About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join SHP’s fundraising team and play a key role in how we connect with and grow our community of supporters. As Supporter Engagement Officer, you will help build meaningful, long-term relationships with people who are passionate about ending homelessness in London, using digital fundraising and challenge events to bring that connection to life. From someone making their first donation to those who continue to give and champion our work, you will shape supporter journeys that feel personal, engaging and impactful.
You’ll take ownership of delivering creative, insight-led campaigns across the year, with a particular focus on challenge events and our annual Christmas appeal. Alongside this, you’ll use digital tools and data to understand what resonates with supporters, continuously improving how we communicate, grow income and strengthen loyalty. The role also offers the chance to get involved in wider projects, from developing new audiences to helping gather authentic content that reflects the real impact of our services, giving supporters a genuine connection to the change they are part of.
You’ll be joining a collaborative and ambitious team that isn’t afraid to do things differently. Our hybrid working model means the role is currently 2 days per week at our Head Office in Kings Cross with the remaining 3 days from home. Specific days agreement will be discussed with the line manager.
About you:
- Experience delivering supporter engagement or fundraising activity, ideally across digital channels and challenge events, with a focus on building lasting relationships
- Confident using, or keen to learn, digital fundraising tools such as FundraiseUp, Mailchimp, JustGiving, Let’s Do This, Shopify or WordPress
- Able to use insight and data to shape campaigns, improve supporter journeys and increase engagement, income and retention
- Creative and proactive, with the confidence to try new ideas and contribute to a team that values innovation and doing things differently
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and priorities while keeping supporters at the heart of your work

Lead and Direct Income Generation and Future Fundraising for Swindon Food Collective
The role has key responsibility for all income generation activities at Swindon Food Collective. This includes high-profile networking with local businesses, corporations and the public sector, processing grant applications, growing and managing key corporate partnerships and significantly increasing fundraising activities. This is a senior role and the role-holder will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team. The work involves undertaking frequent travel to local corporations, businesses, and wider public sector stakeholders.
Role Purpose
To design, deliver and secure a multi-stream recurring income generation strategy, manage charity-wide philanthropy, and strengthen long-term financial resilience.
Key responsibilities
Strategy and planning
• Develop and deliver a 12–24-month income generation plan aligned to SFC priorities and the Trustee Strategy & Fundraising Committee.
• Build a balanced income mix (corporate, philanthropy, trusts, community and digital where appropriate), with clear targets and resource assumptions.
• Produce compelling cases for support and pitch materials tailored to different audiences.
Corporate partnerships and sponsorship
• Identify, cultivate and secure corporate partnerships and sponsorships (including 'charity of the year' and payroll giving where feasible).
• Design partnership packages (benefits, brand alignment, staff engagement, volunteering) and manage delivery and stewardship.
• Work closely with the Brand Ambassador & Events Manager to convert event leads into partnership conversations.
Philanthropy, major donors and relationship fundraising
• Build and steward relationships with high-value supporters, ensuring excellent donor care and personalised stewardship.
• Manage a prospect pipeline (research, cultivation plans, asks, stewardship and renewals).
• Coordinate CEO and trustee involvement in high-value relationships where appropriate.
Trusts, foundations and grant fundraising
• Own the trusts and foundations pipeline, from identifying funders to writing compelling bids and submitting applications.
• Coordinate impact evidence and data collection across SFC to strengthen applications and reporting.
• Complete and undertake all funding and grant applications (corporate and public sector) in a timely fashion and ahead of relevant deadlines. Report funding progress to stakeholders.
• Ensure timely and high-quality funder reporting and relationship management.
Performance management, systems and compliance
• Manage income forecasting, budgeting and ROI tracking; set and monitor KPIs and provide clear reporting to CEO/Board.
• Maintain accurate records in the CRM (or agreed system), ensuring GDPR compliance and strong data quality.
• Ensure fundraising activity aligns with relevant fundraising standards and ethical practice.
Leadership and organisational contribution
• Senior Leadership Team member: contribute to organisational planning, budgeting and risk management.
• Work collaboratively across operations and volunteering functions to ensure fundraising promises align with delivery capability and safeguarding requirements.
• Coach and support colleagues and volunteers who contribute to income generation activity.
• Other tasks as relevant / determined by the CEO.

About the role
The Fundraising Strategy & Operations Team deliver the Fundraising strategy and provide high quality operations to support the Fundraising Directorate. The team has a variety of different functions including Supporter Care, Strategic Liaison with Service teams, Compliance, Supporter Journeys and Communications as well as general administration. This role will be managing the Supporter Care team of three people.
About you
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in a busy supporter care environment, working to tight deadlines
- Experience of writing donor correspondence and creating data capture guidance
- Proven experience of supporter care campaign management including creating clear processes and flow charts and managing, negotiating and liaising with suppliers.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and manage a variety of projects and activities to tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to develop strong working relationships with external suppliers and internal departments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and produce written documents to a high standard

Key tasks and responsibilities
Community & Events
- Working with the Fundraising Manager to develop and implement strategies to support the growth from community fundraising activities.

