We have an opportunity for two dedicated Case Officers to join our North East casework team to manage and provide direct support, advice, and guidance to RBL beneficiaries across the North East on a wide range of issues including health, social care, employment, benefits, statutory support, and housing.

Our Casework Services team plays a vital role at RBL in supporting the Armed Forces community, helping beneficiaries to lead better, more fulfilling lives. Each year, we assist around 12,000 people both in the UK and abroad. By collaborating with various departments within RBL and across a wide network of external partners, we ensure that our beneficiaries receive the support they need, regardless of their circumstances.

Based in a friendly and established team, your role will be to ensure that beneficiaries receive appropriate welfare support and advice in an integrated and seamless way, providing a person-centred solution based on a thorough analysis of circumstances and needs.

Reporting to the area Casework Services Manager, key responsibilities will include:

- Manage casework support, providing direct support, advice and guidance to beneficiaries,
- Assess beneficiaries’ needs and draw on support from the regional specialist team and other providers as necessary, ensuring that support is made available in an integrated way that best meets the beneficiaries’ needs
- Support the Casework Services Manager and Head of Welfare in better understanding the needs of the beneficiaries in your area to inform the commissioning of specialist services
- Advise beneficiaries of support which may be available to them and assist them in accessing this support as necessary
- Work in close collaboration with other providers of welfare support services within the local area, developing an understanding of each other’s services to facilitate appropriate referrals and support
- Develop effective working relationships with other Legion services within the area in question (e.g Specialist Service teams, Recovery team, Branch Community Support supporters, care homes, Remembrance.).

The role is primarily homebased and will have regular travel around the North East area for meetings and visiting beneficiaries, therefore you will need to live in a location that allows reasonable travel around this area. There will also be occasional travel nationally to attend training or meetings.

A valid UK Driving Licence is an essential requirement for this role. The successful applicant will require an Enhanced DBS check to be undertaken as part of the pre employment checks process.

Our partner is a humanitarian organisation working to support communities affected by conflict and violence. They are seeking an interim finance professional to provide hands-on support to the finance team during a busy period. The role will focus on day-to-day accounting, reconciliations, transaction processing and support with income, inter-company and cost recovery processes.

This would suit a part-qualified accountant, experienced Finance Officer or someone qualified by experience who is confident working across reconciliations, journals and transactional finance.

Key responsibilities

• Post transactions accurately to the organisation’s accounting system.
• Ensure bank reconciliations are completed and reconciling items are followed up, including helping to clear a short backlog.
• Reconcile income received against CRM records, ensuring data and details match across both systems.
• Support the reconciliation of inter-company transactions between UK and overseas entities, including helping to clear existing backlog items.
• Work with the Programme Finance Manager on salary and overhead recoveries.
• Prepare and post journals to the accounting system.
• Support the finance team with other accounting, reconciliation and month-end tasks as required.

Person specification

• Part-qualified or QBE professional with experience in an all-round Finance Officer or similar role.
• Strong reconciliation experience, including bank reconciliations and income reconciliations.
• Experience posting transactions and journals to an accounting system.
• Good attention to detail and confidence working with financial data across different systems.
• A practical, organised and hands-on approach, with the ability to work through backlogs and resolve discrepancies.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with finance and programme colleagues.
• Experience in the charity, international NGO or grant-funded sector would be helpful, but is not essential.

Details

• They are seeking someone to start immediately, with the contract is expected to run for approximately 3 months.
• Ideally, the organisation is seeking full-time support. However, they would also consider someone available 4 days per week.

Job Purpose

The newly appointment Energy Adviser is to provide 1‑to‑1, face‑to‑face energy advice, including home visits, to the local community and residents experiencing fuel poverty and energy‑related issues. The role is focused on supporting vulnerable people, including disabled people, older adults, and those on low incomes, to improve energy efficiency, manage bills, and access appropriate support.

Key Responsibilities:

Advice, Casework and Targets

• Provide 1‑to‑1, face‑to‑face energy advice appointments, including home visits.
• Support vulnerable households, ensuring advice is accessible, inclusive, and person‑centred.
• Offer tailored guidance on:
  • Reducing energy usage and costs
  • Understanding bills, meters, and tariffs
  • Heating systems and basic energy efficiency measures
  • Fuel debt, payment plans, and priority services registers
  • Accessing grants, discounts, and energy‑related support schemes
• Assist clients with energy correspondence and form‑filling where required.
• You will be part of a larger team working together to reach specific delivery targets.

