The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to become a Key Worker within our high performing psychosocial drug and alcohol service in HMP Birmingham.
We provide a range of services for those affected by drugs and alcohol. Our skilled and compassionate team work closely with people who use our services to change and save lives. We combine proven expertise in treatment and recovery with innovative approaches and actively involve those we help in improving the design of the services we provide.
You will be based in our psychosocial team working with adult males (over 18 years old). You will be responsible for delivering a range of elements of our substance use work including case management, assessments, care planning, the delivery of one-to-one interventions to include harm reduction and motivational work, group work, and engagement support as well as other associated duties. You need to be committed to supporting people who use our services to make positive changes to prepare them for release into the community, and you will arrange continuity of care. You will work in collaboration with the clinical team and integrated working is a key element of this role. You will work within the prison setting and contribute towards the wider prison drug strategy.
Having experience of supporting people with complex health needs including substance use, you will bring knowledge and commitment to deliver drug and alcohol treatment. You will have a non-judgemental attitude and a desire to support the lives of people who use our services to be healthier and safer by delivering a high-quality service.
Experience of working with drug and alcohol use is essential. You will be a competent communicator, with the ability to work independently and be comfortable and enthusiastic, both with the highlighted client group and working in partnership with other service providers. Previous experience or knowledge of working with individuals on opiate replacement treatment, and/or involved in the criminal justice system will be advantageous.

The Pelham road Service will be 5 new self-contained flats, for customers with learning disabilities, Autism and Complex needs, and we are looking to build a staff team with an excellent value base to support the customer to build their new life and develop their skills as an independent person. Support Workers will need to be flexible and shifts will require some mornings, afternoons/Evenings and weekends.
What you'll do:

- Supporting the customer to undertake a full timetable of preferred activities including sport and leisure activities, attending community groups, visiting local amenities, and introducing them to new activities to expand their horizons and networks;
- Developing the customer's independent living skills and involving them in all aspects of maintaining and developing their home, including cooking, shopping, cleaning and decorating;
- Enabling the customer to keep up with the important people in their life and to meet new people with shared interests;
- Supporting the customer to communicate their wants and needs, and communicating with them in a person-centred way;
- Supporting the customer to manage their anxieties and frustrations, using Positive Behaviour Support and Autism-specific approaches;
- Collating a range of behavioural data and essential paperwork to be analysed within our local management structure;
- Driving the customer to activities using the customer's vehicle, in rotation with the wider team;

About the role
CoramBAAF’s membership is central to the organisation’s aims and activities. The Member Services Team provides a comprehensive service to corporate, associate and individual members and customers in all four nations of the UK. The team manages and tracks member renewals, enrols new members, implements recruitment and retention strategies, co-ordinates service delivery to members and handles a wide range of membership enquiries.
The team is also responsible for the licensing of CoramBAAF’s health and social work report forms, essential to practice in adoption, fostering, kinship care and other substitute care UK-wide. Activities to support the licence scheme include managing and tracking licence renewals, coordinating the release of new and updated forms, enrolling new licence holders and handling a wide range of queries.
The Member Services Manager will provide leadership and line management across both membership and the forms licence scheme. The postholder will maximise income from CoramBAAF membership and ensure its continued reach and relevance. They will also maximise income from the forms licence scheme and actively promote its importance as a key member benefit. Importantly they will strengthen engagement with members to ensure retention whilst also increasing reach and awareness nationally to recruit new members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and oversee the implementation of a member engagement strategy to increase direct contact with staff/frontline workers in members agencies.
- Have regular contact with member agencies (in person and online) to promote the benefit of membership and ensure that members are maximising their membership.
- Gather data and maintain accurate records of current member agency engagement in order to identify opportunities for growth as well as areas of concern.
