The Role

What will I be doing?

You’ll be responsible for a range of activities, including:

• Designing, commissioning, and delivering the IOP’s public engagement strategy
• Reaching diverse public audiences across the UK and Ireland, strengthening public understanding and appreciation of physics through strategic, impactful, and inclusive engagement activities
• Leading a team to deliver high quality and high impact programmes and projects
• Leading fundraising to support the IOP's public engagement and public dialogue work

Projects you may work on include:

• Overseeing the IOP’s UK and Ireland public engagement and dialogue programme, ensuring activities align with societal challenges and/or physics themes (e.g., climate change, health)
• The IOP’s Limit Less initiative which aims to break down barriers that can put off young people from underrepresented backgrounds from pursuing physics
• Administering the IOP’s Public Engagement Grants Scheme (PEGS)

Who will I work with?

You’ll work closely with a range of colleagues and stakeholders, including:

• Multiple IOP teams, including EDI, policy and public affairs, communications and marketing, membership and national teams
• The IOP's Business Development Group to help shape the IOP's overall approach to fundraising

• Equipping members with the tools and resources to engage the public effectively through a member-led approach to public engagement
• Working in partnership with organisations in and beyond STEM

Ideally, we hope you’ll apply if you bring:

Essential:

• A track record of designing and delivering high quality and wide-reaching public engagement in partnership with other organisations and with a track record of reaching different public audiences (ideally within a membership organisation)
• Experience of managing high performing teams and collaborating with peers
• Experience with and in depth understanding of audience research and acting on it to ensure diversity of reach
• Experience of budgeting and performance management of programmes

Nice to have:

• Experience of identifying risks associated with projects and activities and implementing effective mitigation plans
• Skilled in overseeing multiple projects and ensuring quality assurance through evaluation and monitoring processes
• Experience in influencing decision-making at senior levels and providing strategic advice based on sound analysis and judgment

The Rapid Response ISVA provides proactive support and advocacy service to female survivors of sexual violence aged 16+ who are engaging with the criminal justice system. This role will have a focus on supporting survivors who have been subjected to group-based Childhood Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, and whose criminal justice cases have been reopened under Operation Beaconport/Pintar. You will work as part of a growing Feminist Rape Crisis service that is developing to meet the needs of women and girls. These posts involve travel across East London, and a hybrid model of home, outreach and office working.

We’re looking for highly organised and self-motivated women who are passionate about ending violence against women.  You’ll have a ‘can-do’ approach and demonstrable commitment to nia’s feminist approach to supporting women and girls. The RCR, in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, is leading a national review into cancer multidisciplinary team (MDTs) improvement — a key commitment in the National Cancer Plan. We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to drive this high-profile programme and deliver meaningful change for cancer services. 

This is a rare opportunity to shape how cancer teams work across the country and to deliver meaningful improvements for patients, clinicians and the wider cancer workforce. 

As Project Manager, you will take full ownership of the planning, coordination and delivery of the Cancer MDT Reform Programme. You’ll work closely with senior leaders across the health system including NHS England, Macmillan Cancer Support and the Department of Health and Social Care as well as senior Officers at the RCR, including regular reporting to our Vice-President for Clinical Oncology. 

Key responsibilities include: 

• Leading the full project lifecycle, from developing detailed project plans to managing risks, timelines and reporting. 
• Delivering a large two-day national stakeholder event to gather insight and build consensus across the cancer community. 
• Drafting high-impact written outputs, including a flagship report outlining recommendations for MDT improvement to be shared with government. 
• Collaborating with DHSC and NHSE to support the development of future MDT guidance. 
• Building strong, productive relationships with clinicians, NHS partners, national charities, Royal Colleges and internal teams. 
• Line managing the Project Administrator and fostering an effective and motivated project team.

About this role:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional to lead our fundraising and partnership development activities, supporting the diversification and growth of income across both established and emerging streams. While the role will place significant emphasis on corporate fundraising, it will also involve the strategic development of grants and trusts. Main responsibilities

• Manage and grow corporate relationships for the benefit of Community Rail Network and its members, nurturing effective, lasting relationships that help community rail to deliver on its aims around community development, sustainable travel, and inclusion.
• Conduct prospect research to identify new corporate supporters and relevant grant opportunities, taking a proactive approach to cultivating new leads, building networks and flagging upcoming opportunities well in advance to ensure sufficient preparation time.
• Engage, listen and pitch to funders, understanding shared priorities, articulating the value of partnering with us, and securing continued or increased support. 
• Work cross-team to create strong proposals, using member and partner insights to identify funding needs and opportunities, and develop compelling cases for support and budgets.
• Develop joint grant applications by collaborating with colleagues, members and external partners to create bids aligned with our strategic aims and which recognise our current strengths, resources and prioritie
• Support strategic funding development, working closely with the senior leadership team to shape our approach and deliver against funding objectives and ensure it is understood by colleagues.

Other information

This post is home-based, but with travel (including occasional overnight stays) for team meetings, events, member engagement, and external meetings.
