The Volunteer and Events Manager will develop and implement a volunteer strategy and annual RLSS UK plan of events, for all Directorates, which evolves to include opportunities as they arise. To do so successfully, you will be a proactive, dynamic and experienced Volunteer and Events Manager who will lead our centralised management function with passion, excitement and dedication to RLSS UK’s purpose, mission and vision.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a professional volunteer and events function ensuring supply and demand needs are met across RLSS UK and supporting all teams to embed a consistent and coordinated approach
- To develop, implement and oversee the delivery of the volunteer strategy
- To develop and implement effective strategies, polices and processes to engage and retain volunteers and ensure a high-quality volunteer experience at all stages of the volunteer cycle
- To develop and implement effective event management strategies, policies and processes incorporating all health and safety requirements
- To lead and continuously improve our support to volunteers across the UK and Ireland
- Develop, implement and review an innovative volunteer recognition and reward offer

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Relevant Experience, Skills and/or Aptitudes
- Approximately 7+ years’ experience in a volunteer management role
- Approximately 5+ years' experience in a events management role
- Experience of working at a manager level ideally in a membership organisation
- Demonstrable experience of strong project management
- Demonstrable experience in the development and implementation of impactful volunteer engagement strategies
- Demonstrable expertise in defining and driving strategies to achieve step changes in engagement

About the role
We’re excited to be recruiting a Legacy and In Memory Marketing Manager to help grow and deliver WWF-UK’s legacy and in memory fundraising programme. This role will lead the planning and delivery of engaging multi-channel marketing activity that inspires supporters to consider leaving a gift in their will or giving in memory, helping to build long-term support for our mission.
You’ll manage a varied portfolio of campaigns across direct mail, digital, events and web, working closely with colleagues across fundraising, communications and data teams, as well as external agencies. Alongside delivering high-quality campaigns, you’ll play an important role in strengthening supporter journeys, embedding best practice in legacy marketing and championing legacy and in memory giving across the organisation.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys combining creative thinking with strong planning, analysis and collaboration to deliver meaningful supporter engagement.

· Experience delivering legacy, in memory or individual giving marketing activity that supports supporter growth and retention

This varied role plays a key part in managing the financial, operational and data systems that underpin fundraising and alumni engagement. Principal responsibilities and duties
Budget Management
- With the Head of Comms & Individual Giving, set annual budgets and programmes of activity, actively monitoring performance against these and adapting approach as necessary
- Plan, monitor and control expenditure as appropriate and manage income against set budget, KPIs; providing regular revised projections and narrative for the Senior Leadership Team and trustees as required
- Analyse individual giving performance, reporting as required and using the results to improve practice, including evaluation of cost effectiveness and sustainability
Communicating and building relationships
- Cultivate and steward meaningful relationships with individual donors to maintain their engagement and support and ensure a stable and growing donor base
- Create compelling fundraising materials and appeals targeted at individual donors
- Provide excellent donor stewardship through timely acknowledgement of gifts, personalised communication and recognition efforts.
- Develop and deliver a plan of regular communications for recurring givers and high-value donors

Data management

- Use data to identify areas of prospective growth and build plans to deliver these
- Adopt a data-led fundraising approach, segmenting data and using supporter journeys to maintain engagement and speak to people about the right products for them

Experience

You’ll take ownership of the communications and marketing requirements for our Partnerships and Communities portfolio, ensuring every project has a clear, impactful marketing strategy. You’ll work in close collaboration with our award-winning Communications and Marketing function to ensure your strategies align with, and complement, our overarching communications strategy, vision and corporate brand. By coordinating with our PR, Social Media, and Marketing teams, you’ll drive consistency and cohesion through the Partnerships and Communities programmes, helping us amplify our message and strengthen our impact.
Key Focus Areas
- Supporting partnership, funding and supporter growth and retention by working with the Partnerships Development Manager to develop partnership strategies and materials (e.g., pitches, proposals, content, impact reporting), and track/evaluate partnership activity to evidence impact and attract new support.
- Commissioning and managing the creation of accessible and effective assets (e.g. presentations, toolkits, social content, video) that are used in the delivery and implementation of a wide variety of programmes and campaigns, across diverse themes. This will involve close collaboration with the Senior Programmes Design Manager and our partners.
- Developing and overseeing integrated marketing and communications plans for the programmes and campaigns – considering objectives, audiences, channels, timelines and KPIs - in close collaboration with Community Integrated Care’s in-house internal and external Marketing and Communications team and operational colleagues, and our partners, to ensure that we reach and empower our target audiences.
- Identifying, delivering and collaborating on profile-raising activations with partners (e.g., events, co-branded campaigns, ambassador activity, PR opportunities) that celebrate the charity, extend reach, and support a more inclusive society, working with Community Integrated Care’s external communications team – including PR and Media, Social Media, Policy & Public Affairs and Design specialists.

The Digital Mobilisation Manager will lead Safe Passage’s digital programme, sitting within both our Fundraising and Campaigns teams. They will mobilise supporters through timely actions; manage, develop and grow our digital channels strategically; and be at the centre of meeting our fundraising and campaign goals. They will lead on the development of our digital strategy with oversight from the leadership team, implementing it through expert, hands-on content creation.
