIAS safeguarding lead, ensuring that safeguarding policies and training are kept up to date, and that all safeguarding concerns are appropriately addressed.
• Work with the Fundraising and Communications Manager to administer the BIAS website and implement BIAS’s social media strategy.
• Administer BIAS’s IT and client management systems (Microsoft 365, SharePoint, BrightHR, Lamplight CRM), coordinating training, updates and troubleshooting.

Operational leadership

• Advise the CEO on all staffing and service-delivery issues.
• Monitor and report on service delivery, including through monthly advice and volunteer-project reports, quarterly Board reports and regular funder reports.
• Carry out regular reviews of BIAS’s annual business plan, risk register, five-year strategy and internal policies and procedures, providing recommendations to the CEO and Board of Trustees on strategic direction.
• Research and secure funding from grant-making organisations, ensuring BIAS’s future financial sustainability.
• Work closely with the Finance Manager and CEO on budgeting, grant monitoring, cashflow and financial authorisation.

These are the basic duties required of the Head of Operations. However, it is necessary for all staff to be flexible and you may be required from time to time to perform other reasonable duties which are required for the efficient running of the organisation. We will also offer training opportunities to support your career development.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK. This role will be based in our advice offices and club venues in Willesden and Haringey but there may be some options for flexible working (e.g. one day per week from home). Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.

ABOUT BIAS

BIAS is a local charity which has supported England’s largest Irish community in Brent for almost fifty years. We deliver our support through our welfare and housing advice service, our active ageing clubs, our volunteer project and our befriending scheme. We raise over £2 million in extra income for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged every year and have over 7000 attendances at our club services. BIAS has recently expanded into Haringey borough and has exciting plans to further develop its project scope and geographical reach, supported by sustainable and diversified grant funding, including from Ireland’s Emigrant Support Programme.

Location: Based within a non-residential service in Wembley, working within communities, homes, and other residentials. This is a great opportunity for a Deputy Service Manager to join our team based in Wembley. You will support the Service Manager to ensure high quality service delivery, being a key contact for staff, helping them feel supported, skilled, and empowered within their roles. In this role you will be based within a service which is at the heart of delivering person-centred support to vulnerable adults who have been, or are at risk of homelessness. This is a floating support service based in the heart of Wembley, near the Civic Centre. With a team who are dedicated to supporting our participants within their homes, communities, and in outreach based support.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Service Manager to join our service based in Romford . Our service is a Independent Approved Premises commissioned by Criminal Justice Service (IAP) based in Havering. You will support residents recently released from prison in a residential setting, helping them reintegrate into the community. In this role, you will support in leading the team by providing overall leadership to the service and line management responsibilities to support, enable, and empower your team to deliver high quality support to our residents. 

You will also support some day-to-day team responsibilities, including providing tailored support directly to residents. As a Manager, you will help drive service outcomes in line with contractual requirements, ensuring quality and consistency within a trauma‑ and psychologically informed environment. You will work collaboratively with the team, wider services, and external partners to ensure the service runs smoothly. 1. Supervise and develop Trainee Debt Advisers

Provide day-to-day line management, mentoring, coaching, technical supervision and pastoral support to Trainee Debt Advisers, enabling them to develop the competence, confidence and professional standards required to achieve accreditation and deliver high-quality debt advice. Provide the level of management expected of colleagues across the organisation and in line with internal policies and procedures.

2. Deliver learning, quality assurance and progression
Support trainees throughout the Debt Free Academy learning and accreditation pathway by delivering technical coaching, soft skills development, reviewing casework, conducting live and recorded interview observations across telephone, video and face-to-face advice, providing constructive feedback, assessing competence against agreed quality standards, and identifying learning and development needs to support timely progression.

3. Coordinate placements and partner engagement
Plan, coordinate and oversee trainee placements with Debt Free Advice delivery partners, building effective relationships with host organisations to ensure placements provide safe, high-quality learning experiences that support trainee development and programme objectives.

4. Monitor performance and manage programme delivery

Monitor trainee performance, progression and wellbeing, proactively identifying and managing risks to learning, quality or programme delivery. Contribute to programme reporting, maintain accurate records, and support the successful delivery of the Debt Free Academy against agreed milestones and quality standards.

5. Contribute to training and continuous improvement
Support the design, development, coordination and delivery of induction, policy, technical training, skills development and continuing professional development (CPD) activities across the Debt Free Advice partnership. Promote best practice, share learning, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Debt Free Academy and wider training programme.

6. Contribute to the wider Training Team
Work collaboratively with colleagues across Toynbee Hall and the Debt Free Advice partnership, undertaking additional duties as required to support the effective delivery of the Debt Free Academy, organisational objectives and funder requirements.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
