Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led literacy and numeracy programmes across a number of prisons.  We now have the opportunity to provide a service at HMP Belmarsh (subject to contract award). Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme at HMP Belmarsh, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read. 

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings  underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. 

This role will be prison-based. Are you a driven, highly organised and collaborative individual with extensive experience of delivering training or assessing vocational qualifications to adults facing disadvantage?  Do have the ability to support people who have multiple and complex needs within challenging environments? 

If so, St Giles are looking for a Trainer to work collaboratively within a prison-based setting to provide a quality service to people in prison who work across the establishment as peer supporters wellbeing navigators. This will involve training, supporting and assessing peer supporters to achieve their Level 3 Certificate in Advice and Guidance and other vocational qualifications whilst supporting them to progress onto further opportunities and sustainable employment.

About this key role

As a Trainer, you will be embedded within a prison-based setting and expected to assess the suitability of applicants to become Wellbeing peer supporters and to complete the Learning to Advise course, which includes sessions on confidentiality, equality act, safeguarding and case notes and other relevant training.  You will then prepare, plan, and deliver the Learning to Advise assured course to individuals in prison, ensuring the completion of all relevant paperwork in a timely manner and delivering any additional Emotional Resilience/Wellbeing units necessary to individuals participating.

We will also rely on you to work with allocated learners to produce realistic assessment plans and to provide one-to-one support to learners as appropriate, whilst monitoring their progress towards timely completion and certification. Working in partnership with Big Dog Little Dog to design, adapt and deliver emotional resilience/wellbeing training sessions is also a key element of this role, as is working constructively with colleagues to achieve pilot targets and supporting local community projects with advertising, recruiting, and facilitating ROTLS.

What we are looking for

• Experience of working to targets and recording information and statistics to enable effective monitoring of performance against targets

• Level 3 Certificate in Education and Training or equivalent teaching/assessor certification

• An understanding of the issues faced by project participants in accessing and sustaining training or employment and how these can be overcome

• The ability to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the issues faced by our client group, in particular barriers faced by people first entering prison

• The ability to support and motivate learners with multiple complex needs and to apply a creative approach to learning and assessing

• The ability to effectively assess evidence and identify assessment criteria using a range of assessment methods

• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written.

As a Housing Domestic Abuse Advocate, you will provide intervention, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic abuse. Working within a fast-paced team, you will help empower women and ensure that the voice of survivors informs every stage of their journey towards improved safety. You will have your own caseload of survivors who hold social tenancies with local authorities or housing associations, and you will encourage them to engage with our service and ensure they have access to support. You will also co-ordinate the provision of multi-agency support which focuses on working with domestic abuse survivors to maintain their tenancies and prevent homelessness.

About You:

To be successful as the Domestic Abuse Housing Advocate you will need the below experience and skills:

You will bring solid experience of supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse in all its forms; coming from a sector with transferrable skills or possess a feminist/VAWG degree and be keen to learn and to train on the job. You will have a good understanding of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on the dynamics of domestic abuse (physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families, and communities. You will have proven skills and experience in conducting comprehensive assessments of needs and risk for survivors experiencing domestic abuse, including carrying out short risk management and safety planning. We will expect that you have experience in assessing the needs and safety of any children that women using the service may have and an understanding of the criminal justice system and relevant legislation with regard to legal and civil options, housing, benefits, matrimonial and children. Lastly you will bring your knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures, and legislation.

With many skills and qualities to add to this role, if you have good IT literacy, data collection and monitoring these skills are maximised in your role. If you have experience or have been trained or are qualified in the fields related  to substance misuse, criminal jusice, law, social work or domestic abuse we would love to hear from you.

This will provide a structured and clear ongoing support plan for those living with and beyond cancer which are integrated with primary, secondary and community clinical care pathways.

The aim of the service is to provide an improved experience for patients beyond their interactions with clinical services by contributing to the overall holistic approach to supporting people living with and beyond cancer. This will integrate the ‘beyond medicine’ approaches offered by the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) into existing and developing cancer pathways.

The Macmillan Beyond Diagnosis Service also includes the NUH Cancer Prehabilitation service, where we provide the Beyond Diagnosis model through the Social Prescriber Link Worker role.

For Age UK Westminster, the Befriending Service is one of its most important services tackling loneliness and isolation for older people in our community. This role would suit anyone who would like to play a key part in further developing a well-established service that makes a real difference to its community.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide clinical leadership and supervision to a number of therapeutic services within Richmond Borough Mind. Our developed and respected Psychotherapy and Counselling Service has been providing long-term counselling interventions to local residents since 1988. The service is self-funded and offers a range of therapies which aim to provide individuals with the support and opportunity to work through their difficulties in depth with a skilled and experienced trainee or fully qualified therapist. Sliding scale rates are offered to make sure that we are accessible to all. The Information Events Coordinator will deliver our information events programme consisting of face-to-face and online events hosted by the team and held throughout the UK, developing the strategy for the programme and implementing event activity with the aim to increase participation and attendance.

