About the role
Reporting in to the Communications and Content Lead, the Copywriter will inspire audiences to give, act and pray with Christian Aid, so everyone can live a full life, free from poverty and injustice.
The post-holder will generate compelling creative copy and make impactful decisions around writing, editing, proofing and reviewing copy to the highest quality standard and supporting freelancers and agencies to do the same. Their output uses their creativity, expertise and passion for copy to create and oversee exemplary content for both print and digital media.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Copywriter include:
- Provide copy leadership within the Communications Division and ensures high quality copy aligns with Christian Aid’s tone of voice and brand.
- Review written content to ensure it supports fundraising and advocacy goals to the highest standard.
- Undertake a range of ad-hoc and planned copy-based and creative services or projects delivered to internal clients including creative consultations, pre-brief scoping sessions, and sanctioning exemptions to specific brand messaging.
- Manage freelance copywriters on the roster, ensuring they are trained and advised on how to apply the brand tone of voice and messaging through various types of content, in addition agencies are given feedback and direction to maximise our impact.
- Collaborate with teams across Christian Aid, enabling colleagues to write and edit content through advice, training and inductions.
About you
Who we are looking for:
Essential:
- Highly developed copywriting, editing, proofing and creative concepting skills. An authoritative and inspiring writer, able to create stand-out copy and adapt writing style to meet audience needs.
- Significant experience in a relevant field e.g. Creative Writing, Marketing, Communications, or Content Creation.
- Significant experience of developing, managing, and applying brand guidelines.
- Significant experience of championing a brand and brand values to colleagues, freelancers and agencies.
- Highly developed time, creative and project management skills.
- Developed ability to work autonomously in a creative, fast-paced environment, across a wide range of print and digital projects including, direct mailings, awareness campaigns, magazines and social media assets.
- Highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills. Confident in pitching to and influencing internal clients.
- Significant experience of collaborative creative work, particularly with colleagues and freelancers.
- Highly developed ability to interrogate briefs and suggest creative solutions, adapting written style to need.
- Highly developed eye for detail with ability to spot errors, unethical nuances and potential legal issues.
- Understanding of the latest trends in copywriting, including knowledge of writing for the web.
Desirable:
- Understanding of the charity/not-for-profit sector.
- Understanding of communications and ethics within international development.

Role: This is an exciting opportunity to champion youth voice across Envision and support young people as they transition beyond our programmes.
As Youth Engagement and Transitions Officer, you will lead and coordinate our Youth Advisory Group, ensuring young people have genuine influence over organisational priorities and decision-making. You will develop and maintain a thriving graduate and alumni network, creating opportunities for continued connection, mentoring and professional development. You will also design and deliver a Transitions Programme that supports young people as they move into education, employment or further opportunities, working with our Partnerships team to engage Envision's corporate partners where relevant.
Youth voice will run through everything you do. Working closely with the Communications Manager, you will ensure young people's perspectives are authentically reflected across our communications - from social media and campaigns to case studies and co-created content. You will be part of the Programmes and Impact Team, collaborating with colleagues across London, Birmingham and Bristol to embed meaningful youth participation at every level of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
