Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Youth Voice & Lived Experience Storytelling Officerto join our team in London. 

About us 

We help young people experiencing homelessness by providing accommodation, health support and the practical and emotional support they need to move towards independence, education and employment. Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year. Our ambition is to end youth homelessness by 2037. 

About the role 

This is a new role where you’ll work alongside young people with lived experience of homelessness, helping them shape the stories, campaigns and decisions that affect them. You’ll create opportunities for young people to share their ideas and experiences, develop their confidence and lead change on the issues that matter to them. 

You’ll also help turn those ideas into engaging content, events and public campaigns. Throughout, you’ll make sure young people have genuine choice and control over their participation, with their agency and wellbeing at the centre of every activity. 

Centrepoint operates a hybrid working model, with a minimum of 50% of the working week spent in the office. For most full-time colleagues, this means five office days over a two-week period. 

What you’ll be doing 

• Developing an inclusive youth participation and storytelling programme shaped by young people. 

• Building trusting relationships and creating accessible spaces where young people feel heard and respected. 

• Supporting young people to develop campaigns, stories, events and calls for change. 

• Creating engaging content and identifying new opportunities to share young people’s perspectives. 

• Planning participation activities with appropriate safeguarding, risk assessments and support in place. 

• Working with comms colleagues to roll out an ethical storytelling approach across the organisation What we’re looking for 

You’ll have experience working directly with young people, , and experience of youth participation, co-production or lived experience work. You’ll be confident facilitating groups and helping young people take a meaningful role in shaping decisions. 

You’ll bring sound safeguarding judgement, a trauma-informed approach and the ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries. You’ll also be a creative communicator and excellent storyteller who can turn ideas into compelling content without losing sight of each young person’s choice, consent and wellbeing.