You’ll be responsible for the planning, co-ordination and delivery of the events, including marketing and promotion, as well as logistics and resourcing.  You’ll be required to attend several weekend events throughout the year so should be able to travel across the UK as needed.

If your answer is yes, then we want to hear from you. We are looking for an Institutional Trusts and Fundraising Manager to join our team. You will have the following knowledge and experience:

→ Extensive experience of working in statutory and/or trusts fundraising, including successfully applying for grants in excess of £50,00 to £100,000+

→ Demonstrable track record of high quality bid writing and production that meet funder requirements

→ Project management experience

→ Substantial experience interpreting and translating material into compelling content for successful proposals

→ Demonstrable strong project and account management abilities

→ Confident in the development of budgets to meet proposal requirements

→ Strong problem solving ability and confidence to bring in new ideas and drive them forward

→ Experience of writing and communicating for different mediums and channels and applying writing and branding requirements to reports and documents

→ Awareness and understanding of legislation and best practice, with good knowledge of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising and Fundraising Regulator, in relation to fundraising and data protection

This role will provide strategic oversight and direction for Lepra’s institutional fundraising function to deliver on the restricted and unrestricted income targets. Line managing and leading the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser in the delivery of the trust fundraising target, and working with the programmes teams in the UK, India and Bangladesh to identify and develop applications to statutory sources and major trusts, leading on the development of detailed project proposals.

The salary for this position is £28,723 (FTE £35,904) – Manager Level, part time (28 hours – 4 days per week). We have fully embraced flexible working and the role can be either fully remote, hybrid or fully based at our Colchester offices. We offer a lot of flexibility in working practices and there is free reserved parking available. We also offer 26 days annual leave plus public holidays (pro-rated), pension, and support from an in-house well-being team.

 About the Role

The Africa Death Penalty Team Project Manager is responsible for coordinating Reprieve’s litigation and advocacy in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the moment, the team works on death penalty casework and abolition advocacy in Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. Our casework includes work on individual cases on behalf of people facing a death sentence; large-scale projects, such as the Kenya resentencing project, wherein we support stakeholders to ensure 5,000+ people are able to access a chance at reducing their sentence from death via a new sentence hearing; and  long-term regional projects, such as our strategic litigation before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which challenges the mandatory death penalty, torture, and other associated violations of the African Charter.

Regional context

 There is a trend toward the abolition of the death penalty in Africa. In recent years, countries across the continent have taken the decision to limit the application of the death penalty or to abolish it altogether. This has been seen as a turning away from old laws and systems that were imposed by former colonial governments, which obstructed alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and were designed to remove discretion from the local judiciary. African lawyers and judges are now at the forefront of a wave of progressive jurisprudence on issues related to the death penalty including methods of executions, torture, sentencing practice, conditions of confinement, and intersections of gender, disability, and socioeconomic status with criminal justice. This jurisprudence has become a model for the international movement to limit the death penalty, and is being held up as best practice in jurisdictions around the world.

Contract and location

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model with staff working part of the week from home and part of the week from the office. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

Your presence is important during core office hours, whether remotely or in the office. You will also be available outside of office hours in the event of an emergency, for example case developments that require urgent action. This is a role that may require travel. 

The annual salary is £50,571 full-time per annum, less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance.

We are looking for two Development Managers to join our Development team focusing on Individual Giving and Trust and Foundation Fundraising.

The Development Manager (Individual Giving) will manage the strategic development of Individual Giving, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. The post-holder will oversee the delivery of our Regular Giving programmes and will also manage relationships with high-level donors to identify and securing major gifts.

• Drive acquisition, retention and growth of Individual Giving at all levels with a particular view to growing unrestricted income from this stream.
• Develop and deliver inspiring Regular Giving appeals, understanding the key motivations of our supporters and in line with the strategic objectives of the organisation.
• Lead on the delivery of all aspects of the Patron programme, in particular stewardship of Patrons and supporting the Head of Development in a strategic review of the programme.

• Proactively manage a personal portfolio of prospects and donors to secure mid- and major-level gifts from Individuals, ensuring that tailored moves management strategies are employed to meaningfully move relationships towards solicitation.

The Development Manager (Trust and Foundations) will manage the strategic development of Trusts and Foundations fundraising, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. The post-holder will oversee income generation from grant-making organisations and ensure timely reporting to funders.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following essential requirements:

• Drive growth of Trusts and Foundations income especially at the five- and six-figure level, with a particular view to supporting unrestricted income and major projects in the organisation’s pipeline.
• Proactively manage a personal portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, regularly meeting and engaging with prospective funders to pitch proposals and check-in around expectations. 
• Liaise with key internal stakeholders to develop accurate, compelling funding applications in line with deadlines set by funders. 
• Build lasting relationships with funders in order to establish opportunities for multi-year income generation.
• Drive the Trusts and Foundations prospecting process and increase the range of prospects approached for support, utilising prospect research tools and securing introductions from our network.