Outreach and Events

• Deliver outreach sessions, information stands, and workshops in community venues.
• Attend and support community events to promote the charity’s energy advice services.
• Work proactively to reach under‑represented or harder‑to‑reach groups.

Safeguarding

• Undertake lone working, including home visits, in line with organisational lone‑working policies.
• Identify and appropriately respond to safeguarding concerns, following charity procedures.
• Maintain personal safety and professional boundaries at all times.
• Onward referral to local provision for complex cases or support needs beyond our scope.

Administration and Partnership Working

• Maintain accurate case records, monitoring outcomes and impact.
• Work collaboratively with internal colleagues and external partners such as local authorities, health professionals, and voluntary organisations.
• Contribute to monitoring, reporting, and evaluation required by funders.

Key Skills and Qualifications: 

• Experience of working directly with vulnerable people, including disabled people.
• Experience delivering energy advice would be a bonus, but not essential.

• A passion or interest in supporting the local community.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills, with an empathetic non-judgemental approach

• Experience of delivering group and outreach sessions.

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage own workload and ability to work independently. 
• Good IT skills (email, case management, CRM system, data entry, reporting)
• Already have or committed to undertaking Level 3 City & Guilds Energy Awareness qualification within an agreed timeframe.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle and business insurance (desirable due to home visits).

Location: Manchester

• In-school project delivery Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday with travel costs covered
• Hybrid working for the remainder of your time – choose to work from home or access co-working spaces across the city
• Manchester team co-working days – currently twice a month but some team members choose to meet up more regularly

Hours: 30 hours per week, Tuesday – Friday

• Standard hours 9:00-17:30with flexibility offered where possible
• Working hours to shift, approximately 11:00-19:30, where schools prefer sessions in our later timeslot. We do not currently have any later projects and would not allocate more than 2 in a week

Annual Leave: 29 days plus bank holidays pro rata (23 days for 0.8 FTE) with a maximum of 4 days to be taken in school term time

Age UK Bromley & Greenwich is an independent local charity supporting older people across both boroughs. We work to enable, support and connect older people, promote independence and wellbeing and ensure their voices are heard.

We are looking for an Information & Advice Triage Worker to be the first point of contact for older people, carers and their families seeking support.

About the role

This role is central to our Information & Advice service. You will provide high-quality initial information and guidance, assess urgency and risk, and ensure people are directed quickly and appropriately to advice services, support services or partner organisations.

You will often be the first person someone speaks to, so a calm, empathetic and professional approach is essential.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for enquiries, mainly by telephone, with some face-to-face and email contact

• Provide accurate information on issues affecting older people including benefits, housing, care, health and local services

• Carry out structured triage to identify needs, priorities and risks

• Manage expectations clearly and sensitively

• Identify safeguarding concerns and follow organisational procedures

• Make timely referrals to internal services and external partners

• Maintain clear professional boundaries while offering a warm, person-centred response

• Record all contacts accurately and promptly on the organisation’s CRM system

• Maintain clear, concise and professional case notes

• Ensure confidentiality, consent and data protection requirements are met

• Work closely with advisers, service coordinators and partner agencies

• Take part in team meetings, supervision and training

• Keep knowledge up to date on welfare benefits, services and local provision

• Promote Age UK Bromley & Greenwich services positively and professionally

About you

Essential

• Experience in frontline information, advice, triage or high-volume customer contact work

• Confidence handling calls from people who may be distressed, anxious or frustrated

• Strong listening and questioning skills

• Ability to assess urgency and risk and take appropriate action

• Clear verbal and written communication skills

• Experience using a CRM or case management system

• Good general IT skills including email and Microsoft applications

• Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and professional boundaries

• Awareness of issues affecting older people and carers

• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion

• Empathy, patience and a non-judgemental approach

Desirable

• Experience in the voluntary sector or health and social care

• Knowledge of welfare benefits, housing or adult social care

• Experience of face-to-face advice or reception-based work

• Knowledge of local services in Bromley or Greenwich
