Job description

Financial Controller

Salary: Up to £55,000
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Hybrid / London

A growing social-impact charity is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to strengthen financial management, reporting, controls and business partnering across the organisation.

Reporting to a senior operational leader and managing the Finance Team, you will work closely with the Executive Team, budget holders and colleagues across the organisation. You will play a key role in improving financial insight, strengthening controls and helping non-finance colleagues make confident, well-informed decisions.

The role

As Financial Controller, you will lead the organisation’s financial management and control environment while supporting longer-term planning and sustainability.

You will:

· Lead budgeting, forecasting and multi-year financial planning

· Provide high-quality management information, analysis and commentary to senior leaders and Trustees

· Partner with budget holders, providing financial insight and support.

· Oversee month-end processes, reconciliations, payroll controls and policies

· Lead preparation for the annual audit and statutory accounts

· Maintain strong oversight of restricted income and funder reporting

· Support fundraising and income-generation teams with financial modelling and funding applications

· Lead cash-flow forecasting, treasury management and investment oversight

· Improve finance systems, reporting tools and processes, including identifying opportunities for automation

· Help improve financial understanding and confidence across the organisation

About you

You will ideally be a qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, and will offer:

· Strong finance experience gained within a charity, not-for-profit or similarly complex environment

· Excellent financial control, management accounting and reporting experience

· Practical knowledge of Charities SORP and FRS102

· The ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical advice

· Confidence working with senior leaders, Trustees and non-finance stakeholders

· Experience improving financial systems, processes and controls

· The ability to combine attention to detail with a wider organisational perspective

Above all, you will be motivated by the opportunity to use your finance expertise to support an organisation delivering meaningful social impact.
