We are looking for a skilled and proactive Buildings & Maintenance Site Lead to oversee maintenance and facilities services at one of our key sites while supporting projects across our wider property portfolio. You will lead repairs, refurbishments and planned maintenance programmes, supervise contractors and maintenance colleagues, and ensure high standards of health, safety and compliance are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planned and reactive maintenance projects, repairs and refurbishments.
- Carry out hands-on maintenance work including carpentry, plumbing, decorating and general building repairs.
- Oversee contractors and ensure work is completed safely, on time and to a high standard.
- Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPMs), fire safety activities and compliance checks.
- Support office, housing and facilities improvement projects.
- Act as the main point of contact for maintenance issues and service requests.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, fire regulations and building standards.
- Management of the Maintenance Operatives
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has practical experience across a range of building maintenance disciplines.
- Holds a relevant trade qualification (e.g. carpentry, plumbing or electrical).
- Has experience supervising contractors or maintenance teams.
- Understands health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
- Has strong problem-solving, organisational and communication skills.
- Is committed to delivering excellent customer service and high-quality facilities management.
Headway UK developed the Approved Provider Scheme in 2011, which is a voluntary standards-based accreditation, for rehabilitation and residential units for people with a brain injury and we are looking for a new part time team member.
- Location: Preference for Midlands based, either home based or in Headway UK’s office in Nottingham.
- Salary: £35,000 FTE (pro rata for 21 hours per week) (days are flexible)

Headway UK developed the Approved Provider Scheme in 2011, which is a voluntary standards-based accreditation, for rehabilitation and residential units for people with a brain injury and we are looking for a new part time team member.
By participating in the scheme Approved Provider units affirm their dedication to excellent care, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement. The accreditation of units is then published for families, individuals and professionals to help inform their choices when identifying suitable provision for brain injury survivors. Our accreditation process is designed to be collaborative and supportive, guiding units through every step towards achieving and maintaining exemplary service standards.
The role will involve, conducting and writing assessments and working with the Approved Provider and Training Manager to manage Lead Assessors, who are based around the UK and the Service User Perspective Assessors, who are either brain injury survivors, or family members/ carers.

What you will do:
- Conduct Approved Provider assessments, which includes going into brain injury residential units and assessing the services they provide and making recommendations, to improve practice against the framework.
- Writing and reviewing reports for Approved Provider units, following assessments, that clearly highlight strengths and areas for development.
- Contributing to the development and growth of Headway UK’s Approved Provider scheme, by continuing to drive forward standards and onboarding new units.
- Working with freelance Lead Assessors and Service User Perspective Assessors (who are brain injury survivors or family members) who are based around the UK, to organise assessments and ensure the schemes standards are upheld.
About you

- Prior experience of working in the field of acquired brain injury.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g. occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, clinical psychology, physiotherapy, nursing, social work).

- Very good IT skills, including be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams).
- Ability to gain the trust, confidence, and respect at all levels within external organisations and staff groups.
- Be an excellent communicator, with new and existing Approved Provider units.

ABOUT THE ROLE
- Job Title: Services Co-ordinator
- Location: Hybrid - Minimum two days per week from Nottingham office. Remaining time can be home based, or office based.
- Salary: £27,000

In this role you will take the lead on vital Headway UK projects and work alongside colleagues in the wider Services Department to help support our key front-line services.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
As Services Coordinator, you will take the lead on three of Headway UK’s vital services. You will be responsible for processing applications to our Emergency Fund, which provides travel and accommodation grants to family members, to support them to be at the bedside of loved ones, when their family member is in hospital, after acquiring a brain injury. Your role will include making recommendations for funding, signposting applicants onto other organisations, keeping detailed records and producing basic financial reports to highlight the Emergency Funds’ position throughout the year.
You will also lead the annual renewal of the Headway UK’s Solicitor’s Directory, ensuring it remains a vital resource for those seeking specialist solicitors with experience in handling brain injury cases.
You will support the delivery of Headway UK’s training programme through effective administrative support, including managing the training mailbox, responding to enquiries, distributing certificates, and liaising with delegates and associate trainers.
You will work alongside colleagues within the wider Services Department to provide exceptional administrative support
On occasion you will also be required to work with the Project Lead for Brain Injury Identity Cards and assist with processing Brain Injury Identity Card applications.

About the opportunity:

As a Social Investment Manager, you will work on the outcomes contracts activity in both the UK and other high-income countries. You will develop new projects and partnerships along with ongoing management of the existing portfolio.