- Develop an annual calendar of participation events, including leading on the creation and delivery of marketing activity for these initiatives to maximise promotion, engagement and income.

- Work closely with the marketing team on the planning and delivery of marketing activity for all fundraising events and initiatives, taking responsibility for generating content, scheduling activity and driving audience engagement.
- Build a robust fundraising pipeline across community and events, monitoring and evaluating the success of fundraising activities, producing regular reports and data analysis.
- Setting and manage income and expenditure for all fundraising initiatives, ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability.
- Keeping accurate records of donor interactions, income, and expenditure on the charity’s database (Beacon).
- Performing other duties as reasonably required within the role.

Knowledge and experience
- Experience of increasing income through successful community events, corporate or volunteer fundraising programmes or equivalent transferable experience from another sector.

Role Requirements
- Develop, implement and monitor a fundraising strategy across all public fundraising areas aligned to the voluntary income strategy.

- Using CRM principles, work with senior managers to optimise acquisition planning, and channels and campaigns within agreed budgets.
- Build and strengthen internal relationships across the organisation to co-produce fundraising propositions and ensure that budget relieving, organisational priorities are at the centre of all fundraising relationships.
- Work with Heads across the Fundraising, Retail and Communications Directorate to manage relationships, scope of work and overall budgets when commissioning external data analytics, creative and media agencies.

About the Role
We are looking for two full-time Researchers to join the Corporate Performance team on fixed-term contracts, one for seven months and the other for twelve months.
This role will be central to the Corporate Performance programme and strengthening our data. You will be responsible for carrying out thorough and detailed research and engagement on corporate performance, focusing on deforestation, ecosystem conversion and associated human rights abuses across a range of high-risk commodities and geographies. Role overview
This newly created senior role strengthens The Young Foundation’s strategic business development function and supports income growth across the full range of our programmes and partnerships. The post will provide expertise in fundraising and procurement processes including approaches to philanthropic funders and investor circles as well as formal tendering, dealing with a range of funding modalities from research grants to commercial consultancy and trusts and foundations.
Key responsibilities
Business development and income growth

Lead high‑value income generation processes, including building consortia, securing philanthropic funding, and delivering high quality formal tenders, coordinating inputs from across our delivery teams.

Oversee the preparation of costed proposals and pitches for a diverse range of funders, including research councils, local authorities, commercial consultancy, and philanthropic trusts.

Support the continued growth and impact of The Young Foundation’s external-facing activity, aligning business development with communications and policy work.

Manage a robust pipeline, tracking opportunities and ensuring strategic alignment with organisational priorities.

Develop budgets, pricing models, and partnership structures for commissioned work.

Identify new funding and commissioning opportunities through horizon scanning, network engagement, and proactive outreach.

Collaborate with senior colleagues to refine and grow thematic and programme areas.

Support and advise colleagues across the organisation on approaches to business development including opportunity identification, competitive analysis, structuring meetings, building consortia and financial models.
Partnerships, networks and relationship management

In collaboration with programme delivery leads, build and steward relationships with funders, commissioners, consortium partners and strategic collaborators.

Lead account management for key partners to support long‑term growth and mutual value creation.
BD leadership, systems and strategy

Create, improve and maintain appropriate BD systems, processes and tools, including pipelines, trackers and lessons‑learned approaches.

Contribute to organisational strategy and planning and, in particular, to fundraising strategy and external affairs.

Create and monitor BD metrics, reporting on feedback and recommending appropriate courses of action.

Manage a repository of BD data and information, including track record, capacity statements, boilerplate bid sections, etc.

Champion The Young Foundation’s values, ensuring inclusive, ethical and community‑centred practice.
Person specification
Prior experience – essential
-
Substantial experience of leading/managing business development and income generation for a think tank or similar research/innovation led organisation.

Track record of securing income across a range of relevant funders through both competitive tenders and proactive approaches.

Strong commercial acumen.

Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.

Understanding of UK government and non-government sectoral funding landscapes.

Strong network in the UK community and/or social innovation sector.

Commitment to equity and social justice.

Demonstrated collaborative approach to team-working – able to work effectively with colleagues with a range of specialisms and to operate effectively in a remote-first organisation.
Prior experience - desirable

Experience with the introduction of CRM software.

Familiarity with creating and reporting on BD metrics at Senior Leadership Team and/or Board level.

Experience of/interest in exploring the impact of AI in business development and fundraising.

Familiarity and/or previous experience with The Young Foundation’s thematic areas (eg, community engagement, just transition, social innovation, young people, etc.).
