Job description

Passionate about digital marketing, communications and creating meaningful impact?

Young Citizens is a national citizenship education charity with nearly 40 years' experience inspiring active citizenship among children and young people.

As curriculum and policy change accelerates, including Votes for 16 reshaping how young people engage in civic life, we're focused on ensuring active citizenship sits at the heart of how the next generation is prepared to participate in and protect a thriving democracy.

About the role

We're looking for a Digital Marketing Lead to join our team and lead our digital marketing and communications activity as we embark on an ambitious new phase of growth.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of communications and marketing activity that reaches thousands of teachers and schools across the UK.

You'll help shape how teachers discover, engage with and participate in our programmes through digital marketing campaigns, content and audience-focused communications.

Working across email marketing, social media, websites, Salesforce CRM, audience data and analytics, you'll play a key role in increasing engagement and strengthening the impact of our work.

You'll join during an exciting, delivery-focused period, with the opportunity to make an immediate contribution while developing broad expertise across digital marketing, communications strategy, audience insight, CRM management and campaign optimisation.

Within your first few months you'll be:

  • Taking ownership of communications activity from day one, delivering real campaigns and content with support and feedback to help you succeed.

  • Developing a strong understanding of our programmes, audiences and what drives teacher engagement.

  • Confidently using Spotler and Salesforce to manage campaigns, audiences and reporting.

  • Owning email campaigns from planning through to launch, reporting and optimisation.

  • Creating effective content and identifying opportunities to improve our communications.

As you continue to grow you'll have opportunities to:

  • Take greater ownership of communications and schools engagement strategy across our key programmes.

  • Lead the development and optimisation of audience journeys, campaigns and marketing systems.

  • Present campaign performance, insights and recommendations to colleagues and senior leaders.

  • Represent Young Citizens externally and build relationships with schools, partners and sector stakeholders.

  • Contribute ideas, insight and recommendations that help shape how we communicate and engage educators nationally.

  • Develop broad expertise across digital marketing, communications strategy, audience insight, CRM systems and campaign optimisation.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in communications, marketing, digital marketing, mass event marketing, media or PR.

  • Understands what motivates audiences and how to create content that drives action.

  • Thrives in busy, delivery-focused environments and can manage competing priorities.

  • Is a strong writer and creative thinker with excellent attention to detail.

  • Is comfortable using CRM systems, analytics and audience insights.

  • Has experience managing email marketing platforms, CRM systems and digital marketing campaigns.

  • Is proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused.

  • Understands the importance of safeguarding, privacy and responsible communications, or is willing to develop this knowledge.
