This is an exciting opportunity to join Citizens Advice Doncaster’s advocacy service, supporting both Deaf and hearing people in Doncaster to ensure their voices are heard and their rights upheld.

The role focuses on statutory and non-statutory advocacy, supporting people to understand information, participate in decision-making, and navigate social care, health, and mental health systems. This role does not involve personal care.

You will provide advocacy support to Deaf and hearing people through a range of methods, including face-to-face meetings, online platforms, and email. You will attend meetings with professionals and ensure that Deaf people can fully access and understand complex information using British Sign Language (BSL), while supporting hearing people using appropriate communication methods.

Working hours are flexible, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advocacy support to Deaf and hearing people in Doncaster

• Support people to participate in meetings with health, social care, housing, and other professionals

• Help people understand information and contribute to decisions about their care and support

• Represent individuals under statutory advocacy roles including IMCA, IMHA, Care Act advocacy, and Relevant Person’s Representative (RPR)

• Support people subject to the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), and Mental Health Act

• Obtain and represent the views and wishes of people who may lack capacity

• Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with data protection requirements

• Identify and report safeguarding concerns

• Work independently and remotely, while remaining an active member of the advocacy team and the wider VCSE community in Doncaster

About You

You will be able to demonstrate that you:

• Are proficient in British Sign Language (BSL) (essential)

• Understand the principles and purpose of advocacy

• Have experience working in the voluntary, health, or social care sector with people who have additional needs

• Have a good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, Mental Health Act, and related legislation

• Can produce clear, accurate written reports

• Have excellent communication and negotiation skills (in BSL, written English, and spoken English where appropriate)

• Are confident using IT systems

Senior Night Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker

Job Title: Senior Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker 

Location: Based in Catford in a well connected area near Bellingham, Catford, and Catford Bridge stations, with nearby bus stops. Please be kindly aware there is no step free access at this location and some of our other sites.

Salary: £28,000

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a rota which includes 3 to 4 night shifts a week between 20:00 - 08:30. There may be some flexibility required around these hours as per service requirements.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker to support in leading the night shift within our Lewisham service. The service offers specialist intensive rehabilitation for people who require more enhanced interventions than that which is offered within community services. We provide residents with support to step down into less supported accommodation, becoming more independent and integrated into the community. 

As a Senior within the team, you will be the main point of contact during the night shift across two residential properties, leading the team by example, providing specialist support and managing the environment to be psychologically informed to empower the team and residents to ensure safety, wellbeing, and progress towards resident recovery goals. 

Some key responsibilities include:

• Providing tailored, person centred support that promotes recovery, rehabilitation and independence.

About You

• Ability to be a point of contact and specialist in the service to support the team and residents with various queries and challenges

Key Purpose / WHY? 

The Carers Wellbeing Worker will support unpaid carers across Bridgend to establish ‘What Matters’ to them and provide bespoke, person-centred information, advice and guidance to those accessing our services, including, one 2 one support, group work and activities, as well as signposting and referring to relevant agencies for additional support including working with the unpaid carer to complete a proportionate carers assessment to help them on their caring journey. 

Working with the senior Carers Wellbeing worker to develop and deliver of a targeted outreach support programme, building on existing partnership working and connecting carers to community resources, preventing the need for escalation to statutory services. 

Key Responsibilities / WHAT? 

• To be the key contact for all enquiries around the Bridged Carers Wellbeing Service, including monitoring referrals, Bridgend Carers Wellbeing inbox, telephone or online enquiries and referrals through WCCIS. 

• To identify, engage with and support individuals who may be in an informal unpaid caring role including carers from seldom heard groups. 

• To work with unpaid carers and assist them to articulate ‘what matters to them’, their desired outcomes and signpost / refer individuals to relevant support service to enable them to achieve those outcomes within their own communities. 

• Undertaking proportionate carers assessments and reviews – identifying areas of need or change and producing support plans, to achieve outcomes that support the carer to become self-reliant and build a network of support. 

• To deliver a regular programme of outreach and engagement events, taking Bridgend Carers Wellbeing services into the community and working in partnership with carers support services. Feeding back suggestions and ideas to the Senior Carers Wellbeing worker to support development of targeted outreach across Bridgend. 

• To work with key stakeholders including Bridgend Council, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, Third Sector, and other external organisations across Bridgend, in a professional manner. 

• Accurate and timely recording and reporting on CRM to support with monitoring requirements.

• The post holder will be expected to be flexible, responsive to change and can organise their own workload daily and to support the demands imposed by the service. 

• Support the promotion and marketing of Bridgend Carers Wellbeing services and other carers support services.

• Promoting Carer Awareness through events such as Young Carers Action Day, Carer’s Rights Day and Carer’s Week.

Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. We’re looking for an Out of Hours Activity Coordinator to be responsible for the development and delivery of our out-of-hours services. 

You will be creative and motivated, and will inspire the people we support through a range of activities and new opportunities, building upon our current offer. 

This role reduces social isolation and loneliness for disabled adults and children by creating new evenings and weekend opportunities. We’ll also look to you to create a brand for these new, standalone services which are designed with people who use our services and our co-production team.

Hours: 18 hours per week.
