The Chartered Institute for Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) is a London-based charity with a friendly, hardworking team supporting our members in the UK and internationally.
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Content and Events Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering exceptional events and award ceremonies, ensuring smooth operations and excellent customer service throughout. If you are passionate about events, marketing, and awards management, with a flair for creativity and attention to detail, we want to hear from you.
Reporting to the Events & Awards Manager, the ideal candidate will:
- Assist in the creation and execution of social media and email marketing campaigns, event promotion, and sponsorship activities.
- Support speaker, sponsor, and stakeholder communications, including briefings, follow-ups, and query management.
- Coordinate event logistics, including site visits, accommodation, and travel arrangements, and provide onsite event support.
- Contribute to the administrative tasks of the awards, including eligibility checks, judge support, and website updates.
- Provide ongoing support to the Events & Awards Manager, assisting with content research, video editing, and general operational duties.
We are looking for someone with experience working in event or awards, or at least a strong interest in this area. You should have some experience in social media management and email marketing campaigns, with excellent communication and organisational skills. The ideal candidate will be creative, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively. Proficiency in IT, including MS Office, and familiarity with tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite would be advantageous. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively is essential.
It is not essential for the candidate to possess prior knowledge of the sector, but they will have the right level of knowledge and enthusiasm to learn rapidly and use their transferable skills to succeed in this role.

The Role
Each day you will travel to different venues, set up an attractive fundraising stand, and spend the day actively engaging with members of the public, spreading awareness about our conservation efforts and inspiring individuals to become lifelong members.
Don't worry if you're not a wildlife expert yet – you will be provided with comprehensive training to equip you with all the knowledge you need. Plus, you'll enjoy the added perk of a company van, with fuel and parking costs paid for.
What's even better? You'll have the flexibility to choose a contract between 3 to 5 days per week, and enjoy the stability of a set salary, rather than working on commission. With 34 days of annual leave (including bank holidays) and opportunities for sabbaticals, we value your work-life balance and well-being.

About You
What we need from you:

- A driver's licence valid for use in the UK;

FACE TO FACE FUNDRAISER
Location: You be working in shopping centres, train stations and other locations throughout London and surrounding areas (ideally, candidates should be based within London or the surrounding area)
Salary: £25,000 - 28,000+ (including paid travel when working out of London)

Cancer Research UK is the worlds leading cancer charity. They are committed to 3 in 4 survival rate by 2034 . Their Face to Face Fundraising team bring in around 10 million pounds for the charity each year, so this is your chance to really make a difference.
We are looking for candidates who love interacting and engaging with members of the public on a daily bases. You will be self-motivated, passionate and enjoy using words to persuade and inspire.

What will I be doing?
- Engaging with the public at stands in shopping centres and inspiring them to make regular donations via Direct Debit
- Working as part of a team of fundraising experts
- Sharing engaging and inspiring stories regarding Cancer Research UK progress and goals
- Being responsible for setting up your stand and working environment in private site venues
- Representing CRUK with the highest level of professionalism, treating the public fairly and with respect
What skills will I need?
- Excellent communication skills and customer experience with confidence in speaking to the public
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly and influence others
- An ability to work under pressure
- Experience of delivering and achieving targets in a customer-related environment or similar
- Strong resilience to handle negative objections.
