JOB DESCRIPTION
The Supporter Engagement Manager position is a pivotal role in the Public Fundraising team, comprising seven specialist Fundraisers. The post-holder is responsible for driving growth in our Individual Giving programme through a mix of acquisition and retention campaigns.
Key internal relationships include the Head of Supporter Engagement and the Fundraising Management team.
The post-holder will work closely with the Fundraising Data Manager and the Community Engagement Manager on collaborative income generation and Supporter Engagement activities.
The post-holder will be instrumental in shaping the Individual Giving and Supporter cultivation strategies geared towards increasing our Cash and Regular Giving Supporter base.
The Individual Giving programme includes Cash Appeals, Regular Giving (including Door-to-Door recruitment), Hospice Lottery, Challenge Events, Legacies and Supporter Care. There is a strong focus on digital fundraising.

The Sickle Cell Society (SCS) is the only national charity in the UK that supports and represents people affected by a sickle cell disorder. We provide information, advice and support to enable people to improve their overall quality of life. About the role
We are seeking a skilled Bid Writer to work alongside our Head of Business Development to secure vital funding through tenders. If you have experience of winning income via statutory commissioned services for front line services (especially advocacy), we would be particularly delighted to hear from you.
Key responsibilities
î Identify pipeline tenders.
î Manage and write tender submission
î Produce highly quality proposals working closely with staff and service users
î Produce best practice toolkit
î Manage funder communications and reporting.
î Assist with other funding applications as required
Experience and skills
î Proven success as a bid writer in the charity sector.
î Ideally experience in Advocacy or user involvement
î Proven experience with tenders, and government contracts.
î Highly IT proficient with experience of using AI to support in bid preparation
î Ability to work collaboratively
î Be highly organised and self-motivated with a proven ability to work to tight deadlines
î Proactive, dynamic, able to work effectively independently
î Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
î Knowledge of fundraising regulations, GDPR, and best practices.
î Strong understanding of EDI principles and how to apply them in your work

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
As an integral member of the Development Team, the Development Manager will support the growth of our trust and foundation partnerships to fund a number of our core annual programme areas (Student Bursaries, Healthcare, Facilities etc) as well as new projects. The Manager will also lead on research and funding applications to trusts and foundations, while also delivering quality impact reporting across the School’s work.
CONTRACT TERMS
Duration: Fixed-term maternity cover (approximately 12 months) from October 2026
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, with flexible hybrid working
Location: Upper School, Covent Garden, WC2E 9DA, with the option to discuss remote work
Salary: £45,000 per annum
